Im gona be forming a clan with a few friends. If things go as planned, we got a good number of experienced diablo players who will join. Its gonna be in the Europe realm though.
haha remember clan sick? there was a clan for this website before it became big back in 2007-2008, it had over 100 members, but it just stopped because it was heavily flawed
Yeah, it's still here It's just archived since all it's leaders left or went inactive :*( http://diablofans.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=27 Wonder if someone will just take control of it again someday...
Ya true, that clan is a dormant monster.... I mean it used to be quite big! Only time will tell though. When D3 will be close to release, I'm pretty sure that old member will return in these forums to "reactivate" the clan and maybe silver who knows?
Ill be playing on Europe as well. That is assuming that Battle.net 2.0 will be divided into 4 servers like the old system.
I'm sure there will be lots of clans and they can advertise on the forums and ppl can join and so on .. The best situation would be if there was one or two clans for each relam.
I'm hoping it won't be split into four, but I do hope it'll be split by language. USEast is FLOODED with French people right now - nothing wrong with that, I just can't understand a word of what they're saying lol.
If people who are "In charge" around here and were members of the SICK clan back then would want to revive the clan, we could addopt the system of divisions. I got a team that can run the Eu division. But thats all just imagination right now... I mean, D3 is gona come out in minimum a year and a half... anyway... SICK is a cool name
I think I'm actually the only person left in the staff that was a member of SICK, and I was only here for its dying breath. Unless Stormy was in it... *goes to check roster* Yep, and Stormy.

Do you think some people will come back to SICK for D3? If so, it still has a chance to survive
Silver might, but he left in a rage so I don't know how people will feel about following him again. Maybe his older friends will return and they'll work from there. We might have another big clan coming on the scene here soon(c), though

To be honest, I do not think it's very sportsmanlike to house a guild within a more news-related website, like the previous situation regarding sick. It usually just establishes factions and wrongly encourages people to join said guild, especially as the media can work to that guild's advantage.
For me, coming back to this website in early 2006, after having its name change as an initial shock, I was severely disappointed in the addition of clan sick, because most everything inevitably centered around it at the time. This place is more about a community related to Diablo, not a guild that plays the game and just happens to report stuff about it.
In essence, my opinion is that if one is interested in establishing or joining a guild and participating with its members outside of a game, keep it separate from places like this.
We are a community of Diablo Fans and the site should be treated as such. Fans of the game obviously also want to play the game. Just like people who want to write or draw have a section for that, players should have a section too. The site does not have to center around any guild that is forming on the site. It should and will be treated like any other area of the forums not directly related to Diablo news.

Which is why we only offer the forum space and nothing else. This isn't the same site it was four years ago. I'll leave the rest up for when Sixen is ready.
I can understand the incentive to create a website guild, but to literally just allow one to act as a parasite infecting this website is neglectful. The only reason why people would join it is because it's here and they'd probably see it as a way to better themselves within the community. Also, rationalizing a guild forum based on the fact that every subject deserves its own subdivision is completely immature and not well thought out at all. I was the person to originally start an art thread in the general forum on the older website, it grew to have so many posts that admins considered it useful to create a forum; that's how blocking should work.
I am not trying to be a negative-nancy, nor am I trying to be overly aggressive, but creating a guild just because it seems like a fashionable idea is very irresponsible.
It really isn't, this has been in the works for a while now. This also isn't our "website guild", it is purely a clan. We are not affiliated with it beyond hosting it. We feel that a major drawback of DiabloFans is that we do not encourage actual playing of the game. This is a way we've been planning of compensating for that.
If the website hosts a guild, it's obviously affiliated with it. Anyway, it doesn't matter if the idea has been fermenting for years and years, manure will smell like manure whenever revisited. Also, if framing members to join a clan by providing that group with its own built-in means of advertising is the only conceivable idea in relation to encouraging those same players to play a game, then the sky is bright bubble-gum pink and trees are made from pastry dough.
Sorry to post directly after my older post, but the edit button on my browser is behaving quite naughtily.
I think it would be a much more sensible idea to create a guild recruitment forum, rather than just create a clan and let it dominate. That way people make their own websites and communities instead of leeching off that of others and this website's members are encouraged to play diablo.
The case with SICK is somewhat special. This clan grew with the forums and actually help build this place. It's part of DiabloFans history and it was already affiliated to this forum since the begining. It should stay that way, but this does not exclude the presence of other clans. To me, SICK is a prestigious clan simply because it was there before D3 was revealed and it was there at the very start of this community. It should therefore be the dominant clan. If a clan gets better than SICK, I'm all for it, it's "natural selection" and everything is in order.
If I were to choose between a newly formed clan and clan SICK, I would choose without hesitation SICK. Now, if you want to choose something else, it's your choice. But don't come crying back to me saying that the clan leaders stole all your gear and called you a brat as we do not take traitors among our ranks .... NAHHHHH just kidding man, we're gonna be a cool clan and welcome you with open arms.

Well, I hope I made my point clear ^_^.
Really, i'd just prefer there to be no single clan sub-forum like what SICK had, rather a forum in which multiple clans had their own threads or even just a guild recruitment forum leading to other websites. It's so irresponsible to hand over a chunk of a website to a separate entity.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
Any clan or guild supported with forum space would only be receiving that to bring together members of the DiabloFans community. We would not cease our coverage of Diablo and/or Blizzard news, cease developing our Wiki, or in any other way stop being exactly what we have been for years. In that regard, it would be of no detriment to the website.
Clans and guilds are an integral part of the gaming community and it would be a terrible disservice to our members not to support them on DiabloFans. We are a gaming website, always have been and always will be, and we need to support the needs of our gamers.
Furthermore, if you continue to slander every one of us (staff and non-staff) that have been and are trying to make this website a more interactive and fun place to be with derogatory terms like "immature" and "irresponsible", you will be infracted. That violates multiple board rules. I suggest you learn them before you start telling all of us what you think is better for the site.
On closing: there is no "official site clan" and never will be. Our doors are open to everyone.
