this is my creative post for the beta contest :).
If you're having trouble finding a new game to play while you wait for Diablo 3 like i am
and want to find something to tide you over then maybe this post will help you.
here i will list a few games that ive been trying and you can try also
to help keep your mind of D3 till release,
and maybe others will post what they are playing and help to add more games.
Mythos Global - free to play/mmo hack slash (closest thing i have found to diablo 2 really fun game i recommend this) http://mythos.t3fun.com/base.html
Starcraft 2 - starter edition is free to play/rts. you can play custom games and a couple missions on the campaign http://us.battle.net...en/blog/3250656
While I think HoN is a great game, been playing it since beta and still enjoys it, it should be added to it that the game and the community is not noob friendly at all. Alot of people do not care if you are new they will whine if you fail. Best experience might come if you start up with a few friends who know the game already.
I have never tried LoL but I will only assume the community isnt much better there.
yes you are right about this and the community in LoL isnt much better people can try to just ignore them and enjoy the games both are very good games in their own ways.
added modern warfare 3 free to play multiplayer only last a limited time. starts today thursday the 16th ends sunday the 19th must have steam client to play(steam is also free).
League of legends, WoW, and SWTOR are what i'm playing right now. Idk started playing SWTOR because my friends got into it; but pvp in SWTOR just made me miss WoW so I picked it up again. I play league cause you can't go wrong with free games.
added:
metin 2 free to play action mmorpg
world of warcraft starter edition free to play (up to lvl 30) mmorpg
starcraft 2 starter edition free to play/rts (you can play custom games and a couple missions on campaign)
thanks for every one who posted and said what they are playing its helping me out alot when im updating this list
and/or looking for another game to play myself even if i dont get a beta key im going to keep this page updated till diablo 3 comes out. and i will continue to find games that i think you guys will like.
As far as I know the free to play WoW goes to level 20, not 30. If you're really looking to keep occupied though WoW is a dastardly time-thief. Also, Battlefield 3 is a blast to play with friends and flying helicopters in it is one of the most fun things I can recommend in any game!
Been watching Force's Kingdom of Amalur play throughs, looks like it might be a pretty fun game to play in the meantime. The gameplay and combat style looks cool. Heard it is a pretty large game, main story line is 40-50 hours. Figuring we hopefully only have 2 1/2 months left to wait till release.

I hope this gets people started and please other post what you play or what you recommend i would also like to find something new to play thanks guys.
you should add KoA:Reckoning, its a good singleplayer rpg its got the loot grind similiar to diablo plus the action hack and slash is pretty addictive.
Edit: nevermind didnt see someone else already mentioned it lol either way though overall its a great game!
Not that it is a new game but Amnesia: The dark decent is a game id recomend if your not weak hearted :P!
And if you are lucky enough to get a Dota2 beta id recomend that aswell
Right now I'm raiding w/ my WoW guild, still playing D2, Fallout 3, Dungeons of Dredmor. Finished Torchlight and Bastion a while back, both highly recommended. Played a bit of Minecraft when I was visiting my brother - I can see why it can get addictive. I'd heard good things about Dwarf Fortress, but it was too hard to get into.
Been splitting my time between League of Legends and Kingdom of Amalur. Read:when my buddy is on we duo queue LoL and the other 16 hours of wakefulness in my day are spent in KoA. Soooooooo fun!

You dont really have to try and ignore them. You can really quickly ignore every player by getting stats window up right click the player and click ignore Don't know if you can do that in HoN, but I would suggest casual players to play LoL instead, as HoN in general is a much harder game to play.
Me myself played HoN in the beginning, but went over to LoL because it was a bit more player friendly. I miss the denying in LoL, but there are other mechanics I like over HoN.
Might be many whiners now? But I play World of Warcraft to make the time go... As well with Starcraft 2, and from time to time LoL.
I tried Star Wars, but I kind of disliked the game, except the well made story line. It actually wasn't boring to level with the good animation cinematic, but I did not like the PVP and PVE after max level.
You can always go back to some classic games like Counter strike!
honestly, i'd say do other real life things while you still can before the game comes out haha. i know i won't have much time for other things.
Also i've not been listening to my own advice and playing d2 anyway.
I think most of the players who are playing hardcore doesn't really like to see the daylight. Probably a lot of people out there with social anxiety as well, like me^^
