Aw, cool. Can I be a Conductor? I really enjoy creating tracks and boosters and even more than that, keeping animals off it. Here's a video of my coaster if you need proof.

You can definitely be the conductor.

@italofoca - glad to have you on board. Are you looking to be the master explorer? Or a traveler/spelunker? If you want to be the master explorer, can you tell ke some ideas you have on expanding.
Yeah i could be the master explorer.
I think the explorer party should try to expand the explored zone based at the resources the group demand. I think at the early stages we will need alot of coals and iron veins so i think natural caves are the priority.
After we set a good stock of iron and coal, we should just move in a organized way and keep recording everything we find (natural caves, strange/cool shaped valleys, etc...).
But i thought the master explorer work more of a organizer then anything you kno. I guess the best way for us exploring the world is let the travelers/spelunkers go to where their think it's cooler. I will coordinate the group by creating and asking a series of things:
- Creat a consistent terriotial language. For example, I'll ask the travelers to mark every natural cave with a huge pillar of crumble stone. So, anyone interested in exploring caves can find one miles away. A fully explored exausted cave can be marked by a pillar with some detail (maybe a T). So, people will know that theres nothing more to look there.
- Make sure that people are exploring different areas. I want to see the whole world marked with our obelisks (even through the world tends to be infinity). So anyone can navigate in distant territories without fear of getting lost.
- Ask travelers and spelunkers to creat, here and there, some outposts. Those outpost would need all kind of useful things people may need when traveling too far away from town (food, boat, meterials, etc..). Those outposts may also be very important land marks. My job will be assure that people are actually building those outposts when traveling.
- Build safe paths in distant areas. For example, put ladders in high mountains, so people may climb it.
- Report important finding to me. I will make a explore journal with all the info other people find.
As i see, the explore division should not only discover the world. A important step to do so is to creat the conditions for people to "survive" away from home. So, when the other people needs to go for a particular area, they will have enough support to do so. Maybe this is not the idea you guys had of a master explore. But this is just a suggestion of how i think the explore team should play.
The jobs are basically broken up into three categories. Mining (destroying) and crafting (creating). I also added security for those who just want to fight monster but added defense to their responsibilities.

Yes, just to organize things. However, only the master explorer and lead architect are really responsible for their field. If you font want any major responsibilty, just choose a miner or builder, which ever you think you'll dothe most. You won't be held to only that job though. You will be able to do whatever you want.

Well, in that case, can I change my prefrence from Chief Security Dude to Lead Construction Dude?
(Not good with titles, as you can very well see. Lol.)
Because of the position, before I appoint anyone, I would like to hear your ideas and plans for construction. If possible, I would also like to see some screenshots of things that you have built. I believe Irrational also wants the position so I would like to see what both of you can offer.
@Donsro - if LinkX is giving up the postion, then it s all yours.

Well, personally, I'd like to have a cobblestone road, flush with the ground. Grass lawns for everybody, with a wood house. (Customized for each individual, of course.) Of course there would have to be a number of torches about the town, to keep things from spawning inside. I'd like to have a stone wall (Not to be confused with Cobblestone, which will be strictly for roads.) I'd also like a central meeting hall where everybody can get together, a bank were we can store things, and a barracks where we can store weapons and armors, the higher quality the better. I'd also like the stone wall to be 2 deep, with towers in each of the corners, and possibly inbetween the corners if depth requires it. This would give whoever is in charge of safety a place to position archers to fire at the enemy while the swordsmen could fight them off. Also, I'd want to put a moat either 1 block or possibly 2 blocks away from the wall with one entrance on each side of the town.
Thats just a bit off the top of my head. There is more I'd like to do, but I'm also playing WoW as I type this. Also, like I say, I'd post pictures, but WoW isn't going to let me. :/
Sorry, I was typing that while trying to dps in a dungeon. If any of that made no sense at all, yea, sorry about that. >.>
I'd also like to get a farm up if thats something that might interest somebody. See if we can't grow some wheat for the miners/soldiers/builders/etc. (Easier then trying to raise livestock.) Of course, we could also get signs in the Bank stating what is available and what is requested, as well as signs for logs and such. And, like if Italofoca does make small forts for the explorers/miners/etc we could build a track system that would connect them with powered carts, two wide, one for coming, one for going. (Rather expensive on the iron side, but it would be worth it to stay out of the mobs, as well as speeding up the travel time.)
And fuck, another dungeon...
Edit: Alright, I made a little thing and then tried that fraps program, and it killed everything. I tried it again, and it happened again. So I figured I'd build a tiny bit then fraps it and it killed it. -.- Just wasted an hour and a half...
Anyway, the reason I was saying cobblestone for the roads is that cobblestone has more of a road look, where as bricks (If the map has clay) has more of a house look, if that makes sense.
And honestly, I've never had a fire. o.O
Edit: That's not to say that all houses should look the same, of course not. Everybody should have some say in what their house looks like, after all, it's their house. Please don't confuse me there.
If stone is not cobble wtf is stone?
I like how cobble looks a lot. Roads, walls, w/e. Wood/brick would be nice for houses but apart from that cobble all the way.
All my stuff just got deleted!!!!!!!! For no reason once so ever. At least 4 hours of work is gone. Has this happened to anyone yet? I don't really mind starting fresh, but still...
Happened to me once when my computer crashed. But as you see, I do have a reason.
It's in alpha, though, the game's expected to fail sometimes.
Well, what I would like to do for individual housing is create a standard size area, maybe 10x10 or 15x15 area for each player and let them do whatever they want to do. If they want to build a wood cottage, go for it. If you want to build a 64 high stone wall all around, by all means. It is your personal area and you are freeto do whatever you want with it. The only thing I have not decided is if I want to keep all the housing together or let everyone choose and create their own place. I'll probably go with the later. However, banks, supply depots, and other communal buildings will all be built in a central location.

Well I think we could have like a village, with everyone having their own area but being able to move in another's area, and something (wall/fence) surrounding the whole thing.
What do you mean by 10x10, though? Blockwise, that's freaking tiny.
I generally do not build houses I just dig into a mine and all my stuff is in there, lol.
