"Hey, I thought you'd like the witty irony of grub-on-glowie violence!"
I have to say I like the change. Four player games feel pretty hectic already... and I can scarcely recall a time in an 8 player D2 game where all eight players were all together (and contributing).

From what I remember there were always a tiny few who were active and the others were always afk

Nice thread, you sure bring some arguments to the table. [/sarcasm]
Personnaly, I think it is a very good change, considering what other people said in this thread, and that blizz wants people to work as a team in the later difficulty levels. The more people you have in a team, the harder it is to organize, and you'd either fight mobs or spend your time looting while the others fight.

So far it's been ok! hopefully it wont get out of hand

I have more than 4 friends I play Diablo with. We've played together as a group since Diablo 2 came out. Group of Highschool friends who live far apart now and our means of staying in touch are in games. WoW, D2, TF2, etc. Limiting us to not being able to all play togther as we did in D2 is just stupid.
@Thatyrael Great post, you sure bring some dumb to the table.
Playing with anymore then 4 just gets boring. If you go off by yourself things take forever to kill, if you tag along with the group of 8 you just feel like one of many, thus you aren't really contributing very much (unless you are the token carry). The only time you would really reach 8 players is during XP farm runs which were normally 1 super powered character farming mobs for 7 people standing off to the side. 4 players is much more personal. Though I will admit that sucks that you have a larger group than 4 players that you normally play with. My main group is usually 4 anyways, so that part doesn't really affect me.

I was playing last night with two of my frineds. There was so much crap on the screen and so many things going on that I couldn't keep track of what I was dong let alone my friends. I can only imagine if there was a fourth player involved. So I'm very glad there is a 4 player cap.
And yes, Blizzard is stupid for making a decision at the expense of you tiny-ass little play group. Shame on them. I hope they burn in hell! You know thre are other ways to communicate. It's called a phone and email. We also have these things now called cars, planes, and trains that allow people to travel great distences in order to see and do things like...I don't know...seeing frineds. I know its a novel idea but maybe you should try it.
No, the dumbest freakin' thing they could possibly do is require a constant internet connection!! My god, seriously??? It's not an online game unless you want it to be one AND THEN you should (obviously) have an internet connection. Eight years! I've been waiting for this game for eight years -- the waiting, the hype, the waiting.... and it SUCKS!!! (awesome graphics, though) But seriously... no character customization, no zooming in or out, and... click to move? I understand that the original Diablo was click to move, I understand sentiment, tradition, what have you, but PC gaming has advanced. The game is VERY dissappointing in my opinion, especially the constant internet connection requirement. Diablo 3 plays like a game that was developed 10 years ago with modern day graphics. Where's the advancement, the evolution of PC gaming? Didn't Blizz make WoW? What... is their Diablo 3 department where they put the newbie programmers before they graduate to the WoW department?
So... if there's a storm in my neck of the woods (pretty common) and my internet goes down (also common) I can't play Diablo like I'm used to playing Diablo? I'm subject to server down time for a game that's not an online game unless I want it to be an online game? I have to put up with lag for a game that's not an online game unless I want it to be an online game? I have to wait in a queue because the server's full for a game that's not an online game unless I want it to be an online game? When I played Diablo 2 I played on Battlenet exactly once; I usually played it by myself or with a friend on a private network -- it's not an online game! Unless, of course, I want it to be an online game.
Am I ever gonna use Diablo 3's online auction house? No, I like finding my own stuff and I don't really care about putting the crap I find on the AH. Am I ever gonna play on Diablo 3's public servers? No, I can't imagine sharing that small of an environment with a bunch of rude and careless newb's, especially when I think about how rude players were and how cut-throat WoW became after just a couple of years (who can forget the dicks that went AFK while sitting on a mailbox in Org. on their mammoth war mounts?)
Diablo has always been a game that I played while unwinding after a busy (or even not-so-busy) day, before going to bed and usually ended up playing too long (and not getting enough sleep) because I enjoyed exploring a zone and kept logging out and resetting the zone so I could explore it again -- alone, and occasionally with a friend.
Am I gonna buy Diablo 3? No. After all the waiting and all the hype, I expected too much and am too dissappointed with it -- if it didn't require a constant internet connection, I'd buy it just to relive the good ol' days and, out of curiousity, see what's new in the game, but I'm too bummed out with the way it came out and the constant online thing is just too much for me.

Good, leave. The rest of us would like the OPTION to use the AH, or the OPTION to play with others. In this day almost every internet connection is always-on. Sure there are a few exceptions, but those are rare.
Your internet connection's crappy connectivity isn't Blizzard's fault, it's your ISP's. Maybe you should be complaining to them?
Even during open beta there wasn't very much lag caused by the server, and I didn't experience a single queue playing every day.
Duo is awesome, trio works fine if people are following and know what they are doing, 4 people is getting messy but still works out fine as long as people are disciplined, preferably together on mumble/TS, but at this point i'm starting having a hard time figuring out wth is going on on my screen.. so yeah.. 8 players groups? LOL
To the troll with the wall of text: I live in ecuador, south america. Even wih our crappy ISPs i have internet connection 24/7 and play without lag.
So if i can play D3 almost everybody can.
To the OP as 4 player per game is to low is you argument, yours is the burden of proof. You didn't do that in your original post, thats why this can be considered trolling. (and the reasns you subsequentally gave us were just opinions, which are not a good argument against blizzard's four player cap arguments.

How this is read:
"I never played D2."
Just sayin, your argument, on the assumption it exists, is dated.
I remember forum posts insisting on ridiculous numbers back in the day.
If I recall correctly as well, pvp may offer the potential for 4on4.

4 DH and 4 WD and you might as well just use a mouse.
Conform or be cast out.
