Since I'm playing barb in S3, got together some decent gear, I started pushing greater rifts (easily cleared a 42 so far, but that doesn't matter for my write-up). In groups we cleared GR48, GR45 is very easy.
As I didn't get my 2nd Unity yet, I was looking into using Striding Giant rune on WOTB for 50% damage reduction (I need Fury generating ancients). Without having any RCR (RCR is bad in this combo) I manage to keep up perma WOTB with just Whirlwinding.
To achieve this it is enough to use Boon of Bul-Khatos passive and 10%CDR from Paragon points - you get a safety Window of about 1-2 seconds to reactivate WOTB again (I was using a Ruby in helm in my GR42 clear).
I mention this, coz on GR40+ while I was stopping and trying to apply Rend, it very often resulted in deaths/or at least 2nd life kick in. This way I can WW to glory.
Of course with a 2nd Unity, it is much easier to survive, so you can put in Rend again, and replace Boon of Bul-Khatos with another more damage oriented passive.
