I'm very disappointed by the leaked stuff so far. Graphics settings seem very low because you can see every pixel and a lot of things seem quite unfinished...the selection screen has nothing on the D2 screen (which is an 11 years old game!!!!). At the last picture the barbarian isn't even holding the damn shield in his hand, it's just stuck to his arm... I really hope this is just really old footage and stuff because I am not impressed at all.
The contours around the barbarian are pixelated to hell. It's like he has jagged skin. It truly looks bad.
In fairness of the graphics... the pixelation we see from that screenshot has a lot to do with the person taking the screenshot and the format he is saving it in. From other screenshots we have seen and the videos that have been released, the graphics look much better than these.
These look like they were saved with paint shop pro or something.
If you zoom in you can see the horrible pixelation around the text and the barb due to how the image was saved.
Well in regard to the lore aspects, they have said multiple times, there is more lore and more conversations in D3 then there are in D2. It is just that you don't have to sit there and read them, but they are voiced over so you can keep playing if you wish. Nothing wrong with this game design. I don't truly care if I have to read it or I have to hear it, as long as it is in there.
As for the graphics, again we don't have a clue what the setting were, or how they have been compressed and saved and everything else that can break down the integrity of the image.
Finally as for the character creation screen-It is better then what we originally had in D2 and far better then what was in the D2 beta. So chill, it will work itself out. This is beta.

Just to reply, that would be a buckler. It is supposed to be strapped to your arm instead of being held as a shield.
...yes... its a buckler... you are supposedly be able to dual yield, while having the buckler on also... but i dont know if that will be the case here...
It isn't always a duel wield mechanic. It really isn't even meant historically as a dual wield weapon. It was used and designed for fencing or for quick attacks. http://www.thearma.org/essays/SwordandBuckler.htm
Alright just my two cents, but everyone needs to stop flipping out over the fact that this brand new game is not exactly like two games made 10-12 years ago. I'm glad they changed it up, if I want to play diablo2 I'll go load up D2!!

Question: I would like to learn if this one with beta key is from media, press, friends and family or invites already started for all “normal” users.
Blizzard’s Answer: Beta testing is NOT started. I would like to remind you that you should be careful to all the information you receive. With the beta on the edge there are always a lot of thieves around. At this point of time we are getting prepared to start the internal beta testing (employee, friends and family), and for this period keys will not be sent. As soon as we will be able to open the closed beta for all who registered for it at the battle.net we will officially announce it. Invites will go out ONLY after an official announcement.
Where did the Beta downloader screenshot come from?

Question: Where that guy got that screenshots/client downloader?
Blizzard’s Answer: He could get it from anywhere. For years now we are showing out different builds on multiple gaming events, where anyone can try the game out.

I don't want to play D2, if I wanted to I wouldn't be sitting here. I don't want them to make the exact same game like they did in 2001...however I think we can all agree on the fact that if a game that is 11 years old is at some aspects clearly better than your new game, then you are doing something wrong. If the D2 menu worked, don't fix it. In this case 'don't break it' would be more appropriate. As I said before, I'm convinced this is just a placeholder...but if it isn't (which we don't know for sure)then I think it's worth discussing, don't you?

A soft answer turneth away wrath. Once wrath is looking the other way, shoot it in the head!
That's what I'm afraid of though. These 'incentives' of theirs somewhat anger me. 'You are supposed to be killing monsters not looking at the menu screens so we made the menu ugly'...'you are supposed to be fighting and completing quests not listening to lore/dialogue/gossip so we make dialogue continue on the run while you are killing stuff'...I won't even go to automatic skill/stat allocation so you don't have to spend time looking at those either... Hm, looks like I just went there anyway. Point is, I'd rather they dedicate sufficient time and effort to all of this instead of minimizing aspects of the game to make room for MOAR combat. Some people just like to take the game nice and slow, enjoy the art and atmosphere of it, soak in some lore and stuff and not just run around and loot. Though it is the core aspect of the game, it's not just that which makes Diablo great. Other ARPGS kill and loot just like Diablo does...but Diablo always was something more as well. I hope they don't streamline it too much.
Story telling and the overall "feel" of the game have been enhanced. Blizzard took one of the best developers out there for Quests and Lore (has worked in the original Fallout and Vampire: Bloodlines on that department).
Gameplay also seems solid. Combat has become a little more tactical and the new skill system offers variety. Runestones add even more depth to it.
I just won't worry about it. All the things I heared and read make me pretty convinced things will turn out to be great.
Looking good. The video of the hero selection screen looks awesome. The town in the screenshots looks awesome. Everything looks awesome. Can't wait for more!
It's interesting how in the character select screen, your character is decked out but when you select him/her, you get a wood axe and a measly shield. LOL

I didn't know that. Story elements in both of those games were freaking fantastic.
It's probably in the direction "don't spend much time outside of the game, get in and play".

I agree completely..
I'm worried that blizzard is listening too much to people just wanting epic lootz, and dont give a shit about the story...
A comment from jay in a video interview actually scared me..
he said that when they had story in a game, and forced the character to stop up and listen, they just clicked through it.. cos they wanted to keel keel monsterzlolz... this worries me..
JUST because the core of the gameplay resolves around killing stuff, why does that have to mean that all the other aspects of the game has too be dumbed down, and be added on with lackluster graphics in this case?
Seems like a cop-out to me.
You're complaining about graphics on a game that you haven't played, or a story that you haven't experienced. How about you take a step back and play the game first, then decide.

This is someone who knows nothing about how graphics and resolution works. The shield thing is splitting hairs, come on. Really? Where else should they put the shield then? how else should it be displayed, in his hand? should there be a strap on the shield? Should he have shieldhands? cause if he's holding it in his hand it really doesn't look very "barbaric" and it limits the designs of the shield to all look very small because it would look even more ridiculous if the shield is simply held in his hand. See example and imagine this with a larger sheild:
^^^to be frank, holding it like that looks pretty flamboyant.
As far as the criticisms on the UI, yeah it looks a bit minimalistic ATM but it looks fine. If people are going to be this hypercritical of such subjective elements of the game, those same people are likely to be disappointed with D3 no matter what.

Woah, woah WOAH, ease off there on the rational thought! This is the internet we're on, here. We don't take kindly to logical reasoning! <_<
Edit:
Sorry, that was kind of rude. I'm just getting irritable with all of the wild fears and crazy conclusions flying around these days. But, I understand people are just wound-up and don't have much else to discuss about D3.
