Don't get me wrong, I love all of the Witch Doctor's spells, and the summoning 'style' that he uses for most of his skills is definitely crazy cool, but is it just me or do the spells, especially the latter ones not feel as 'epic' as some of the other classes?

I agree with feminism. I don't think that it's right that for every dollar a man makes, a women gets 70 cents. Why do I only get 30 cents and some chick gets the rest?
I think just the simple fact that they can summon the undead/demons and subject them to their will is too overwhelmingly epic for me.

My place really was here. I was too foolish and stubborn to notice. But, what I truly hoped for then was here. Why do I always realize it When I've already lost it.
Honestly i don't think so, spells are fine, looks good and gives you a tribal feel - just what you want from WD. Besides as already mentioned runed effects will add that much more to overall looks.
If you're talking about what we've seen in the beta, I would agree. Poison dart, plague of toads, and zombie charger don't have the flashy special effects that we've seen in some of the other classes. I think the WD spells are more aesthetically interesting and more varied than a lot of the other classes, though, even if they don't all have big explosions in them.
I have to admit that the WD is probably the only class that I don't feel any desire to try =P
DH: Strategising with traps, Vault, even bombs that have physics to them.
Wiz: Although it iiiiisss basically just an aoe slow/freeze, the time bubble looks and feels pretty damn cool and will allow for some pretty sweet game-play and tactics.
Monk: Combos? Hell yeah.
Barb: The Fury resource system really intrigues me, being more powerful the more you attack.. Also, the skills that draw enemies closer to you for further massacre sounds like a lot of fun.
WD: ??
I think the WD will be the fun, 'pull a snake out of the hat', type of class.
It definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea, and the necro he sure as hell is not. So, I think people who'll play the WD will approach him with that mind set. All logic out the door, balls to the walls, all out fun.
It's possible the WD's spell effects' flashiness has been toned down slightly to account for the the fact that they can fill the screen with toads and summons. It sounds like this gets a little overwhelming to other players in the game.

The witch doctor will be the first character I play and more than likely will always be my main. The skills are just fantastic in my opinion and the dialogue changes from many of the npcs will just help with the immersion.
I'm drawn to the WD skills uniqueness more than anything (especially with rune modifiers). Definitely going WD first, and my builds always tend to lean towards a summoner/debuff playstyle to roll with my bro's Barb / Wizard.
I sort of agree with the OP about the epicness of other classes somewhat outweighing the WD on the "pretty" or "potent" scale, but I think the WD has more fun rune options visually (zombie bears/ladder, raining corpses, giant frog, etc) than anyone else.

Zombie Bears. Rain of Corpses. Snake to the Face.
I'd say as far as epic goes, Witch Doctor is ahead of the rest. The Barb, for example, is just hitting stuff.
/win
Based on your comments in the whole KFC delivery guy thread i don't know if yo urae talking about the skills as eye candy or the models....
Oh, that's a good one.

Maybe I'm just missing something..
