I’ve been playing blizzard games for at least as long as you have, if not longer. a lot of people say this before stating their opinion, I think in large part, to show that while they do love the games, and are avid blizzard fans, even god makes mistakes (look at the platypus). Its ok to provide constructive critisicm, contrary to the cult mentality a lot of blizzard gamers have. I’ve played starcraft I since the day it came out, and the original Diablo games for pretty much ever. Warcraft was ok, and world of warcraft… well lets just call a spade a spade… I hated the game for the simple reason that if I wanted to wave to someone, I’d do it in real life, and not in a game. I play games so I don’t have to socialize, or worry about my reputation.
But nay, I digress. I’d like to post my quick review / questionnaire online, something which I’ve never really done before because, well hell – servers are down again. And while I wont go nuts because of the ‘scheduled maintenance – cough cough – do that stuff before release’ – I wont fault people for getting annoyed that the servers are down when people with jobs and families do take off of work to play. Blizzard fans have been around for a while. I was in highschool when I first got owned by a zergling. And now, some college, lawschool, and many many girlfriends later, I understand that people’s time is important, and a company that can actually change time (I mean, even god created stuff on a day to day basis – nowhere in the bible is there a passage ‘and god created the plants when they were ready…’) – should at least realize that their cultist fans have been counting down the days till the fire reigns from the heavens to play. Point being, don’t flame someone for being upset that they took off of work for a downed server. (not talking about me… I’m self employed).
Finally – the quick review. Don’t worry – NO SPOILERS HERE.
1) some great stuff
· multiplayer is freaking amazing. Teleporting to other players is brilliant. Although I do miss shouting TP PLEASE…. Capping the game to 4 players makes it a lot smoother as well.
· Sharing your stash among your characters is great as well. It makes so much more sense this way
· The story – from what I’ve seen so far – is great. If you are one those people who find holes in the lore, then all the power to ya. I, for one, would rather smash stuff and then have life, but to each their own.
2) Story, story, and more story
Maybe I’m missing something – but in D2, you should clear out the den, kill blood raven, and save the soilders – but you didn’t have to. You really only needed to complete like, 10 quests in D2. is it me, or are these quests simply forced. I feel like some much time is spent teaching people how to teleport and use their skills, instead of saying – ‘theres the boss. Go kill him.’
Also – how a giant barbarian has trouble unlocking so many gates and door is mind boggling. Theres a fine line between being able to teleport to Diablo from act 1, but it seems like all the story is being force fed. I’m playing the story through – because I want to. It seems like blizzard is saying we have to.
also – is there a way to get rid of all the text on the side of the screen – or at least let my allies actual typing stand out a bit more?
3) Blizzard, apparently, knows best – stat & skill points
I’ve seen arguments on both sides of the stat & skill points debate. Simply put, the system blizzard has in place is broken – but easily fixed.
· Being able to play around and test skills out is great. But there are no consequences to anything we do anymore.
· Stat points – if I want a DH with a zillion points in strength, why cant I make one? Is it moronic? Yes. Is it my choice? Well – not any more.
· DII – number of classes – 7 – number of builds? Well, lots. I had a meteorb for my MF runs, a javazon when I wanted stuff to shine, an avenger to own in PVP, a jailkeeper, a summoner, an etc, etc, etc. once I started making my meteorb, I couldn’t just change my mind, and turn her into an enchantress. So while you have 7 classes to play – each class was itself a subclass.
· Now, why would I make more than 5 characters (1 character per class). I could simply switch things around if I chose to. It seems like there is no incentive to replay the game with the same class.
The solution is a simple compromise -
1) each level up – you get a few fixed stat points, and a few elective ones
2) each level up, you get skills that unlock just like regular. But every X levels, you get X skill points to put into skills that would increase the skill damage. This isn’t a difficult thing. You would still have everything the same, but if you wanted to make a DH that specialized in impale, blizzard could make it that ‘impale level 2 increases damage done to 300% weapon damage. It seems like most skills could have a quick tweak to make this work.
If you want to insult my post – then please do. I really care about your opinion.

