1) What do you look for when looking for a gaming(RPG/RTS) mouse, including stats. I use a claw grip and have come accustomed to having a small mouse with moderately high sensitivity. Which mouse will give the best bang for the buck. Are razer mouses just overpriced over hyped low battery life LEDs?
2) Is there a way to play with mouse settings in windows regardless of most mouse drivers or something?
3) What mouse do you use? What mouse would you like to use :)?
4)This one is harder to explain and ask about.. It's concerning maintaining good posture, strong stability, and having space for a notebook gamer.
-When you play a game at the highest level you can, you need a returning setup. You need a stable surface, area to maneuver the mouse, and having good posture helps for multiple reasons.
>Right now, I've got my laptop on a plank of wood, resting on the seat of a chair. I sit on a couch while playing. The plank of wood is shaped like a C, and I have it wrap around the back
of the chair so that the wood doesn't move from pressure and it's
stable, and because if I were to 180 the plank (which gives me a decent
deal more mouse /wrist space) a simple bump from me or a bystander. The chair is at a position compared to the couch so that if I were to sit on the carpet I'd be awkwardly reaching up slightly to the keyboard/mouse also making my arms uncomfortable on the edged of the plank and extending my arms a little more than I would like. However worse than that (but better) is sitting on the couch where I sink into the seat and lean over to play/see well. The screen doesn't handle reflections too well and I'm also sliiiightly near sighted.
Also something worth noting is I don't add much extra latency here because we ran a e-cable through the walls and have an extension nearby, but there's not enough room to build/buy a desk for in good range. Also if I try resting the laptop board on my lap, it actually isn't all that stable and I'm actually looking like a foot down to just the top of the monitor... and it feels uncomfortably close (the keyboard/mouse). But I can still appreciate my plank because it prevents a lot of heating problems and I can place my laptop safely on pretty much any surface.
-So the question is, has anyone else struggled with this or have any ideas that might help? I like my plank but I have played on desktop setups and notice my posture is actually infinity better.
A year ago I bought the best mouse I've ever had, the http://www.logitech....s/6536?debug=0. It's wireless, has long battery life, and seems to be quite accurate (at least more accurate+base sensitive than the crap I had in the past with which I couldn't even turn properly right with in wow). I'm considering buying a new mouse right now and I'm not really sure which way to go. What do I want in a mouse, specifically/exactly? I was looking at razer mouses but it's hard for me to believe they wouldn't come with their own sets of pros and cons/challenges, on top of being way over priced. Like I said my current mouse works better than those I've had in the past, but it has been getting beaten up. Maybe http://www.logitech....es/5092?debug=0 ?? Has anyone used a mamba 4g or any of the other hyped up stuff.

Lmfao just came across this, it looks awesome, but extremely over priced and people are so obsessed with tweaking their little transformer that it it's hard to make out what it's actual performance is in the reviews. It sounds like it isn't as good as what else is out there for actual performance, but common, that's too awesome. The previous version costs literally half as much. Way too expensive for me, especially after finally finding reviews saying the G9x is specifically superior in that regard.
To the OP: After all these years I figured that the chair is one of the most important things to look at (I've been sitting on a garden chair for nearly 4 years now and it's not pleasant after a long gaming session). But since you don't even have a desk, a chair does not really concern you
Yeah man I've sat on my fair share of uncomfortable surfaces, namely I used to sit on a wooden chair for hours after sitting on whatever school chairs are made from and then would foolishly do situps on a hardwood floor, only took a two week sore tailbone to learn that lesson for life. My brother has like a $100 chair that you could fall asleep in and naturally somehow promotes good posture without making you feel uncomfortable in addition to a pullout keyboard/mouse desktop setup with a monitor which doesn't reflect *nearly* as much light and is much more bright and large than my lil ol laptop

i run with a R.A.T. 7 and i love it, i couldn't ask for a better mouse and i don't see myself upgrading any time soon (except maybe i'll get the white one instead)
That's good to hear dude! It looks sweet! lol. I wish I could get my hands on it and a few others though before making my decision. I've got a birthday coming up, a guy can dream.
Right now I'm trying to decide between a G9x logitech (which is just an epic gaming focused mouse upgrade to my current mouse I've used for a year) and the r.a.t.7. I read a few reviews that mentioned the rat 7 may bobble a bit with the thumb out to the side or something though 9 supposedly didn't? But as people have suggested I'm pretty much sold on a wired mouse by now.
I've been using the logitech MX510 for 6 years now. I've looked into different models, but honestly this one fits everything that I need. It doesn't have an overabundance of buttons, but I never use the mouse buttons in gaming anyway (except for mouse click for grenade in fps). It's perfect imo
Never ever get a Microsoft mouse! I had one and the left mouse button snapped during the middle of a cs war. Logitech is by far the best, like already stated.
seriously, razor naga. 17 button mouse. I can fit all of D3 on it, and have been using it non stop for about 1.5 years, not even any marks on it from wear.

