@OP you have to realize just how much work goes into something like this. It is not by any means simply 'type some code'. They gave an example awhile back, saying just to integrate D2 into battle.net 2.0 it would take about a year of work. And like others have typed, the pvp is already there, it's more about them changing it to a way that they think will work best, which atm I doubt will even get touched until after release, as they have to make sure everything that will be IN release is working and polished.
I don't think that 2 months is enough time, given the existing issues and considering how long they have taken to produce what they have. It just means that the issues with the UI or Chat channels or Hit Boxes or Customizability will remain past launch and whether they will be fixed with a patch...doubtful.
It just goes to show the current mentality of Blizzard evolve from "When it's done" to "It's good enough after enough cutting..."

My goodness people... it is PVP! It will be there... People are acting like it has been totally cut from the game and is never going to be added back in....

Me- Can haz beta key?
Mod- NO NOOB BAHAHAHAHA! *goes to play beta*
Me- /wrists
i highly doubt they would have given a release date if they werent sure they will make it. considering all the snafus and release date "windows" they have already shot for and missed, they want to get it right. up until now they have not given us a specific date probably just for that reason, they want to be sure they will hit it.
Plus Jay said that patch 15 will be what they ship, so they implement tomorrow, clean up any bugs and final tweaks, ship

Was PVP cut? Yes. Thus they are cutting features from the game in order to speed up the release date, rather than release it when it's done. It doesn't matter if they "can" add it in later. Will they? They said they would add Guild support into D2 and look how well that turned out...
The point is Blizzard has evolved to a point where money is trumping integrity. How far will it go?

They have already worked so hard on PvP and yet EVERYONE over looks that. You don't just scrap a feature of a game if plenty of work was already made. And if they delayed the game due to PvP, they would not hear the last of it and many people would have canceled their preorders and not even bought the game. Plus Blizzard is first and foremost a business. So the fact that you find it surprising that Blizzard is releasing D3 for money over a feature just shocks me. And the game still has integrity as the fact that it is meant to be played as PvE overall. PvP is just there for fun, it is not needed for the release.
