fuck armory like that... updated at certain time, not when I logged out :/
Yes is can be a bitch >__<
Updated the post with a section for gear swapping and an explanation of Elemental Damage Bonus and Adds x% to [element] Damage. Which will help some people that think a particular element on the Stone of Jordan is better than another, which is false.
No sarcasm there. I'm serious. I find you informative and humorous, which is what a lot of people lack. I generally try to write here without putting in too much humor fearing that things will get misinterpreted and initiate a flame war.
But you did a good job here. I actually might pick up a SoJ and Skorn one day to level up my monk (after I get my wizard to 100).
Very Interesting. I dropped my lifesteal skorn and changed a few items for more DPS.
The ring spot is a tough go. My as% DPS ring is roughly equal to 24% mantra plus some survivability, SoJ is cold damage and 12% SW though..., Leoric takes care of pu radius and adds XP though but the dps loss sometmmes requires 2 passes through enemies.
A general reply to some of the responses in the thread - pertaining to OWE, I'm not using it and I find that I really don't have a problem at all. Maybe reflects damage, but not much is going to help with that unless you have LoH/LS and are not using a Skorn with the bleed effect.
I'm also running with resistances in the high 200.
Question about Deadly Reach/Foresight rune - the 18% increased dmg buff, does that factor into the snapshot of Sweeping Winds?
Thanks for writing this guide. I've been waiting to make a TR monk for quite some time but wasn't sure how I should itemize.
I made one for a little less than 12m so not too bad.
I did have a question regarding reflect dmg however, as I keep dying to them, particularly when they have Horde.
Any tips? I've tried single targeting them down but with deadly reach it goes through and I end up either getting killed or killing myself.
I rly like using a wave of light build w/ mantra of healing circular breathing but i've also tried the suggested overawe with SSS. In either case I keep nuking myself. I have 0 LOH/LS so I'm not sure how you guys avoid dying especially with the skorn bleed ticking u to death.
I don't think my profiles been updated yet but I have 280ish res and 43k hp.

I'm still having issues with reflect dmg hordes. Theres just too many of them and I can't nuke them with one SSS. Do you guys think a 1000 LOH ammy would be beneficial? Or would a lifesteal skorn be the only way to survive a BELL drop
A video post probably will not happen from me, but you can get a general feel for the build here: http://www.twitch.tv/invisuk/b/343166177 with Invis using Firestorm.
Interesting read. I have been running around in tr build for some time now and I really love it. The build I use is a bit different tho. I only got spirit regen on my helm and use MoH. My dps in tr gear is 170k unbuffed however I dont feel like this is sufficent and been thinking about how to be able to kill whites without going back all the time. MoC sounds interesting but I never liked the idea of swaping my nat ring for soj(I am leaving the hellfire ring on for sure). But seeing how people positively respond to your guide I think I will give it a try. Also while I am aware of the fact that ias increases the spirit spent with my current setup I have 15 spirit regen which is enough. But you mentioned about ias not affecting the dmg in this build. Does it not change how often our SW ticks? Loads of my dmg comes from ias and if this is the case then I would give the soj n MoC setup a chance and probably also swap ias on my trifecta gloves and amu for more base dmg which I guess would not only lower the spirit cost but also increase the chance of killing the whites without the need of running back. Another thing that is on my mind after this read: is snapshoted SW affected by buffs casted while the SW is on?
The only things that affect SW after snapshot as far as I know are attack speed and crit % based on a post I have to dig up from the wow forums. This is on my To Do list.

Either try running through them with TR over and over or isolating, but no do not drop a bell on them. If reflect damage becomes a major issue for you, then you'll have to dump cash on a Lifesteal Skorn or more HP/resist.
Hmm, I find when SSS doesn't kill the pack there's enough health globes left behind to keep health up while killing the rest of the reflect pack. YMMV depending on health/resist. I don't run any steal/LoH anymore.
I run some tests and must say this is not the only "right way" imo. At some point when you got high base dmg you can easily get more dps without soj and MoC simply by having a decent ring. I tried soj + MoC over nat's and MoH and I actually do less dmg. That is considering that we want to have the hellfire ring on also.
SoJ+MoC being worse for damage than Nat's and MoH Is wrong.
You will not find a simple/single ring that will give you +24% overall damage increase like Mantra of Conviction: Overawe does. In effort to help you forget about this 'testing' you did and keep you well informed I will humor you point by point as to why these statements are incorrect.
Nats ring adds attack speed and makes Tempest Rushing harder due to requiring MORE Spirit Regeneration: Strike one. Nat's 7% Critical Hit Chance does not close the gap of a +24% damage increase making getting the Nat's set over Mantra of Conviction: Overawe not even close to worth it: Strike 2. You are assuming that your character sheet damage is all that matters with this build which is incorrect: Ball 1. No bonus to Sweeping Winds or Bonus Elemental Damage [huge] from the Stone of Jordan: Strike 3 - You're out.
Sure, you can juggle some abilities around when you hit certain Spirit Regeneration levels or damage levels, but the statements you are saying are entirely incorrect. Assuming one ring slot is a hellfire ring for both scenarios: Dropping Stone of Jordan and Mantra of Conviction: Overawe in favor of getting a Nats ring for a 7% Critical Hit Chance set bonus and Mantra of Healing: Circular Breathing to make up for the Spirit Regeneration losswill not get you MORE DPS anywhere other than your character sheet and is wrong as your character sheet does not entirely dictate the damage you will be doing with this build.
I'm trying this out (and btw getting 4.75 s/regen is hard while keeping up dps), but I'm noticing I'm having to run back and forth in mobs. I'm curious what damage level do you need to do a one pass on most mobs for this to really be fast?
i dont think you'r serious^^ it's a forum, we are discussing the topic, which is now 4 pages long. if you want to discuss the topic, read it
btw maybe you wont find a monk that is faster than the witchdoctor, i dont know how fast they can be. but the double-sprint with cooldownreduction seems quite powerful. so maybe they are faster.
this is not the topic though
if anyone is interested i can try to record a video of me farming with this technique. i average about 55-60 mio xp if i just calculate a run to xp/h. on top of that is ofc identifying, relogging, chatting... whatever
i had TR videos up when i first started experimenting with it before Sell made this awesome thread. I didnt use the exact same build, but people can search my name for videos. I should play the game and do a few recorded runs with my build and this one to see some differences for people. I have around 11-13 spirit regen now but lowered to only 84K dps if i remember right (havent played in about 2 months)
actually just looked up my character sheet on battle net. I have 12.22 spirt regen with MoH. and with guardians path that puts it up to 16.497 when using my skorn. thats probably a little much, but i wasnt running out. Maybe tomorrow i'll log on and run it with MoC to see what happens.
that means if i run with the Templar i have 18.476 spirit regen. thats a ton and i dont ever run out. i have the standard 1.08APS, so that much is an overkill. if i did my math correctly, if i change to MoC from MoH, it should be 13.94 spirit regen with the Templar and guardian's path. i believe that would be plenty.
edit#2
my math was wrong. the percentages of GP and the templar add together first to make it 1.47 * my current spirit regen. so with MoC its 9.14 before sweeping wind - inner storm and 12.14 after. so once SW is up, that should be enough. we'll see. my spirit regen when using MoH - circular breathing, templar, GP, and Inner storm would be 17.96, which is still overkill.

Of course. It's the other slot that's questionable. Either a DPS ring or leoric with mantra healing, or a SoJ with conviction.
In my testing I found it quickest with a DPS ring. Would be nice to drop attack speed for OWE though.
I'm also running with resistances in the high 200.
