I was playing with a real-life friend a few days ago when my first Legendary item dropped. I took a screen shot of it and posted it on our facebook group's wall, and he swore over and over that he cannot tell the difference between the orange text and the white text. This makes me wonder if he may have potentially passed a lot of Legendary items because he can't see them?
Does anyone else with color blindness have this problem?
OT: If what he is saying is true he should report that on the blizzard technical support forums. I know WoW has some options for those with color blindness.
There are several forms of color blindness ranging from a complete lack of the ability to distinguish colors, over red/green and blue/yellow color blindness to impaired but essentially functional vision of any of the RGB colors.
Then there can be differences in the way your brain processes the color information sent by your cones (some of them probably cultural) which can also result in various forms and degrees of color blindness.
"I am color-blind and can distinguish this just fine" is a pretty useless statement.
a) 1% Maybe a glitch
1% Maybe a problem with his graphics card
c) 98% your friend is stupid
Just using my brain...
Or, crazy idea, he actually is colorblind. But no, it's easier to just call people stupid.
There's tons of different varieties of colorblindness, so even if someone who suffers from it comes into the thread and says they can see it fine (which I note has already happened), it doesn't mean the OP's friend is able to.
He should definitely report it to Blizzard: they're getting to be pretty accomodating towards color blindness, so it's definitely something they'd be interested in so they can get it fixed.
Im colorblind and cant tell the difference between the legendary and the background, i think thats what his friend means, all you people saying im colorblind and can see it fine are like those people who dont like certain foods so claim allergy IMO
Go to Photoshop -> remove ALL colors from the image = you can still CLEARLY see the difference between the legendary and the rest of the items. The rares and the whites are a bit harder. OP is being trolled by a friend. Nothing more.
Yes, because you know exactly how everyone's eyes work with your omnipotence.
You may well be right, but your personal experience with your own version of color blindness doesn't mean you're the absolute law on the subject. Making such a judgement call based on very little information (without the OP's friend here to clarify anything or defend his position) is quite premature, to say the least.
At any rate, I'd much rather have faith in someone then be proven wrong, than to be utterly cynical and believe everyone to be liars.
I find it difficult to see on certain backgrounds. In fact, I almost missed picking up one of my legendary drops because it was on a brown background. I didn't even see it when it dropped but luckily I went back over that area later and saw a legendary on the ground. I wish it were a brighter color, I don't think it's a smart move to make the most rare item in the game to be so bland. Make it neon pink.
I can barely tell the difference if I'm running around killing stuff. Now if I'm sitting collecting loot off a boss or champion I will see it, but I've almost missed one that came out of a weapon rack.
I am color-blind: I can see them although it is hard to see/read. Basically I know there is something else there that doesnt fit from the wierd color. I can imagine that certain areas with odd backgrounds could almost make them invisible to some people who are worse than I am. It would be nice if there was a color-blind option like in CoD:MW3.
I have found 4 Legandaries so far: Uskang - Normal Act 1 [Mob] / Eye of Eldritch - Normal Act 2 [Sun-dried corpse] / Hammer Jammers - Act 3 NM [Mob] / Blackguard - Act 1 Hell [Stone Vault - Defiles Crypt]

As someone with achromatopsia (full colorblindness), I can tell the difference in shade colors fairly easily (for basic colors), so I know when something is red, yellow, blue, white, and gray b/c I know what shade of gray correlates to what color.
It's like watching a B&W movie and knowing that the actor is wearing a yellow shirt, for example.
Most colorblind people can do this with relative ease.
Yep. Colorblind and can't really tell the difference between Set items and Rare items. Legendary are slightly darker so I can see those.
This. I'ma blue/yellow colorblind by it's name, but to be specific, it is a small lack of blue in my eye. I cant tell Yellow from Lighter shades of Green. I also cant tell the difference between shades of blue and purple.
I cant tell the difference between Rare and set items. If i look at two right next to each other, atter looking at it for 5-10 minutes i can see a minimal shade difference, but by that time, the "Tal Rasha's" or "Immortal King's" will have given away that it was a set piece.
I have no issues with legendaries, or any shades of red.
For the longest time in WoW, i couldnt tell blues from purples. But turns out with years of playing, i managed to get my brain to make a difference.

I mean, if he missed any, he did not miss many.
And if he did, chances are they were crap.
But doesn't this game have color-blind options?

Also high chance he's being trolled.
