Meh, I'm almost done with Nightmare. A bit on the easy side even in Act 4. I really like the difficulty of it atm; the shitty normal monsters are easy to beat, while some of the rares/champions are real hard, especially those with the vampiric affix. I sometimes have to "kill off" my follower and Mystic Ally just so that I can deplete their life, since they replenish their life faster than I can deal it.
That's my current level 50 Monk build. I do switch some of the runes around, but most of the times I use this build. To anyone who has a level 50-60 Monk, I find that Dashing Strike is kinda, useless, or rather I don't use it as much. Now that the difficulty is getting higher I'm sure I'll need another defensive/healing skill to replace DS. Which one is good? I've used Serenity, Inner Sanctuary and Blinding Flash but it doesn't seem to help that much...any advice? Oh and how long does your Mystic Ally lasts in Hell/Inferno? Cause atm it is really useful for taking damage instead of myself.
On a side note: why can't Dashing Strike get used to escape from monsters? No matter how far on the screen I press, if it's not on a monster, it'll only go like 2 yards? I'll probably keep using it if it worked.
@Trombone: I kinda feel the same way, not necessarily about the difficulty (since I'm still in Nightmare), but about D3 as a whole. It just doesn't have that x-factor that wants me to go back for more. Instead of waking up and playing D3, I play Bf3 and then only afterwards play some D3. When I start playing it really is fun and I can play for hours, but it doesn't have that feeling of "addictiveness". Maybe it's a good thing.
I've read quite a few topics of the AH and how Blizz kinda force you to use it:
1 - Game to difficult? Go buy some gear in the AH.
2 - Wanna trade something with your friend or random dude? Please quit your game and go to the AH. (haven't done it myself, not sure how legit trading works)
3 - Your characters' drops are affected by what's on the AH. From what I could understand from Bashiok's confusing post (confusing for me), is that they do take into account how many of what are in the AH with the chances of that particular item dropping...something like that. Again this force you to go buy items.
With all the hacking going on, I'm can't see Blizz opening the RMAH any time soon. Even if they open the RMAH tomorrow, knowing that the account hacking doesn't influence the RMAH, many many players will still stay clear from it till the hacking has been dealt with. I for one aren't going to use it at all.
I will agree with the one point the guy made about the cutscenes getting in the way of the game. There really does need to be an option to skip them automatically. I can't relate to the difficulty spike, but if it's really that bad then I'll probably just enjoy the game in Hell or Nightmare mode, whichever one I can play for fun.
He mentions the rune and charms that were in Diablo 2, but I recall those being added in the expansion. I have faith that Diablo 3 will evolve as the game gets older. I'm sure there will be a skip cutscenes option added eventually. The balance will be tweaked.
Maybe I just haven't played enough to get to the point of being angry at the game.
Wow all the heavy Siskel and Ebert reviews. I just enjoy the story line and smiting evil as I go. D3 Feels like D2 on steroids to me.
You know what I really hate though? F***ing Windows in any mother f***ing flavor! It doesn't matter if it's Windows 7 or Windows 2008 R2, fricken evil POS. Our production server, heavily used I might add has 14TB of drive space broken out in 2TB or less allocations spanning drive letters and mount points on our SAN. The SAN is happy as a bug but not fricken Windows mount points! They are losing their brains and disappearing because of damn Windows update issues. So here I sit at work applying more patches and registry hacks to fix the issue. 25 years of this shit, I would punch Steve Ballmer in the face if he were in my office right now, Ballmer is the mother f***ing Fred Flintstone of technology.
At least you are not missing much VegasRage. I literally was not able to play Diablo 3 at all today due to extended server maintenance, then some sort of "emergency maintenance" to fix the error of me not being able to log on after the extended maintenance. Now I'm getting error #37 (servers full). Lucky me not having anything to do today! At least I had some forum drama and youtube to keep me entertained.
Edit: I finally got passed the Error #37. Now I'm waiting for it to retrieve my hero list.. much like before the "emergency maintenance."
Edit 2: Errored out of waiting for hero list... now more Error #37. Awesome.
@nacho_ljp Dyes seriously are great. Seems like you have to run around in mismatched gear most of the time. With the right combination of dyes, you can make items that are less than two tiers apart look alright most. When you can't there's vanishing dye. LOL!
I had the helm from the balor set with a cloth looking DH cloak for a few levels. The helmet looked so out of place, and I was so happy to be able to keep it from displaying.
I've not really tried to make anything cool looking. Gear changes so fast. I've jsut been focused on making it look acceptable while I level.
@Tralari That's the kind of stuff that makes online games fun. People are too serious! Hardcore naked barb SK runs! LOL!
@Freddy I like this game now, but I wouldn't dream of using the RMAH if it came out right now. The economy is so unstable, and the server setup seems a bit flaky. There were already all those achievements lost. Then there's possible itemization changes on the horizon, and inferno is probably getting some serious changes that will effect what stats you need on your gear.
It's probably just as well that they are pushing it back. But yeh, the auction house is pretty weird right now.
Well... considering I only have about 40ish hours in two weeks of game play I'm not too upset. The server crap yesterday was annoying but I did manage to get in and play for about 2 hours, honestly I want to play as much as the next person but if there are problems I do something else like hang out with my neglected soon to be wife.
I'm not at Inferno yet and I know there really aren't many viable builds at the moment but between normal/nightmare/hell you can pick and choose a lot and theoretically the fun/balance in those modes is above the bar compared to D2. I think the main issue is people are accepting Inferno as Hell mode for D2 when it’s not...
The main mood aspect people are missing is itemization, they have changed it to a WoW scaling approach and it's hard to get excited when any items drop because it’s very very very random. The fact the weapons are the main focus now DPS > everything has made all items below 60 useless. It's taken awhile to adjust to the difficulty creep of gear and to an extent it is a nice approach (farming in harder content rather than easy); basically Act 1 Inferno or Act 4 Hell compared to doing boss runs in nightmare all the time.
The downfall is I have no reason to ever muck around in the earlier modes unless I’m achievement farming. The lack of drops for sets and legendaries is kind of sad but it’s not much worse than D2, there were just a lot more items in D2 and in time I’m sure they will be added to D3. Again the main problem is the scaling portion so even if they did add a lot more legendaries most of them have little use now due to all spells being based on weapon damage. The PvP patch adding special affixes will help the situation but may only be useful in PvP for all we know.
D3 is all about items, and they have changed how items worked. This is why people have a different feel, I don’t agree with the whole new concept but we’ll see how they balance things in the future. Still a great game and I still itch to play, longevity cannot be considered at this time, there is a lot content to be addressed still.

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
If you guys are getting error 37 just paste your password over and over and spam login, it'll take eventually...
Same deal as launch night.
I have a tip for logging in (I've posted it before): Type in your username and password and hit enter. Wait a bit and click cancel just before it gives you the error. Type your shit in again and press enter. Might work. Heard if this on reddit. Some guy did it twice and worked each time as well as a guy that commented. Might not work since the patch, but give it a shot!
My first participant has completed the testing protocol for my first PhD study!!! They started back in February!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally light at the end of the tunnel with work, 18 hour days the last 2 days, I'll sleep well tonight. Still managed to squeeze in an hour of D3 with the witch doctor even though and then today I found out I close on the new house tomorrow. Today was a good day.

Impressive!
Ha ha. I know right. I love how they spam the "No." emote over and over again. The laughter at the very beginning got me as well.
Same deal as launch night.
now my ass is being kicked by the freaking lacuni, in D2 was the same, I hate the lacuni!!
