Legendaries should Bind to your Account on equip....
If they dont then AH will be over ran with them in a year.........
Diablo 2 did not have an easily accessible auction house, this is a new problem.
Khaleesi, mother of dragons, you must be mad. Do not say such things in these strange lands. The merchants in Westeros make much money from the Legendary trade.
I haven't seen anyone bring this up, but... people keep saying that it was duping that ruined D2, not drops with no sinks. Fair enough, but D3 isn't D2. Mainly, there are no ladder resets. Sure, the low quality legendaries will probably be crafted into mats, but the best ones will probably just build up and build up and build up. It doesn't matter if they have a low drop, because the good legendaries are worth more if they aren't used with an item sink (sold for more mats, traded for a different item, or used).
Also, I'm going to guess that it's a little easier to find items, at least from a game mechanics standpoint, because you aren't sharing drops. If the Beta is anything to go buy, the SK (yes, I know bosses don't have the best drop %, but I believe they drop more items) drops 4-5 items every run, per person. Whereas back in D2, Baal would drop maybe 5-6 items, for the entire group of 8. Namely, you're not fighting for items any more. Maybe Blizz balanced the drops for that, I don't know.
TL;DR: I see ways more items will come into the economy, and less ways the very best will leave the economy. Therefore, I am a little concerned. I'll wait till the game comes out to say firmly one way or the other.

You are right to be concerned, but I daresay it is unwarranted.
Like I said above, if no one wants the affixes on a legendary, it won't matter if it is a legendary or not. It will become salvage material.
No way do I want things soulbound, or ANYthing like WoW.
However, I do hope there won't be ladder resets, as I dislike having to leave behind everything I've worked for over and over to play where the current action is. Ya know? ::shrug:: Wouldn't ruin it for me, just not something I desire.

Loot is not guaranteed by tables in Diablo cntrary to wow. If you play wow enough and clean the raid regularly you will get BiS gear with a good chance and at worst you will lack 1 or 2 pieces.
It would not work in a game like Diablo where loot is never guaranteed.

There wont be ladder reset. Theres not even ladders.

You would rather have a ladder reset and have everything you worked for go bye bye, than to have a sustainable economic system? What's shocking is most people on this thread would agree with you about avoiding everything WOW, even if a WOW game mechanic serves a healthy function. I hate to break it to you, but hitting "reset" on a ladder means there is a problem with the in game economy. Ladder resets are a cheap and cheesy solution which can be avoided by creating a sustainable economy, which requires rare item sinks, minimizing cheating & bot harvesting.
Whether or not there is account bind on equip items or not, there will be a lot of good loot at the auction house (shhh, there is an auction house in WOW). Did you know there were bots in BETA that were able to beat the Skeleton King? Software mods that allowed you to see the entire map of dungeons, with red dots indicating where the elites are, and the stair cases lit up so you didn't even have to search for them, software which allows you to log out without waiting 10 seconds (handy to avoid death). Trust me, there will be plenty of good loot to go around. The rate of good loot is going to rise a lot faster than you expect and besides breaking down items, there is nothing that will make the good loot leave circulation. The question is will the good loot become saturated to the point that it requires a ladder reset? If you could avoid ladder resets, why wouldn't you?
I'd like to take this time to pat myself on the back, for being right.
Have you taken a look at how much legendary equipment is available in the auction house on DAY 2?
I'm only level 20, and there are about 7 pages of EACH legendary equipment available. It's going to get worse when you get to level 60, because there will be more level 60 farmers than level 20 farmers (you don't stay at level 20 for very long). You just found a legendary item? In no time, there will be 50 pages of that same item for sale and very few of them will leave circulation.
If legendary items become common, why bother having item rarity?
I haven't read the entire thread, so apologies if this has already been discussed.
I think the point of legendaries in D3 is somewhat different than uniques in D2. In D2, uniques and/or runewords were pretty much always the best gear available. In D3, based on some comments Blizzard employees have made regarding item balance, it looks like they may form more of a base-line of what is good at that level and particularly good rares may actually be best in slot for most or all gear slots. If that's the case, it hardly matters if there are 10 pages of the best level 60 legendary item since it's not the best you can get anyway.

You don't know what you are talking about.
D2 had JSP. You think it is different from an auction house, how exactly? Currency type? Riiight...

I'd like to avoid account binding too. But how many pages of the same item for sale would you say is too much?
