Don't forget to post a response as to why you feel the way you do!
I personally dislike most of the changes they mentioned.
Identifying items - I feel like this will just increase the downtime (while I have to sit around and wait while I cast "identify" on all my new-found magic items).
Dedicated potion key - Limiting the players ability to play how they desire, I feel is never a good thing. Let me choose where I want my potion button.
Mystic removal - If it didn't add anything, oh well (although I find this hard to believe). One less thing I have to worry about in game.
Cauldron/Cube removal - Once again increases down time while we sell and salvage in town. Very much like Diablo 2, and not a huge issue, but it will force you to be pulled out of the action at times.
Town Portal button - Not really anything different from how it worked before, just less involved in the story. May take away from story/character immersion.
No salvage for common loot - So now, most of what drops in the game I will have no use for and as a result, will leave on the ground. I'm kind of against making items almost completely worthless.
Attribute changes - Here lies the largest issue for me. Now each class really only has 2 stats to worry about? This, I feel takes away even more from any customization. The removal of a stat like precision now makes builds that were focused on critical hits (for example) rely entirely on armor bonuses, thus making them almost useless in most cases. Before, every class could equip every item and benefit from it. Now, the items are going to be specific to each class (although all can equip them, they won't benefit from them in the way that another class would) -- what's the point of developing a system where each item looks different on each class, if the item is only useful to one class and not the rest? I feel like they really made a mistake here, and seriously limited customization. Two stats, really!?
I feel they made some mistakes here, and some pretty big ones. This is only based off of my initial reaction, gameplay will prove the true deciding factor.
Please do not let this thread degenerate into a, "OMG all these changes are going do delay the release. IT'S NEVER COMING OUT". Let's just discuss our views on the changes announced. Thanks!

I fail to see how Blizzard can tell us they are polishing yet start implementing totally new things and still have yet to make a decision on the Runes/skills. I find it hard to believe they are polishing anything. I'm in beta and will get to test out the new features but I mean really this is taking a long while a little too long if you ask me. The rune system should stay the way it is, I pick up a rune of crimson/obsidian etc and plug it into a skill and it becomes obsidian rune in teleport, now when I go to switch skills or remove the rune it gets destroyed no matter what rank the rune is. Simple effective and what most people want. The idea of really having to search hard to find a rune of the correct skill type is useless. It will just flood the market with unwanted runes.

Agreed 100%,, Blizzard please dont make Diablo so linear... please... 4 years of development, this kind of system could have been concepted and integrated in a few.... months.... wait... nvm.. (sigh)
No more town portal tombs? nnaaww i loved filing my tomb with scrolls... D:

[Legendary Bow of Epic Awesomeness that Kills Things]
What leads you to believe it will be constant trips? Like I said before, in the current set up, you basically spend no time at all in town. I can play an entire evening without having to go to town. Is it really so bad if the new system makes you go to town every 30-45 mins for a couple of minutes? I guess its a very subjective question, but personally, I like a little break from combat. Makes it more exciting to jump back in.
I had to teleport to sell every 5-10 mins in D2, which was annoying and the worst aspect of the game I loved (and I'm speaking about magic items, not whites). Now due to bigger bags we would have to teleport every 20 mins, why on Earth would I want to do this forced and tedious task? I'm not a masochist. You say you like "a little break from combat", while I prefer to bash monsters 24/7, and if i want any interaction - thats what friends are for, town NPCs dont really fill that role
If I want a break, I prefer it to be on my terms, not because I have to because of bags. Gold will be an important part of the experience, and it will be a shame to just leave items, and not only whites but Magic items too.
Its even worse playing in groups. Does anyone want random member going to town every 10 mins (people collect items in different style + random drop rate) and force you to do a random break, or going with 2-3 against mobs groups scaled for 4? Its annoying, no other word for it. Blizzard literally made D3 less fun than it could have been.
All of these shenanigans have raised everyone's expectations of this game sky high. Not that +10 years of development hasn't already inflated our expectations. I think the game is going to be scrutinized very harshly when it gets reviewed because of the baloney blizzard has been feeding us for the past two months. If this isn't the best game I've ever played blizzard will have lost my respect, +10 years of development should amount to a pretty awesome game.
I don't think it even took 10 years to develop the mars probes (rovers spirit and opportunity) and that a real engineering wonder.
My thought of the development update?
The cauldron and cube were IMO the funnest addition to diablo and without crafting is going to too much of a pain in the ass... Not to mention making white items completely useless means they shouldn't even be included in the game. I hope I'm wrong about crafting but I'm speculating it won't even be worth my time to craft, I may as well just sell all of my materials to suckers who want to gamble them away.
I thought the attack, defense, precision and vitality were good attribute choices and that they could be used to make the classes function as they are supposed too. I don't mind the changed seeing as they favor the (my) monk nicely. it's not a big issue since the attribute points are distributed automatically to define the classes.
Every other change sounds like it will be a good feature BUT notice how they revealed the town portal, and dedicated potion slot first to soften us up before revealing the more controversial changes.
I don't know Jay and his team would bring this unnecessary pressure onto themselves, the game will be received more or less the same no matter what changes they make. A lot of people are going to love the game and some are not but now everyone is going to be expecting so much because of how hard they are claiming to be working. If in fact the game s being delayed for other reasons, with financial goals possibly, and gamers notice that there isn't as much new content as they expected from all of these delays they will criticize blizzard. Blizz has to careful now because they are pressed for time but if they rush things and don't deliver on our expectations people there will be mass disappointment and rage. Anyone else feel like blizz might be setting D3 up to fail by raising our expectations to unreasonable levels?

