There are crafted items your blacksmith will learn when you train him, and there are other more rare items that can only be learned by finding a recipe drop and giving it to him.
I'm sure there will be a ton of rare or possibly even set piece recipes that you find in hell or inferno. Now Blues have said once you make a rare of a recipe you can NOT make it again, so who knows if you use it once its gone or you just have to get the recipe again.
Edit: when i found the link info was incorrect it is refering to buying a rare off a vendor.

Just to clarify i totally misread or did not understand at that point they were talking about vendors and not the BS crafting. Sorry i mustve been tired when reading and made a mistake but does this mean vendors will sell rares?

Thats only for rare items on the vendors I belive.

Phew! I'm really looking forward to finding some kind of amazing rare crafting recipe for high level armor, then being able to craft it over and over to roll a really good one. So I'm very glad they didn't take this out.
You also see the next recipes you are going to unlock in the next experience boost after each time you pay to upgrade the blacksmith. the name of the recipes are shown in the blacksmith level up tab.

I've recognized that - but what about randomization in general?
Let's say that we have 2 player (Y&Z) which begin to play on release day - will BS(Y) be able to craft the same list of recipes as BS(Z) from start?
Or will it be randomized right from the beginning to diversify the craftable stuff amongst the playerbase?
I'm pretty sure what the blacksmith learns from training is the same for all players in the game. It just makes sense to me. Now each of the items crafted have random attributes so what is crafted is not exactly the same, but the base item is the same.
I have no blue post proof but with each beta reset and with two separate accounts they were always the same each time he was trained.
They should be tradable, nothing is bound in the game. Im sure they will be REALLY rare if they do stay like the way it is, one book to teach BS how to make an entire set.
Do you guys think it's worth it to invest money in the Blacksmith..? I never used him during my beta run. Maybe in the end game I would but I feel like for the amount you pay up isn't worth it when in a few levels you end up finding something better? =/
I wonder how people will go about organizing having someone else craft something they don't have the recipe for. The AH is secure but trading is not (since your crafter won't have the crafted item made to trade until you give them the materials in the most important [late-game] cases).
with the pure randomness of affixes, i doubt you would want to just give mats to someone to craft for you, you would most likely not get something you want in return.
Is it still a random drop, as I think it was in the past?

Can you find the link?
Duping still going on

And trade-able, hopefully!
