@AFd3
Not a fan of Fist of Fury/Cyclone build? I'm not saying you have to change, but I would like to know why you "nerf yourself" by going a different route.
Gear: Try finding a helm with a socket. And I would swap those bracer with something new. Pref. more dex, but I can understand if you want to keep them. They have have tons of resist.
This is me: h ttp://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Rhye-2561/hero/6345296 and I would love some feedback on what to upgrade next.
this is my monk. started playing d3 again about a week ago and have been working on my gear. any tips/advice appreciated. around 750~ resists atm.
Not bad. Looking for a budget and what you are looking to do.
More vitality on your core items, huge vitality on your pants and chest, +% health is a neat addition. 30k is a general minimum, you can give up some resistance for it.
Right ring should have some combination of avg damage, crit or attack speed along with higher dex, left is fantastic. Bracers should be a higher dps item while you might be able to sneak some health on your boots.
us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Schmii-1592/hero/17663041 100mil budget. more efficient 1.05 higher difficulty farming.
I am trying to up my dps but not sure of the best way. Any tips welcome, Thanks
I like what you've done stat wise, but i think the only thing that i might start considering if i were you is 1) you're still around the 700 resist mark which is awesome, its pretty much the standard as far as gear is concerned. If you're truly game for more dps, i've seen the over 100K monks have about 550-600, and letting the life regen/loh do the rest. You've got a sexy main hand right there and should be a huge help. 2) you're probably almost to the cap of what you can get as far as damage is concerned with individual items. It may be time to look into Inna's bonus... either pants/belt, pants helm, or belt helm combo.
Given i say all this just dreaming about what my monk can do... im only around 11m gold and don't know what piece (s) to go after myself. helps for an outside perspective.

** lousy 10 post limit **
Thanks for any tips
It's common to see the weapon with higher damage in the left slot, I'm not sure if it helps or not.
Use the conviction - overawe rune and use the mantra as your spirit dump. No other rune comes close for conviction.
I assume you run one with everything and STI passives. They're fairly standard, STI can be replaced easily come 1.05
If you could get the same stats as your chest in your pant slot it could help.
I see you're running fleet footed. A cheap lacuni bracer was less of a compromise for me to gain 12% speed than 10% and losing that third passive. Using all three is the eventual goal. There's some interesting combinations of lacuni bracer to max run speed and blackthorn's pants for the LoH (and it seems you like MF).

feel free to skip, i'm just post whoring.
Dunno what there to be said about your char, you got pretty nice stats. and lots of hp which will be good after the patch. All I can really say is something that you prolly already know, that being you will need more healing for 1.0.5 to do the higher monster levels.
From what I know my hp is ok but Ill prolly need more for monster level and Ineed LoH or double LS which is quite expensive and I m not getting those legenderies to help me attain those types of weapons atm. :D. Any tips are greatly appreciated.
your crit chance and crit dmg are good, but you could need some more dex or some better weapons to up your dps.
a cheap won khim lau would give you the biggest bang for the buck. get a cheap one with 25% and 8xx + dps. since your mainhand is pure physical dps, the additional 5-6% to lightning count also full. thats a 30% dmg increase for ~500k.
EDIT: I was refering to CrazyEgoist
Thanks, my dps went like 3k down but with the 26% dmg increase it is alot better.

get a cheap echoing fury, and work on IAS on your neck / rings ^^
Cool thread, only noticed it a couple of days ago, but my Monk was shitty in comparison to the other guys'.
@Meyrin - That's insane DPS...
FIrst off, I've only have 124 hours on my Monk, haven't really farmed, just a couple of playthroughs in Act 2. After that I just wanted to clear Inferno. All my current gear I got in game except the one axe, which I think was for like 200k (since I've never had a decent drop of anything; biggest sellout was less than 500k I think. Have 5mil gold atm, but trying to upgrade my gear in game). Also my skill selection might not sit well with some, but I like how they each skillset play. BUT if you do have advice (part from my needing crit dmg & %), please do share.
Edit: Noob query: I assume crit dmg & % contributes to your DPS...since my weapons' DPS and my Dex is about the same as others', but my overall DPS is well below theirs. If so, any idea how exactly this works?
I highly recommend d3up.com for calculating the benefit of certain stats. Look at the DPS and EHP gains per stat and weight gear accordingly.
Another interesting tool is diabloprogress.com with an item section that compares item ehp and damage gains.
In this section grimy has a guide on choosing talents, there's also a post on raising your monk to 60k.
From grimy's guide you'll likely want sweeping wind bladestorm up to 10% crit, then cyclone for dps.
Mantra evasion hard target > backlash to conviction overawe is a preferred order of mantras.
Aim for 800 LoH, try looking for 500+ on your amulet. Once you have your regen up your third passive may not be required.
Serenity is typically a required talent. If you're substituting sss try the one that increases it to 9 hits for a longer immunity window, else fulminating assault is the most general dps.
For my monk I'm fairly lost on a direction to go. MP10 ubers are killable with the PTR hellfire ring. With a few hundred million I could...
- raise echoing fury a couple hundred damage, maybe add steal with similar damage but it might be better to have one hard hitting weapon.
- 55+ res or 375ar+ inna's pants
- helm could gain some hp/dex, one resist, one open stat. The open stat could be vit, more resist/%, LPS, damage.
- trade 100 vitality for 50 resist on the chest
- if I buy chest inna's belt might be an option, else strong EHP rare, or vit/int/resist witching hour.
- second ring will be hellfire, I broke nat's boot/ring and I'm not sure I should do anything with my left ring or amulet until patch.
- Gloves have lots of options but I can't find anything great.
- I don't think lacuni rolls well against a better rare bracer.
- offhand is really hard to replace
Is it worth looking into better gear before the patch?
Is it worth looking into better gear before the patch?
The one stat that will likely see a cost increase will be the regen stats, so LoH, LS and LpS. The only real question will be will the influx of good gear off-set the increased demand?
I'm personally waiting on major upgrades at this point. I will likely look at getting more vit and resist on a few peices, and see if I can get some more regen on weapons, but only buying for what I can sell my old gear for so I don't drop my gold down.
Also, the new, higher stat, jewelry will likely take quite a while to flood the market to the point where it'll be reasonable to buy, so once the patch hits, I'll be waiting for good deals on jewelry for a while.
i'm stuck with my monk, i want to upgrade him but i dont know how.
I came here ask to u guys what is better to my monk rise up about 100k DPS, should i aim for crit hit damage and LS or LoH and attack speed or anything else?
Nice to see a non-AH monk GL
As for your gear. I can't really say I know how to make your gear better if you aren't using the AH. But when and if you see an item with LoH/LS on it, I'd pick it up asap. Patch 1.0.5 will kick your a** if you don't have lots! (well, kinda).
You have a nice and balaced monk, I like the combination of loh / ls. The problem is that you lack of movement speed.
My advice is to get a echoing fury with a socket and a good dps to replace your off hand and switch out beacon of ytar for fleet footed.
Lacuni whit crit% would be nice too since you don't have movement speed on boots and your boots are really good
With the increase attack speed from echoing fury your loh will be enough to get through act 3 inferno.
PS: an echoing fury like mine (a poor one :)) will give your around 6k dps.

When i was Paragon leveling i had a Leorics with pickup radius.
I have replaced it since and I miss it greatly. That ability is really underrated imo.