This is another good point. I hope they are aware of this. Will they prove that the game is "perfect" as Jay has said the game needs to be?
As per the stat changes, I foresee this happening:
You're playing your monk and just entered act 2. Your staff is old, really old. You badly need a new one. First boss in act 2 dies and drops a new staff. You're all, "Alright! Can't wait to identify this thing!!". You are filled with anticipation while you cast identify on the new staff, only to be let down when the staff reveals with a +10 strength bonus (due to random generation - which I am assuming D3 uses). "FUUUUUUUUU!!!" *sigh*

Sorry I dont use these forums much and havent been following diablo 3 lately but I just read Jay Wilsons changes to the game
I just want to know, why on earth have they removed a whole Profession/Crafting NPC from the game entirely? The Mystic..? What will enchant our weapons now?
I really dont understand that, are they going to give us something else instead? It makes no sense that they would remove something so big that you can level up and customize in the game

Yep. I was looking forward to putting gold find enchants on all my stuff.... Now what. Less options. Bored.

I'm assuming you mean a Daibo, not a staff, since a staff is usually considered a caster weapon.
Daibos and Fist Weapons are monk-only, so there is no reason to have the possibility of Str or Int affixes on those items.

Only reason I can think of is that they were running out of ideas for stuff to put in future expansion(s). Enchants in the first exp, charms in the second, in addition to a new class and some content in each, ofc.

Wow so they remove stuff so they can re-add stuff later.. lol.. But this still doesnt make sense, how are we going to enchant items? Wasnt enchanting even in diablo 2? They cant just remove enchanting all together

Nope, no enchants in D1/D2. They had runes in D2, but they fit into sockets like gems, not into skills like D3. They also had jewels, but they went into sockets as well.

only thing that gets me is they changed something because THEY didn't like it and the 1% of the fanbase (beta testers) where 50/50 on it. seems to me they didn't even give us the fans a chance to know if we like it or not. Thats why i say most of these changes should have been saved for an xpac
Well hopefully enchants will be back in an xpac? I mean enchants make your weapons so cool. Who wouldnt like their axes to be enchanted with electricity ?

Well there's still elemental dmg as an affix so it'll still look cool. There's cool glowing weapons in beta already.
to those wondering about the change in "always in action" and also "waiting on another player in co-op" like I was
Official Blizzard Quote:
After a lot of playing at high levels we realized returning to town and breaking up the action is actually good. There are some more designery reasons that reinforce all of this, but the bottom line is that the action is very important, and being actively engaged in the action. Being able to be out and killing for hours and hours straight was negating the fun elements. Just like a story arc has highs and lows, a game needs to promote those ups and downs through its mechanics.
As far as harming co-op, there's really no difference now. Before you'd say "WAIT UP" and everyone would have to stop while you examined each item and decided to sell, salvage, or keep it. In the best case scenario everyone would agree to stop and do this at the same time. It's no different than everyone agreeing to head back to town, and in fact it provides a more prominent, not to mention safe, pause point where everyone can take care of a few quick tasks, and then head back out.Say your friend's inventory is full, but yours isn't, well you both decide to TP and while he's going through his bag you have time to craft a few things, or alt+tab free of fear to read reddit or something. Whatever. It's not different to the co-op game because you had to stop before, and the benefits to being in town now are actually pretty substantial.
