Still is the worst decision they've made in my opinion. Now I will never play with other people because I'm a Magic Find whore like that.
I don't understand why you wouldn't play with friends that play efficiently geared characters with some MF on them. If you go from 400% MF to 300%MF but with your friends you are able to kill twice as much, you win in the long run (compared to playing solo).
The only issue with this system is if you play with people that have far less MF than you have while not helping you that much at killing enemies. And in another words they are called "noobs" or completly undergeard. Nobody wants to play with them, it is not only a problem with MF.
First of all, i think that everyone that deams other people "Dumb" or anything else that is negativ because of their oppinion of a computer game (no matter how cult it is) aren't worth anyones intrest.
But ill just say - no one is wrong, its a matter of preference.
It's just too bad that MF scales for group drop efficiency more than the 16% damage drop.
This, this, and more of this....
Edit: May have misread/misquoted this, but this still if I didn't
Anyway, generally more people in a game already means more and better drops regardless of your personal mf.
So you're at 100 and that guy is at 50.. Averaging at 75... You don't think the mf/drop bonus + general expected survivability and kill speed boost is going to make up for the 25% mf you "lost"?
I'm not saying I have hard numbers to prove it, but thats a hard argument to make from where I'm sitting :P.

Actually one way is wrong....and Blizzard realized it and fixed it. Having 1 guy stand around with all MF on and recieving all the benefits while the others recieved nothing in return is a horrible practice. While dividing your hard earned mf gear seems the wrong way, why should the guy with all the hard earned dps gear have to do all the work for you? Its a double sided sword, and your gear isnt magically on a higher scale simply becuase it has a stat you personally prefer.
Having one person benefit from magic find and 3 others suffer is a horrible design system for a co-op game, especially with real money involved. What would stop me from just standing around doing nothing and making free money/items while I studied and watched youtube? nothing. I would get all the benefits and suffer none of the consequences.
While it may not be the most super perfect Walgreen's commercial way of doing it(Ie averaging the magic find), it is the most fair and logical answer to a game that is meant to be played with other people. Now, youre subpar dps is offset by giving the people with good dps a bit of magic find. There subpar magic find is now offset by the fact they have dps to bring to the table.
It is the most fair system, and obviously Blizzard realized this and changed it.
0.7*your MF + 0.3*average of other people in the group. Or something like that.
Or 0.3*your MF + 0.7*average, because you'll be leeching : )
I think averaging is a great change, but then, I like balance... If all my pimped out gear gives me 300 dps (and barring any other factors like skill, activity, etc), your 200 dps build with tons of MF is just going to make stuff die slower... Thereby balancing... Less mobs = less gear, but less mobs with extra gear evens out...
In the end, the MF % is likely not the way people think, so it's even less an issue ; )... +5% doesn't mean you go from a base 20% to 25%; it is likely from 20% to 21% (a 5% increase).
Which means that be joinning that group i actually get LESS out of my MF? did i understand that currectly?
The game combines the MF of all 4 players then divides it equalty to all 4.
player 1: 100 mf
player 2: 200 mf
player 3: 300 mf
player 4: 400 mf
combined they have 1000 MF
The game then divides the 1k MF between the 4 players which gives each person 200 MF.
Some benefit from it, some don't, but those with low MF usually make up for that with other stats which usually mean faster kill speed etc.. so in the end i think it usually works out well.

Being picky here, its 250 not 200 each XD, 1000/4 = 250
The only good thing about avging the MF is that I am going to be able to sell chars that are lvl 60 and have lots of MF to people who just bought the game and have 2 accounts to just sit the char they bought and get half the MF throughout the whole game. Then they can sell that char after they are done with it. Averaging MF makes leeching easier just sit them in town while you kill away.

Ahh are you high? You would have to kill drastically buffed mobs solo.....So yah, thats a terrible plan.
Ohh and thats not leeching either, as you are playing with yourself. Just as the word implies, a leech, is giving someone else the short end of the stick.

One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!

So jaclashflash you are telling me that not a single person will beat diablo 3 by them self?
Also, how is following someone around picking up items that only you can see leeching cause your not giving the other person said "short end of the stick."

If there are TWO people in the game, then its not solo.
Because your kill ratio is pathetic by comparison. You are doing almost none of the work, yet getting nearly all the benefit. Just like a real leech.

So killing all the bosses and all of the minions isn't soloing the game?
Kill ratio sounds like DPS. How does one measure the kill ratio a KPS meter? That sounds like you are trying to make Diablo 3 into WoW were it is all about fastests and highest not the item find and the feeling of accomplishment. Your also not taking skill into the equation.

The game doesn't consider you are playing solo if you have an alt toon decked in MF sitting in town. The mobs in the game are going to be greatly buffed in dmg and in health, and you would be fighting them solo. Thats obviously a retarded plan...but you go ahead and try it and let me know how well that works out in inferno.
Easy. MF is an affix in the game that takes the palce of another affix in the game. Thus by having MF gear, you are essentially intenitonally gimping your characters kill speed to get better loot. This is not hard to understand.....
Skill does not factor into the equation, because on the whole you are nothing special. If you actually believe otherwise, then you are rather deluded. And if you are actually better than average, than you can team up with people of the same caliber and play with them.
Why are people complaining about this so much? Why do people think endgame they will simply load up 90000% magic find and be able to do the same dps as people who arent using magic find?
They think they will outgear everyone else, which is hilarious, because everyone else thinks that too.
They also think that they are just flat out better than everyone else at the game or at least the majority. So, even if they are outgeared by some Chinese farmers or lifeless nerds, which are not real people in their eyes, they are still better.
Yah, I think I got you leechers pegged out just about perfect.

So one extra player in the game makes the game impossible to beat it by yourself. Where is your evidence of that I have seen people with 4 people in a game doing just fine on their own. Also is there an affix that guarantees you will be faster than someone with magic find. If there is one I don't think there will be six of them even if there are then why would you still play if you had the best times with six affixes that makes you a god other than to farm items and sell the.
Another point is that in inferno your lvl 60 so there is no point in having a lvl 60 sit in town if you can use the mf gear he has on. Just go read what I said about selling the char after you are DONE with it aka the lvl needed to use the best gear that you found on your way to inferno or the gear on the char your selling.
Lol skill doesn't matter. Thats evidence enough that you never played D2 cause their were so many leechers in there. Also I was in the top 100 for this ladder untill I stopped playing at lvl 89.

There was a blue post that said if you are with a friend and you go off by yourself, you will die. So, I would say intentially putting a stacked MF character in town and trying to clear things solo is a pretty bad idea, but go ahead and try while two people in balanced gear with the same averaged MF killthings twice as fast as you (if you are even able to kill anything by yourself in a 2 person game in Hell or Inferno)
So Nixon didn't back out of Vietnam?
or
That you ran out of facts? Cause both are true that video is evidence of one of those 2 things.
