With ancient items, you can even go higher than 10k mainstat on gear, 13k should be doable. Ancient amu would have (around, not sure) 1000, so that about 8% damage. With dex, lets assume: soj, cindercoat, bracers and balefire (or what it's called), giving you 180% weapon damage (you want bombardier on dh, so the elemental quiver has no point). You can get 20% more firedamage on amu, putting you at 200%, so about 11% increase.
Last thing to add: any % roll would (long term) outperform mainstat, since you can have "unlimited" paragon and thus unlimited mainstat. If you got a godlike item where you can remove the mainstat for any damage multiplier %, it is better.
true, but a perfect amu doesn't have to be ancient (ele%, cc%, cd%, socket), making it easier, and often you will have a non ancient, making main stat worse when compairing.
