on this topic btw, gearscore will mean nothing, like d2, you may not have the highest quality items, but you'll be using them because it will help the build you are trying to implement!
Exactly. Unlike Warcraft's cookie-cutter builds, where there are mandatory specs for different aspects of the game, D3 will have countless build combinations. With a much more complex skill system in place, I believe that gear will be much more varied throughout players, due to everyone using the gear they use to complement their style of play.
BTW Jay said that the newest gear you get that is considered better doesnt mean its better for your character. This tracking system makes no sense!! on top of that being number 1 ranked for gear in D3 is like being ranked 1 in Pro Darts. Only few people care and those that do compete really dont amount to anything!! (BTW inb4 who are you to talk... I am a Chemist)
lol, I really don't understand why people are getting upset about this at all. This is something that can have absolutely NO IMPACT on their play if they don't want it to. But for those that ARE interested, and want to keep updated, and maybe help make the idea work, this is totally awesome. No one players progress or experience is in any way dependent on anyone else's, so just use it if you want to, don't if you don't and have a Great time either way.
Hmm, i wonder if the achievements will have time stamps HH:MM:SS behind the DD/MM/YY, if this is the case it will be very ineresting, once the proper APIs launches to be able to see a top 100 list of all achievements. and how long after launch they where obtained.
if there is no HH:MM:SS stamp achivement listings will be very booring and inacurate.

Im mostly interested in achievements and how many % of the player that have gotten a given achievement.
Race to lvl 60 will only be fun the first week, then it will get old, cos no one can have any god permanent timestamp on when people hit 60, so it will be the first person that post it and getting it spread on the net that wins
Also if inferno is as hard as blizzard wannts it to it could be pretty fun to se how long it took to beat every section of the inferno, (mini bosses and main bosses will probably have achivements associated with em)

Competitive gaming appeals to people. Look how many 'speed runs' of classic Nintendo games exist on YouTube. If a group of players wants to be competitive about Diablo 3 let them, you're not being forced to participate or even acknowledge their existence.
I personally welcome it because it helps build the community around a game I hope to play for years.
This will be interesting. I personally don't care, nor am I rushing through the game, but it will be nice to see how fast and how many people will get to clear inferno.
Not to be a detractor but this is a brand new website run by no group that I know.
Does anyone else have issues giving them your battletag? I mean it literally links to your account and even with authenticater I'm not trusting some new site with unknown security with that info.

So you're not going to be playing multiplayer at all then?
I dont get why people don't think world first matter? Inferno is going to be hard, like kick you in the fucking balls hard. So yea i think it'd be pretty cool to be the first person EVER to beat it. If you don't give a care then fine, but why do you care if other people care?
Because it doesn't matter, because it isn't a competition, because there is no way to prove it was you, because the game doesn't include any mechanism of recording that you were first. Anybody could just fake it after the fact with very little effort.

I'm sure Inferno has an achievement, and achievements have unlock dates. It is tracked in the game, just not tracked globally across the player base. Honestly your world would be no different if you never saw this thread.

Exactly, so go ahead and fake your world first inferno. I'll be waiting along with nmacholl to see your world first inferno clear and in case you don't know, it is a competition. There are teams out there trying to get world first inferno, thats called competing which makes it a what, oh a competition. Anyone can make anything a competiton.
You're all welcome guys
This is like, my first topic here, but I follow DiabloFans since ever, so it's nice to see some feedback.
Well, some people are really upset about this, but as a former WoW player i really enjoyed tracking this kind of information and i did it because i wanted to.
If someone doesn't want to see world firsts or who's leading this kind of "race", just don't search for it. With or without diabloprogress, i'm pretty sure we'll hear about who's the world first 60, world first inferno, world first inferno HC. Youtube is filled with players that are working on it (well, the way they can). Livestreams around the world will track that too.
Well, if the world first/second/third or world best geared players are the best players, i really don't know and so far, no one does. In WoW, they use to be.

Pretty sure world firsts won't be buying their gear, since they will be the first to clear that content.
nothing new or worth being bothered about :Thumbs Up:

No idea how they will manage the gear score.

THIS GAME ISN'T ABOUT WHO IS THE BEST AND THERE IS NO QUALITATIVE WAY OF TRACKING THAT
You're basically rating who the best is based on:
1.) luck
2.) longest time invested (nothing to be proud of, if you have no life outside of your gaming)
3.) most money invested on RMAH
Which is completely pointless and superficial because eventually a kagillion people will reach the same exact status.
So you're not going to be playing multiplayer at all then?
