I know nothing has been confrimed yet but I thought good people of this forum may have an answer based on solid evidences and sound opinions so here it goes.
my friend came up with what i think is a 'nonsense idea' that demonic essence will not be used in the expansion pack because it only piles up to 100 per one slot of inventory.
i didnt get what he was saying in the first place..
his claim is that all other materials such as exiquisite essence and iridescent tear pile up to 500 per a slot and even all the lower rank ones too. he thinks its a 'sign' from blizzard
my friend has been farming demonic essence for quite some time now and he just doesnt want all his endeavor to go down the drain
hes really worried and wanted me to ask this here
if anybody knows anything or have any insight regarding this matter please do share your opinion!
Well from the playable demo @ gamescom you will use 1 demonic essence, 1 fiery brimstone, 1 shadow stone for transmog and 1 demonic essence + ghost essence + gem for enchanting
as mention above u will need de but with 1 extra thing so u cant right away craft or enchant like x1000
I'm curious if only act 5 will drop the new mats and you'd have to do acts 1-4 for the old mats. They could also make it so that any act will drop both the old and new mats.
Either way current mats will not be useless. They just won't be worth hoarding now unless they do decide to make them only drop in acts 1-4 while only being able to get new mats in act 5.
I do have a hard time believing they would do anything that would force people to a specific act though, even if it was the "new" one.

Having Act V be the only source of new materials would discourage players from visiting other acts, something Blizzard doesn't want to do. It's also something they addressed with Inferno. My thoughts are we'll see Exquisite Essence and Iridescent Tears moved into Hell Acts III - V.
Not necessarily. They could just as easily introduce just one new material. That would effectively bottleneck crafting, so one couldn't just hoard mats and craft like a maniac come RoS.
Not to mention there's very little to lose from hoarding some mats anyway. I mean unless a couple hundred thousand gold is going to make/break your existence in RoS.... then by all means, don't hoard, I guess.
I have a stash tab full of crafting stuff. If it's useful, grats to me... if not, to the vendor it goes. I don't feel like I'm losing out on anything by squirreling away some stuff, though. I feel like I'd be losing out by prioritizing a fairly trivial amount of gold over potential preparation.

I know which is why I said it's not something I see them doing already.
Also about the hell act 3-5 thing... there's been a lot of speculation that they will drop down to 3 difficulties. Even Blizzard's responses to questions about it all hint towards changes with the difficulties.
Isn't It kind of obvious they're going to introduce other high lvl mats to reset the economy a little bit?
To think otherwise is just naive.

Did you not read the thread.. they already have 1 new material in the mystic recipes. This is confirmed as of RoS announcement... sure it could change. But there's no point in adding more than 1.
As you've already pointed out with 1 new mat being introduced it reduces the value of hoarding DE's significantly. The only way you would benefit from hoarding DE, is if they make it inconvenient to farm both DE and GE (ghost essence) at the same time.
