The time lapse between Diablo II and Diablo III is so large that it makes hyping up this game all-too-easy for Blizzard. Now, we're on the verge of Beta. The literal game is just within our grasp. We will begin to divulge, digest, and understand it. We will rip it apart.
But is that such a good thing? A fantasy is always better than the reality, even if it does actually happen, because a fantasy is perfect and left entirely up to the imagination. I rather enjoy the state we're in right now. It makes me feel like a happy, ignorant child. Diablo III is still just a fantasy and that feeling isn't going to last much longer. Soon, it will be real.

I have to agree with you. Waiting for the event is almost always better then the event, people just don't realize it until it happens enough times.
Everyday I can't wait to get home from work. Though after hundreds of days of this cycle, I've come to realize that my favorite part of the day is packing up and getting ready to go home. When I get home it's nice, but it's not as nice as I make it out to be in my head day after day at work.
I hope with the utmost seriousness that Diablo 3 doesn't end up being a causality of this concept. I have confidence it will be amazing, and still have enough unknowns in it to wow us on our first play through.
I'm 100% sure that the first few hours of playing will be pure ecstasy for me; I won't be able to put it down. Whether or not that feeling stays strong for very long will depend entirely on the level of satisfaction I get out of the game after I get a feel for it.
“We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about.” - Albert Einstein

Im just going to copy your post and leave it at that. It perfectly matches my thoughts so well, theres no need to add to it.
Disagree, Winged. Being home is SO MUCH BETTER than being at work, I am so completely more happy every time I get home from work (barring terrible drivers making me want to destroy humanity) than I ever am or likely ever will be AT work.
Anyway, D3 needs to come out so we can decide who is right.
P.S.- It's me! :-p
