So I didn't really think about it before but listening to the podcast and the whole there is no end game bit kinda bummed me out and made me realize that yeah what is the point really in playing threw over and over just to get the gear that in the end doesn't do you any good because you beat the final difficulty, I remember I stopped playing after normal mode in d2 for that very reason, its like well I already beat it why would I want to play threw again just to have it be harder, I know the story now nothing new is going to happen. Sure now you can sell stuff you find maybe get some real money but it's not going to be much. I was all pumped to play too, now I am just bummed. I guess it is probly just all the anticipation building and building and there has been no real new talk or news to speak of and its just like now I don't care anymore because they just keeps teasing us with it.
Something interesting they could do with the play through would be like different events happening, like say first act you kill diablo, second play would be what would happen if diablo weren't killed or like the madness that was happening to you from the soul stone. Something like parallel realities or something where different decisions were made and still using the same basic layout of replaying the storyline over, you got to keep the gear you found but still find out what would happen in different scenarios. Idk something that the story would have new events to keep things interesting.
But this is just my venting and rambling I feel better now

Ok, you obvious doesn't get Diablo games...
I believe you meant don't
And yes I get them just fine and I know my idea would not fit for diablo 3 unless they had done this in diablo 1 then sure it would be fine, but since all it took to keep people happy then was the simple minded hack and slash it doesn't fit, but it was an idea to give the game more depth which if you learned to read and write you would have picked up on the theme of the post.
TL;DR go back to school to learn to read and write and post something that would contribute to the topic
For PVP you can't, but I don't believe PVE is restricted like that, although you can choose diff matchmaking parameters. Could be wrong tho.
I coulda sworn they'd said they were doing this, but I could be wrong. I dunno, I feel like they will aim to group up roughly similar people, whether it be on quest progression or all their PVP parameters.
I don't recall reading anything about PvE restrictions, though given your example it would certainly be something I'd like in addition to just having open and passworded games. Would be disrupting to the experience if d-bags come in and troll all over you so level restrictions and whatnot would be preferable to leaving and making a new game.
OP, Diablo is about perfecting your character, not continually expanding story. Plot helps drive the game of course, but it's not what makes the game replayable. It's about the of high difficulties, finding better gear, PvP, and exploring different builds, all the while trying to find obscure builds that work better than anyone would have thought.
To each his own though, that's just what the game is about to me :).

Yeah see I don't think there are any restrictions just specific search parameters like you can search for a specific quest that the other players in the game might be on etc etc

I don't think it would ruin anything because I heard the xp is percentage based so really all he would be doing would be rushing the storyline which Jay said was fine.
i don't think OP wanted per se an expanding story, but rather he threw one out so people wouldn't be saying, "well look we have inferno mode for end game"
he wanted some other form of end game outside of arena pvp we currently have and progressively higher difficulty is how i interpreted

Well, the thing is, I wouldn't want that and I figure a lot of people don't. At the least, it's more fun for me to play through the game at my own pace, so if a guy comes in and just smashes through everything, yeah I'll get experience and loot, but it's not too fun if I'm not doing anything.

But that's not quite right. (I shall now use D2 quests as an example.) What if a level 1 newbie deliberately joined a game that had 3 other players who were on Andariel? Or, conversely, what if level 60 probie deliberately joined a game that had 3 other players who were on Normal Den of Evil and spoiled the game, as in my example above? There's gotta be more control on the Blizzard side. Even if they haven't said it, their statements on their design of the co-operative game thus far point to such an installment.

Level-rushing aside, people want to participate, not watch. Most people playing through would quit if some high-level guy came in and started playing that way. Also, the high-level guy could blast through without even bringing the low-level people along with him, so they'd get NO experience at all, and they would just walk through fields of pre-killed creeps.

IDFK man! It's too effing late for all this speculation and design mechanic theories. :-P

Says the person who spent a whole post calling me a grammar Nazi.
lol I'll give you that one but there was the difference that mine was out of lazyness, I knew the correct spelling I just chose not to use it. Him on the other hand chose to use a bigger word than was necessary and grammatically incorrect only to be a troll and have nothing worthy of the topic

Well, someone's gotta talk about it. It could be a real problem. This is actually why I hated playing on Battle.net in D2, because I wanted to play socially, but then some person would almost always come in and just start blasting everything apart.

exactly. I hate to bring WoW into it but it's the best example I can thing of, you get the gear you run raids and expand the endgame that way. As it is now you get the gear and then what? My biggest issue is wasting my accomplishments, in this case i beat 4 difficulties, got gear, worked out my build, all that....now what? level an alt and do it again? just feels like a waste to me when something more should happen, I feel like I should be building towards a goal like if you go through all the acts and all that and THEN kill diablo or something like that, I could deal with that

the somewhat good news for you is that during those story mode difficulties there will be quests. I think some of the quests were randomly generated (been a while i can't remember) and there were a lot more quests than compared to d2. We don't have details to this, so it will depend on how blizzard fleshed out questing... i hope it's good. it's like the only thing i'm hoping for at this point tbh

Make the game private? lol
Talk your friends into buying the game and play with them, then tell them to talk their friends into getting it and add them as friends.
