as an idea for an AOE build, the focus will be on taking on as many enemies at once, popping Battle Rage and WotB, and then using all the fury gen from Cleave + Reapin Swing Rune, Into the Fray rune (on Battle Rage), Momentum rune (on Overpower) , Eye of the Storm rune (on Whirlwind), and the Animosity and Weapons Master (I would be using a Mighty Weapon) passives, to keep WotB up for as long as possible due to the Thrive on Chaos rune.
I would most likely use the Templar follower with this build to help combat the damage I would most likely be taking:
I kinda had the same idea for my barb, but until I actually get to test it I was trying to figure out if Weapons Master (Mighty Weapon) or if Animosity would be a better Fury Gen Passive.
im hoping 3 fury generating abilities would be enough to keep Revel for my rune on Overpower. If Cleave, Whirlwind(Dust Devils), and Leap Attack is enough Aoe I was thinking about going with your combo of popping Battle Rage + WotB.
As far as I know, while you are at max fury, any additional fury generated does not count toward Thrive on Chaos (I don't have a source, but I think this is general consensus from what I've read about WotB builds). Neither of you guys have a real good fury dump, since all your time spent whirlwinding/rending is not spent cleaving. The best fury dump would be Weapon Throw with Dread Bomb, which will use all your fury in one move while providing decent AoE damage. Also, neither of your builds have good damage mitigation, which I think will be important for Hell/Inferno, especially since you will be in close quarters with numerous enemies (the difficulty of Hell/Inferno is only speculation, but from the You Will Die video, it seems as though Blizzard is stressing the importance of balanced builds).
This would be my take on a build that keeps WotB active as long as possible. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#bdVSeP!YdV!ZccaYc
Fairly simple, one distance closer, one fury dump, one offensive buff, one defensive buff, and you don't have to worry about managing a bunch of skills. War Cry/Battle Rage every 30 sec, Leap Attack as soon as ready, Weapon Throw when full fury and Cleave rest of the time. The key would be finding enough enemies and getting to them quick enough to keep cleaving away.
I agree with your your build and your explanation, but I wonder if you can generate enough fury with only Cleave.
I also think you could have taken anything else for Battle Rage, you could use Revenge with Vengeance is Mine...
Dread Bomb seems good though.
I was leaning toward a crit build myself: http://syl.comli.com...eURP!ZYd!cZbYZc
But my survivability is pretty low, it's based on killing stuff fast and life leech ^^;;
We'll certainly have to updated our builds when we'll play the game
@Ottosen: the tooltip doesn't say that, unless they forget to write this.
It would be counter-intuitive, would it mean you only get crit with axe and fury generator?
I don't think so...
wow nice ^^ I asked in General about energy pool size, but I didn't get any answers...
based on your clip, it seems the barbarian has 50 fury, is it right?
In my opinion Wrath of the Berserker is a rather weak cooldown unless you have it runed for either Insanity or Slaughter. Also while a Thrive on Chaos build sounds cool realistically I think it wouldn't be that great unless you're in a place like the D2 cow level and there are enemies everywhere.

Keep in mind though by the time we reach Inferno there are gonna be tons of mobs to kill, and since the rune isnt even usable til max level I think well be fine. Im sure Blizzard intented WotB(Thrive on Chaos) to be something that we can make a build around, and syngergize appropriately through trial and error I guess. But to survive Inferno with this build I think were gonna need to switch out some passives and active skills for a little more survivability. But guess well have to wait til release to figure out how long (with the right skills) that we'll be able to keep WotB up.
This is my new build keeping in mind that, we will definately need a fury dump in case we reach max fury, and trying to balance out damage output with survivability. This is more of a crit build.
Passives: Ruthless: Works well with the crit build Nerves of Steel: Patch 14 increased the passive to 100% additional Armor of your Vitality (can't really pass this up, think this passive is going to be seen a lot more in barb builds). It also allows me to take War Cry(Charge!) for an additional 2 seconds on WotB. Animosity: 120 Max Fury for Dread Bomb and more Fury to work with before Fury dump, and of course the regen.
Cleave, Overpower, and War Cry for Fury builders.
Leap Attack(Iron Impact) for more survivability and an oh shit skill
Weapon Throw(Dread Bomb) Fury dump so I can keep building Fury and keep WotB up longer, plus it will cause a lot of damage
WotB(Thrive on Chaos) Build based on keeping this up for as long as possible.
Idk looks solid to me, what do you guys think?
Edit: Patch 14 changes that effect this build War Cry: nerfed again (but we got 30% passive reduction, which kinda changes back to 50% :D) Leap Attack: now it's called just leap, and it got a huge buff, also slowing monsters in the target area. WOW! Weapon Throw: nerfed again to 120% weapon damage Overpower: ability is changed again. Now, each time you crit, you have a chance to lower the CD by 1 second. The damage was nerfed by 95% too: now it deals 165% weapon damage.
Nerves of Steel back to 100% vitality to armor

Not to be a party pooper, but the Weapon Master passive with a mighty weapon only generates fury on fury generating attacks. If you use a mighty weapon with a fury spending attack, the passive gives you nothing.
Using Weapon Master inclines me to wield an axe. The barb (maybe even more than the other classes) has skills with a lot of potential with a high crit chance. http://us.battle.net...ePUQ!TZY!aZbbZY . Frenzy is a skill that I could see becoming my go to against strong units like champions. You chop one guys down and you have AOE skills to keep his buddies down. I think my build is lacking in defense but the life generation possibility might make up for it. Your build (THE ORIGINL POSTER NOT THE QUOTED POST) has a blood explosion with rend but I prefer slaughter on WotB. Health out of frenzy, rend and juggernaut give me freedom to micro mobs, take my time and make sure I'm always good on health. Juggernaut is going to be a skill that makes chapion packs with stunn, fear and charmed easier to manage and sometimes possible to kill. I also made overpower fuel the critical strike element of the build with killing spree , killing spree has the potential of making WotB-slaughter+Whirlwind a mean ass combo.

Yeah I was leaning towards switching overpower out for it. probably a good call especially with the overpower nerf.
http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#bVdRSP!ZbW!ZcccZc and revenge got buffed to 6% life
