I am currently paragon 601. Have farmed, grouped, traded everything I can do. Have pushed grift 48 solo. Cannot go any further due to RNG getting an ancient weapon. Not only is it practically impossible to get a ceremonial knife, but even harder to get a dagger of darts. And then god forbid I get an ancient one. I run a buddy through a rift just starting out. he is paragon 2. He gets an ancient mind blowing Serpent's sparker. Very happy for him. Want to go further but can't. Getting tired. Have 3 billion gold to spend on nothing. The grind continues...
I would say if you want to keep playing, your on the right track carrying a friend.
I've been searching for my ancients to, and getting kinda worn out... Carrying my friend has revitalized the game, I get to see them get all the sweet loot and gear up, I get to share my knowledge and inform them of how to gear all while excitedly waiting until there geared up to my point and we can start playing on even ground.
this is a problem back to vanilla D3, and they enhance it by introducing ancient.
last night my buddy, who hasn't play for like 6 months, plvl below 100, login and play a few runs with me, got a serpent's sparker.. and I am like plvl 600 something, never see a single one.
Even if there is no RNG in the game, those who want to moan and complain still will moan and complain We should better admit that in its current state, D3 is not nearly a well balanced competition game. There is no equation that would connect time spent grinding and GRift lvl, just pure luck on top of skills. And sometimes, even if you're lucky as hell with your drops, something different comes to slap you in the face...
I'm not a pro player, rather casual, GR 39 is still my record for now, Para 320. But I've always played HC because I like the thrill and I don't like to be reckless Glass Cannon that has nothing to lose. And guess what? Yesterday I've finally got my Ancient BK sword, then within an hour I've got Gift for it! Yep, I was so happy, cleared GR 39 without any troubles. RNG is good for me?
Today I decided to run some GRs, enetred 27 lvl, faced an Elite with Arcane affix - and BOOM! Someone decides that it's a good moment to switch off electricity in my district. Just for 2-3 minutes, but that was enough - hello, Old Friend, Smoky Screen! Bye-bye, my weapon and Gift, i'll be missing you!
So, if it's not for RNG, then real life shit kicks in.
But what did I do? Did I wrote a topic at DiabloFans about how cruel life is and how I will never be able to get to leaderboards because of who knows what? Did I revive an old HC topic about protection from disconnects? Nope, I just created new Barb and continued playing. I still have more than 2 months of Season 3 to get lucky again (and probably RIP again)!
So, everyone who is sad about not getting their desired items, just cheer up, go smash some demon skulls and remember that you didn't get your items YET! In Season 2 I've managed to enter Leaderboards just 2 days before the Season ended. Yes, it was a boring 800-something place, but I was happy, because I didn't even hope to get there! GL and HF, friends!

did you know you can request for roll back? you can revive your dead toon that way - so it's not good bye old friend just yet. but keep in mind that each account is entitled to 3 rollbacks only. Also, once you've rolled back, you won't be able to undo if you change your mind.
It would be so easy for them to remedy the problem.
Item + 25 forgotten souls => an ancient version of that item.
Ancient item + 25 forgotten souls => full reroll of that item's stats
Item + 50 forgotten souls + flawless royal gem + 10 million gold => add another enchantable slot to a piece of gear
10 veiled crystals + 100,000 gold = 1 arcane dust
Suddenly every legendary you find feels useful (since you have a cool use for the soul) and now picking up yellows isn't worthless (since you can convert veiled crystals to arcane dust).
Also:
Gems: Instead of 60% chance to upgrade, just make Upgrade add 60 upgrade points. When you hit 100, it upgrades. This way it is never left to chance and you always feel like you made some progress upgrading a gem. In this way, even a 1% chance feels at least a little bit rewarding.

600... Early days pal.
1 month into the season and you want to quit... Sounds like a child stomping his feet because he hasn't got what he wants haha.
It's a farming game, it can suck but it is what it is. Keep at it.

Well, thank you, mate! Always thought that in HC if you're dead - then you're dead, no exceptions, already reconciled myself to it. Gonna try it now.
Just another proof that even the worst accidents do not ruin everything
Edited: Well, it seems that dead HC heroes can't be revived via account rollback Okay, let's farm some more stuff again!
Pure 100% RNG is not good game design.