NA servers - add me if ya want - ysoserious#1178. - i run a clan if anyone wants an invite. no requirements to join - as long as your nice and friendly your more than welcome
cool my first reply. thanks for your constructive feedback.
1) maybe its my inexperience in the game, but i meant that in D2 - you can skip bloodraven. here, it seems you cant skip quests.
2) theres no consequence - you missed my point. i'm saying that i can always change my mind when i create a build - which i think is a bad thing. you want to have some reason to stick with a build, other than increased MF percentage.
3) stat points - my DH keeps getting killed. i want to put everything into vitaliity. why cant i? irrrespective of whether its negligible or not end game, why cant it be my choice.
4) people are going to use the skills they like - but you might like skills after pouring a bunch of points into them. those zombie dogs are terrible IMHO. why not be able to put some extra points into them to get them more health or whatever. i'm not saying anyone is stopping me from recreating a character, my point was, i dont know if i'm excited to.
when i used to play D2 - i'd see someone with a wicked build il wanted to try - so i'd create a character from scratch and build it up. now - i can just change around my preexisting character with no harm done

So far i havent found anything i could criticize (except hydra)
I really wasnt a fan of forced online, but i see it works (and makes multiplayer SSOOOOO good)
the skill system so far - cannot fault it, enabling elective mode prevented me from wiping a few times as i was then able to balance my build. It feels right, and every level is fun - ooohhh a new skill - how does it work?
while playing, I totally feel like a Nephalem....
oh, and my wizzard is stacking vitality as well as int. dunno why id want to stack str, but if i wanted i could.... dont see ur gripe
i seriously see every fault you have with the game and replie with, ok you make a game impliment those systems and try to make balanceing work..... cus its not possible to balance a free stat point system without have a single "hey its this way or you suck" spec and tho you counter with "well what if i want to build all strength demon hunter" well then you can do it and in normal mode it will proly work hell maybe even nightmare if you like lvl to 60 but seriously no one ever does that and keeps the charicter they do it for a fling a little fun,,
well in d3 you can put on all strength gear and do it the same, and it wont RUIN the charicter.
seriously D3 is better, bigger, more badass, and is more fun than D2 ever was or will be for me at least and most other people, if you cant see that because of 1 or 2 things that arent how you in your opinion like them, then hell go play d2.

also this, it just seems like you like to waste time createing new toons. ok thats fine but in diablo three there is an endgame there really wasnt in diablo 2 so they made it so you had to role multiple times, my opinion that was bad,
here is an example.
a friend of mine i got into d2 but he had school and a full time job and we couldnt play together very often and he mostly solod as a pally, after 2 years he was like lvl 80 or something and we wanted to get him ready to try ubers, but i didnt realize he had completely fucked up everything about his build and couldnt do it at all, there was no way he was going to make another toon for that, now in the same situation in d3 worst case would be him farming up gear, not starting the hell over,
- once I started making my meteorb, I couldn’t just change my mind, and turn her into an enchantress.
- Now, why would I make more than 5 characters (1 character per class). I could simply switch things around if I chose to. It seems like there is no incentive to replay the game with the same class.
Again, then don't change the build. Start over from lvl 1 just like in D2. No one is stopping you.
I think he needs the"OMFG Screwd up my build start over punishment"<- This is stupid

The chat does leave much to be desired (ingame chat window that is, not the chat cahnnel stuff. I'm not so fussed about that)
here is my little list so far:
-issues with quickreply to people who last whistered you. Sometimes your reply doesn't send and the game says "this player is offline" when they aren't
-linking items: you can only link one at a time, and you can't link something from chat, or something at a vandor, only what you have. Many times a friend has shown me a nice drop he got and can't use, and I can't link it to another friend who may find it useful.
-linking achievements: simply doesn't exist. It'd be nice to have it to show things to friends who didn't happen to be online when you got it and instead of having to say "hey, check my profile achievements under tab X and subtab Y"
-salvaging: why dear god does this have to flood the chat window, it should be in a seperate tab or not at all!
i seriously see every fault you have with the game and replie with, ok you make a game impliment those systems and try to make balanceing work..... cus its not possible to balance a free stat point system without have a single "hey its this way or you suck" spec and tho you counter with "well what if i want to build all strength demon hunter" well then you can do it and in normal mode it will proly work hell maybe even nightmare if you like lvl to 60 but seriously no one ever does that and keeps the charicter they do it for a fling a little fun,,
