With the reveal of the paragon system they created a cap of 300% MF. Which is obtainable at level 100 paragon. So Magic find on gear I now believe is just a worthless stat. I imagine it will take about 30-45 hours TOPS to get to level 100 Paragon. Which is obtainable easily in less than a week. Unless someone has some other information, I believe it will be the end of magic find.

Did you even read the article or did you just skim it. You may have no life to the point of hitting paragon level 100 in a ridiculously quick amount of time, others do not. The simple fact that paragon level one will take as long as lvl 59-60 took means its a good 3 hours of grinding on that one alone. Unless of course you find some exp loop hole and repeat the quest endlessly. Even so you would still be looking at an hour easy. And that is the quickest level. 35-40 hours? I seriously doubt it. I don't think that will even see you yo paragon level 20 even if you cheat.
But w/e, lets just throw up another DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM thread of a forum that's already filled with them instead of taking a few extra seconds to read the article properly and then, OMG, THINK about what was said.
I like it, even though I was very sceptical at first, since I found it interesting to get perfect MF + GF items with viable stats to grind. The only problem I see here now, is no real need for awesome gear power-wise. But it gives me a lot of hope for the "after 1.1 end game patch" which will probably go live when first players get to paragon 100. It also brings interesting choices, like red or yellow gem in the helmet.
I hope they really worked hard on that, and we won't see exploits that will allow this max paragon level to be achieved faster than few months.
How are you going to like it when bots will be the first to Paragon 100? They will no longer need mf or gf gear and will be able to equip very powerful gear and enable them to bot even harder shit. Just another aspect of the game for bots to excel whilst everyone else is left in the dust.

I wish they'd remove GF from paragon and NV. That way, bots will contribute more items and less gold to the economy. "What's that, bot? You want to flood the market with increasingly cheap BiS items? You may proceed."

Who cares?
Paragon Levels just make an account ban hurt that much more.
As a bit of a side issue.. it has been pointed out that +xp on kill affix doesn't appear on items above ilvl 55 (?). Makes sense, it would have been nothing but a source of rage to get that on endgame gear.
But now that there is levelling beyond 60, might it not make sense to tweak the affix tables and put top-shelf (i.e. all the way up to ilvl 63) +xp affixes into the mix? The only people who wouldn't get any value from them would be those who had already hit Paragon 100, and given that they also have GF and MF as two useless affixes, I don't see that as a reason not to allow +xp on endgame items.
What Jay meant to say: "We know you all wanted to work on leveling to 99 while looking for lootz, but we dropped that ball. So here's 100 more levels for you! Also, we have no earthly idea how the team at Blizzard North made their magic find system work so flawlessly, so here's some MF with those levels, so we can remove MF from items, because we are clueless of how to make it work."
The D2 magic find system was far from perfect for a very long time. There was even a bug untill 1.08 fixed it where the MF system would punish you for having over 149% MF.
Honestly it feels like everyone who posts that D2 was so much better in so many ways tends to forget that it wasn't like that at the start.
Addition: Looking back at patch notes, Magic Find might not have even worked on chests and items found by barbarians with their find item skill. It's funny the things we forget.
It's funny how Diablo 2 was released June 29, 2000.Diablo 2: LoD was released June 27, 2001. Diablo 3 was release May 15, 2012.
That the same (or similar) "issues" exist at the release of the game, 11 years later, is laughable. It shows a lack of experience with the genre. Look, if I knew that 11 years ago we put out a game that had "X, Y, and Z" problems, the last thing I would do would be to reproduce "X, Y, and Z" problems.
You mention the "MF fix" with the diminishing returns and what-not. Let me ask you, if you knew that before the MF fix there was a problem, necessitating a fix, then why would you re-create that problem on purpose? It's asinine.
It's like saying you know movies were in black and white when they first came out, but we learned how to make them color, so we went back to black and white on purpose, only to turn right around and put it into color.
Dunno what you're talking about there kid, D3 addressed a horde of problems from D2. Like the whole game consisting of Baal runs (which in 11 years of D2 they never succeeded in stopping), the primitive talent trees, the immunities in Hell, the fact you couldn't transfer items from one toon to another, the fact gold had no worth in the game...
The whole MF "issue" was not even considered an issue back in D2. The fact that it is now is really a sign of how much more sophisticated games have become - and the gaming audience as well.
People talk about D2 taking time to become "polished" but hell, that game was never polished. By modern standards it's a broken unplayable piece of crap with 0 difficulty and no endgame...

As several people said when this Paragon info first starting being datamined, the system really needs to be accompanied by some brutal and effective application of the Immortal King's Banhammer.
They said getting to Paragon level 100 will take roughly the same amount of time that it did to get to level 99 in Diablo 2. How many of you have level 99s?
I had a lvl 95 in classic, that is like 30x 99's in the expansion

I'm thinking more like 100 hours + to reach the max-out. That's per char....MF will still be prudent in many respects.

Yeah... and perhaps much more. It's going to be a long grind... on each character... MF isn't relegated to insignificance by this change.
LOL 30-45 hours to get to 100 paragon level, sorry bro but the d2 grind to 99 was almost i think a month of game time, it will probably take almost 300+ hours to get maxed.
Man JW didn't even know the max MF, he actually said, you can't get 300 MF, maybe he means without follower?
Im at 312% MF atm. Maybe i'll be able to drop 1 piece of MF gear for my AR set at lvl 1 ?
Looking forward to the change.
... I have to stop and think before I can remember my kid's birthdays. I wouldn't get too excited about JW getting the MF cap wrong. I'd be willing to bet that they just picked '3' as their MF per paragon level, got someone to hit the character database to find out how many people had more than that, and when it came up as "0.012%" the team lead said "Tell Jay we're sticking with 3% per level... and get me a coffee.".

Upon further thought, my original 'off-the-cuff' assessment of 100 hours I think is woefully short. I believe 300+ is the least we'll see people accomplishing this.

Yes, because it's nice to have crazy gear with magic find on them.
This cap is utterly retarded.
I'm speechless about this decision.

oh well, at least we still get stats for plvl..