i tried Razor mice before and they rarely ever last long, if they even work on arrival.. maybe i just been unlucky.. but either way the naga has way to many buttons for me.. it makes my thumb hurt trying to press all those buttons on the side

You must have gotten unlucky, I've raided with this same mouse on WoW since launch of wotlk, And I only used my left hand for movement =P And there is seriously zero wear and tear on this guy

IT'S NOT FAIR!
I have a cyborg(got it at the beginning of the year, and I don't even modify the weight/size, as It's pretty perfect out of the box). Yea the price is alittle high, atleast until you try it, then you'll see It's well worth it(get it at best buy, and pay alittle extra for a 2year warranty). Also it only cost 100 at best buy(not the 150 your link shows).
It has multiple settings you can adjust(and modes that you can set to have different setting, which you can switch between on the fly if you want), It's amazing(you can even set aiming and reg movement to have different DPI in a single mode.
There's only one flaw, but It's easy to prevent: The Cyborg uses a new laser technology, which inshort allows it to be so responsive/sensitive, and well it doesn't like dust, dirt, lint exc(and wont work properly on such surfaces).
However there's a few simple steps you can take, and there wont be a problem. First get rid of your mouse pad(omg, I can't believe I ever used mouse pads after using a gaming surface/pad, you'll never look back), buy a gaming pad(the same company that makes the cyborg, also made a godly alluminum gaming pad, that is easy to wash, and keep clean). Then on the rare occassion you run into a issue(lol because you haven't been keeping it clean), a quik blow on the eye will fix it in a hurry.
but like I said, It's only one issue, and very easy to prevent.
PS. The pictures don't do it justice, It's super confortable, you have to see it in person(looks very diff from the picture). Also back on the price, in this case you pay for quality, this is no cheap mouse , It's made with steel parts(and the little bit of plastic used, is a very high quality form of plastic as well) for crying out loud, which the base(among a lot of the internal parts) is steel as well, allowing for smoother movement.
Just wanted to note that the rat 7 is like $75 on amazon right now and the rat 9 is like 150 anywhere I look, the same price of another mouse I'm looking at...:
I just ordered this mouse:
Yeah man this mouse looks sweet, I'm sure I'll just hear good things but let me know how it works for you.

While that maybe considered a game pad, but if all X gaming pad is, is an oversized mouse pad(can't tell, since there are no details), you could do much better then that.
Mouse pads are natorious for being lint collectors, so they are annoying to clean, and dust is vertually impossible to see/clean off a standard mouse pad(meaning a reg mouse pad will never be trully clean). Nevermind the fact mouse pads get bent out of shape pretty easy, and such. Also mouse pads in general have a pretty rough surface, which is so not needed in this day, and age, which mind you a rough surface autoficially slows down mouse movement(no one uses balled mice anymore, and lazer technology moved pass the need for a rough surface a long time ago).
Cool for anyone looking for a good gaming mouse then, because 75 is well worth it. I'm happy with the RAT 7 personally, but what's the word on the RAT 9?
PS. Ill the RAT 9 is a wireless mouse(wireless mice are evil, and the worst concept ever) or are there two different models for the RAT 9?
Edit: Nevermind, looking at the specs it seems to more or less just be a wireless version of the RAT 7(pretty damn funny they feel the need to charge extra for a wireless mouse, which if anything should be the other way around).
I wouldn't be *so fast* to count wireless mice out, but then again I am using a normal mouse and not a gaming mouse in my logitech anywhere darkfield MX. It doesn't have any cool settings or customization but I can literally run it across anything and get a good/great response. The floor, a plank of deteriorating wood, my arm a chair a couch, a flat portion of a diet soda can I just crushed..
I've never had any issues with this mouse and it is wireless. It doesn't skip when I lift it or set it down (though I rarely ever need to) But then again it's not a gaming mouse. It was created specifically for this reason to work everywhere and to have extremely long battery life. It has an average rating of 4.9 (of 5) at Best Buy which is amazingly high, but I bought it for $35 bucks once upon a time at a nearby walmart which makes me want to lean towards the g9x.
Isn't there a like g700 out? It's probably roughly the same mouse with some higher stats though, doesn't solve your problem. I wouldn't give up on logitech cause you bought a palm grip mouse while having more of a claw grip playstyle! You need a smaller mouse probably.

Yea, logitech is a good company, no need to pass on them because you bought a oversize mouse style(really the palm grip seems really big on that mouse), you just need to get a more sleaker designed mouse.

Razer mice are indeed overpriced, LEDfed, light as a nylon bag pieces of sh*t. Just my personal opinion. :]
