I just got an e-mail from WoWProgress, telling me that an analog DiabloProgress will be up on release date. I found it pretty cool and just wanted to share this. For those who don't know, WoWProgress use to track best "ranked" players and guilds, by progression and gear. It looks like it'll work the same with Diablo 3. More info at http://www.diabloprogress.com/
Here the e-mail I got from them:
"Hi Aldricks!
If you are going to play Diablo 3, then you will be interested to see our new website DiabloProgress.com that will be fully launched shortly after Diablo 3 release.
DiabloProgress.com will include:
- progression ranking
- leveling ranking
- gear rankings
and many other features!
Based on information from developer interviews, Inferno mode is going to be really hard and there will be no official ladder. DiabloProgress.com probably will be your primary source about all the progression data and statistics for Diablo3.
wow thanks for this, was always on wowprogress when i played wow, this will be enjoyable to watch with launch, see how quick people can clear the content

"If you don't have a TV, then what is all your furniture pointed at?"
1. BOOOO to GearScore in Diablo.
2. How exactly are they going to figure out what gear you have equipped when there's no armory or public data query to get that information?
3. How are they going to rank players with the exact same item, but with different affix combinations and stat ranges?
This is retarded. WoW players trying to turn Diablo in to WoW.
Because WoW is the only online game to ever track progress.
And it need's to stay that way. It bugs me that people actually care about world firsts in Diablo 3. The world is too small (4 players) for people to say "OMGGRATZ" to people that get there first. Only the die-hard-nerd-fans of the streamers will care.
Honestly, their 15 mins of fame won't even last 15 mins. More like 5 mins and everyone watching will be like "Welp... my master has beaten the game. Time for me to try... if he allows me...".

I think you missed the sarcasm. Hell, if anything WoW players COPIED diablo 2 - NOT the other way around.

Especially considering that the concept doesn't exist in the game. There's no way to prove achieving such a feat.
what's with all the hate? not curious at all to see how quick someone can beat inferno? and who ever cared about gearscore in wow anyway, most useless representation of a player. no need to rag on it crikey...

While I understand the usefulness of a website like this and the potential it could have in helping others improve their characters or learn what they should be hunting for in the world of Sanctuary, I think it's pretty useless. Innovative technologies are only innovative when it solves a problem or fills a void that "needs" to be filled.
I'll be too busy playing the game to care about it. Don't really care who does what first, especially when so many firsts are results of exploitation anyways.

Sure, I'll log onto here, or mmo-champ and see someone got a world first. Then before I am finished reading the headline to the story, I'll close the internet browser and continue playing.
If you don't care about progress, don't go to the website. If you're curious to see rankings and who did what first, then go to the website. Simple as that. Quit yer bitchin.
The QQ will be fun to watch when two players have the same item with different affixes, and one is 'rated' lower than the other, causing someone to be ahead.
on this topic btw, gearscore will mean nothing, like d2, you may not have the highest quality items, but you'll be using them because it will help the build you are trying to implement!

Diablo doesn't need this stuff.
