With the reveal of the paragon system they created a cap of 300% MF. Which is obtainable at level 100 paragon. So Magic find on gear I now believe is just a worthless stat. I imagine it will take about 30-45 hours TOPS to get to level 100 Paragon. Which is obtainable easily in less than a week. Unless someone has some other information, I believe it will be the end of magic find.
hmmm .. I guess it will take someone here that actually lvl'd a toon in D2 to 99 to see if you 30-45 estimate is accurate. My guess is that you are not even close.
Well considering they said the higher lvls will be equal to 98-99 in D2 so MF will have some use for a while. I personally hate MF and balancing it on my melee especially as a melee so the change is well liked.
If you read the post regarding magic find you'll see that they do want to move away slightly from MF gear and make other gear matter more, however they didn't want to just get rid of it. So they figure magic find is useful untill you get to paragon level 100 then you don't need it anymore.
Keep in mind it takes 3 times the amount of xp to get from level 60 to paragon level 1. About 135 times that to get all the way to level 100. I think your values are heavily underestimating how long it'll take. This might end up being more like the level 99 grind all over again, which I think is going to make some happy.
lol OP. No, MF will be a very important stat for a very long time. If people start dumping their mf gear now, then everyone should BUY IT UP, because if people are foolish enough to dump something that will have use for most of their paragon levels then that is their loss. Perhaps eventually sometime years from now the mf gear will degrade to complete worthlessness, but I have a feeling those mf items will hold their value for a while.
The bigger problem is that you can still MF swap. Even if you are a low paragon level, you can still completely forgo MF on gear and swap it right before a kill. I really wish they would have fixed the problem they said they were going to fix (gear swapping).
The only saving grace is if the new increased MF on trash is worth it. Maybe the x4 increased rare rates will make it important to run with full MF on the trash as well.
I don't think they said gear swapping was a problem. They were just looking for something different for people that didn't want to gear swap. I think this is a pretty good solution. As for the exp thing, you think 30-45 hours for level 100? I'm guessing 300-450 hours is barely going to do it, if even that.
Core stats such as Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Vitality in amounts similar to what you’d gain from a normal level
3% Magic Find and 3% Gold Find
Every second you play and kill stuff will eventually make your character just that much stronger.
Since each level will now give a boost to your current base stats mobs will die just that much faster and you'll stay alive just that much longer. Over time you'll be replacing the items with MF &GF you have now.
I like this change and it will keep me playing at least an hour or two daily.
Given that you'll have to kill 7-8 million mobs to get to Paragon level 100, at about 1400xp each, and that the maximum +xp you can get from gear is 332 (24 per slot I believe), you're much better off keeping your dps gear and maxing out your Nephalem Valor stacks for the 75% xp boost. The 332 +xp/mob bonus only works out to ~24%. Might be worth it for some people, but probably not for me

I don't hate my parents, I don't get drunk just to spite them.
I have my own reasons to drink, I think I'll call my Dad up and invite him.
All of the + exp mods on gear are currently like farting into a hurricane, except for rubies in a socketed helm, and rubies have already massively jumped in value. Also keep in mind that if white mobs drop at roughly 4x the current rate, keeping mf gear on at all times gains some value.
The thing that saddens me the most is what will happen next.
Probably a lot of people who wanted this so badly as a way to remind them of D2's lvl 99 and that wanted some sort of progression system in the end game will probably try the patch really quickly, not get instant gratification (still complain about the drops and "unfair" elites/AH), and then stop playing again despite all the work that has been put in the system.
They'll also very likely complain on the forums how achieving lvl 100 paragon is impossible and that it is the most boring grinding ever made by Blizzard.
Looking forward to see mr. "I wanted this so badly and we all loved getting to lvl 99" Kripparian get to Paragon lvl 100. Yeah, we shall see.

The thought of killing 6.5 million Hulking Phase Beasts makes me want to go strangle someone!
I'll stick to dust imps I think.

I'm an adult now... (TPOH)
349950 total kills and 18142 elites...
With that i lvled 3 toons to 60 and farmed endlessly on inferno.
And with all that... id still be roughly 7.8 mil imps short of lvl 100 Paragon.
So tell me again how is it that MF will be worthless very soon, and also how it will only take 40 hours to kill 8 million imps...
