you were fine until here. wrong, just like i said. spell damage scales/increases/improves with both attack AND weapon base damage.
Actually you're wrong. Spell damage is based PURELY off of weapon damage. Attack happens to increase weapon damage, THUS also increasing spell damage since it's based ON weapon damage.

lol..... you always seem to argue for no reason at all. your post was pointless and were back where we started.
You shouldn't talk to yourself like this, it's a sign of insanity.
you never come back with anything good arcane, you should really stop replying to me. or in general if your only going to flame as usual.
spell damage is NOT based "purely" on weapon dmg. we went over this kid, its based on BOTH attack attribute AND wpn damage, this is proven by looking at your overall Damage in the beta. each point of attack increases spell dmg (aka OVERALL damge, NOT just "wpn dmg")? OMFG CRAZY! its really insane and funny how you and super are so ignorant to facts like that. the blue post is worded poorly, beta proves this.
EDIT: let me break it down for you in organized simplier terms so you can grasp it:
there are 3 sepparate entities for flat damage in diablo for casters (not counting crit chances):
1. weapon damage number (the plain 140-170 dmg listed for the weapons damage)
2. the amount of attack attribute you have from all of your gear
3. overall damage(AKA spell damage, the damage your spell does when you cast it) which is calculated from 1 and 2
what i believe you and superfula are implying is that "spell damage" and "overall damage" are two sepparate things, they are not. thats where the confusion started.

What? As usual you state a point with only your personal beliefs. Lets look at the description of Magic Missile.
"Launch a missile of magic energy, causing 110% weapon damage as Arcane."
Weapon damage. WEAPON DAMAGE.
Now. Attack reads as "Attack attribute increases damage of all attacks and skills by x%" I believe that this is a remnant from when spells were NOT based off of weapon damage and needed attack to be increased in damage. Otherwise attack would both increase your weapon damage AND skill damage meaning that it's being counted TWICE which just makes no sense whatsoever.
I don't know how you can even bring up something like "It's in the beta so I'm right!" I'm in the Beta, I know what attack does. I have gloves on my wizard that give +5 attack. Know what happens when I take them off? My basic attack DPS goes down!!! OMG!!!! Wow, that means my spells deal less damage since my base attack, the stat skills scale from, went down!
Now, you're claiming that spells scale off of both base damage AND attack, but base damage ALSO scales off of Attack. Therefore using YOUR logic, attack is counted TWICE for skills. So my +5 gloves should then increase my damage by 10% instead of 5%. Let's try it out. Huh. Nope, doesn't look like it counts Attack twice. What a surprise.

What is this? You just agreed with me! 2 increase 1 resulting in 3. But 1 (aka 3) is ALL that spells look at.

i edited my post and broke it down for your tiny brain above^
thats exactly my point, less attack = less DPS. DUH thats what i said genius. and theres nothing in the logic about it "counting twice". your just pulling shit out of your ass as usual. how does your base damage scale off of attack and is still base damage? its BASE damage meaning NOTHING is increasing it, wow... play video games much? know the lingo? clearly you have no idea what "base damage" means. lmao

Other than being blatantly offensive and immature, the fact that you think base damage can't scale speaks for itself. What is there to scale if you can't increase the base? lol.

i guess i worded it poorly. once base damage is increased by something. sir... it is no longer base damage. base meaning the bottom of, as in nothing else below it, the very lowest point of your damage, no addatives. so saying base damage changes with anything and is still base damage is an oxymoron. base damage scales with attack and wpn damage, like ive been trying to get acrossed to you, causing it to change from "base" to "overall" damage. simple enough for you bud?

From all of this I'm not surprised you're so confused and don't understand how all of this works. I'll try to state this as simply and directly as I possibly can and leave it at that.
There's a single stat on the character page called "Basic Attack (Number) Damage Per Second".
This is the one, sole number, that spells calculate their damage from (Since they made abilities depend on weapon speed).
This number is dependent on your weapon, weapon speed, and your attack stat.
Weapons have a base DPS. Attack increases this to the "Basic Attack DPS" (The amount of damage you'd do per second over a sustained time simply swinging away with your weapon.)
Spells calculate their damage off of this "Basic Attack DPS" and that alone to calculate their damage.

thank you for proving my point. again. rofl.
that one "sole" number is made up of the attack yes? and then it goes into spell damage yes? just like you said. therefor attack IS in the equation for increasing spell damage. therefor it DOES scale with attack. just because attack goes into another number before going into spell damage doesnt nulify the fact that it helps it scale. well done sir. /clap
italofoca simplified it the best. go read his comment. lol

i guess i should of just put that and stopped arguing <_< lmao
