What disappoints me is the fact that they just have higher health, and no more abilities. I'd hope for some new moves to dodge or new tactics to fight them with. Hopefully I am wrong or they haven't changed it yet.
Nonetheless, it will still be super challenging and I am so stoked.

Jay stated many times that champions will have new abilities on higher difficulties and also there will be completely new and different champion affixes encountered only on Inferno. I'm not sure about normal monsters and bosses. But my guess is that bosses will get new abilities too. They are just not shown in this little preview of the guide.
I can hardly believe 170k damage from inferno monsters..Getting one-shotted isn't fun OR hard.. it's just stupid.
170k damage makes you really wonder what effect armor sets will have on your health and overall stats.
Remember, Inferno is supposed to be a challenge, not only by juggling monsters, but also by using your attributes cleverly. This is where strength and dexterity comes into play. Due to armor, I doubt the full damage you'd take will be 170k. This raises interesting gameplay choices, focus on str to lower damage, but sustain more hits, or push more into dex, so you can dodge all the damage more often, but risk the chance of being pummeled for more more damage.
I really like it, D3 is really going to force us to think things through. I just hope the difficulty lasts.

I am not ruling what you said out, because I too believe there should and most likely will be new abilities. It's just an observation.
I'm sure, yeah, they may add like a new teleport ability and what not, but seeing something exclusive to his encounter would be awesome. For example, maybe he would throw his weapon and is would boomerang behind you or something. Just little stuff like that.
lol a non act boss has 15 million life? so the "boss of the game" will most likely have like 100m+. *giddy*
although kiting for 15-30 minutes is going to be annoying esp when you accidentally fuck up and insta-die and have to redo it when your near the end. its like playing crash bandacoot/god of war on ultra hard mode all over again.

I think the 170k damage on the Armaddon is referring specifically to the slam attack, which I assume since it's telegraphed Blizzard intends for you to dodge and makes it extremely punitive if you don't. I would wager most telegraphed mechanics like that will come close to one-shotting you in Inferno.

You've seen ONE mini-boss listed, and are making a blanket assumption about every mini-boss / boss in the game.
with a 500 dps weapon + 1500 (any stat) 1.5APS and normals skills its more like 20 000 dps at the start of inferno and much more at the end
It makes me wonder how they fought bosses for many hours then. If 4 players do 5k dps can kill a 15 mil hp monster in 12.5 minutes (roughly), how are they fighting bosses for hours?
Somewhere, some of this information does not seem to match up... unless they are just so focused on sheer survival that the fights are drawn out by mechanics, not necessarily by the number crunching.
And I would assume that, like Hell mode in D2, monsters in Hell and Inferno will have regeneration rates. Also, since the boss "arenas" are on lockdown until the group kills them or wipes, it makes it even more interesting. Of course, the bosses completely reset in the event of a wipe.
Don't you people think that monsters have damage reduction and resistances too?
That bow, along with Hungering Arrow (115% weapon damage), plus Cinder Arrow (35% additional fire damage over 8 seconds), plus the actual legendary set item stats, plus other gear, etc.
I would guess (just guess), that fully decked out we might do somewhere around what 4-5k dps?
15 mil divided by 4 is 3,750,000. 3,750,000 divided by 5,000 is 750 is 12.5 minutes.
Considering the internal testers were fighting things for hours, I think either they had really crap gear (which they had approx 1 tier below the boss), which they didn't, or maybe we won't do 4-5k...
Maybe we will do more? The suspense abounds. (I am admittedly bad at math, just fyi)
Edit: I also recall, in some video, seeing health numbers. There is also a video out that shows some inferno gear stats... unfortunately, I can't find either at the moment. :/
Id say we definitely will be doing more. 6-10k was pretty norm for a lot of classes in D2 and they don't have nearly as many buffs or things associated with damage as D3 does. Id expect most classes to be doing 5-15k a shot with skills.
Looking at stats on gear so far I think you will easily do 20k+ dps in inferno. However, even with 20k dps 15 million HP would take a fair amount of time to bring SK down. Especially since Skeleton king isn't a fight where you can be on him all the time.
Still, it is hard to say.
Remember we had Crushing Blow-type abilities and stuff in Diablo 2. Hopefully we wont see anything as unbalanced as that, but there might be things that increase dmg to a lot more.
i have one fear for that guide, it have numbers different from what we seen (SK), and blizz gona make day 1 patch with some changes, so i think this guide can become outdated even before it ships from store to owners.
ps. but anyway its shiny, and i pre-ordered Limited edition from amazon))
Hm, this whole thing made me wonder. Do we actually know if enemies in Diablo 3 have armor values? As in dmg reduction (Resistances in D2).
I assumed they would have, since it makes sense, and its a Diablo game...
But for all we know, Blizzard could have removed all armor values on enemies, in their eternal quest for simplification.
they must have armor (probably), as they have resistance and its pretty much same thing (except armor DR everything, and resistance are do this by "damage type")
its like playing crash bandacoot/god of war on ultra hard mode all over again.
but yea, you'll be crashed really fucking hard
ya they were really difficult. but i beat them both in 2 days(each). lolol. difficulty does not = way more time to beat. in fact i beat god of war on hard mode faster because i had to use moves a lot quicker and couldnt loligag around and had to constantly counter-attack and kill mobs and bosses ASAP before i died. by the time you get to hard mode you SHOULD be extremely good from playing with the same 5 skills over n over 5000 times and running the game 3 times over. the only reason your killing speed would slow down tremendously (causing you to take weeks-months to beat it) is if your personal learning curve is a lot slower than the games.
so funny how people are so jelly of other people who are good at video games and act all sarcastic and snide, or just use the ever-so-cliche "oh gawd u mUst have no life nerd". its my second main hobby ive had for nearly 10 years, like a lot of people here. obv im gonna be great and so are a good amount of people on this site. id be VERY surprised if there werent a lot of people on here that pass me up in rushing the game even if i manage to stay on track with my timeline. you'll all see when i post my progress thread zooming through the game faster than you could imagine and then 10 people comment with pics of their achievements that are even faster than mine. games these days arent hard and dont take a lot of time, any veteran can tell you that.

Not only that. Brag about beating 'incredibly' hard games, like crash bandicoot
i never said they were hard games. double check my post brah. i said playing them on "ultra hard mode" as in the highest difficulty setting of those games. how are games i beat in 2 days"incredibly hard"? lolol.
