Wyatt Cheng and Jay Wilson on 1.0.5 IGN was able to talk to both Wyatt and Jay about patch 1.0.5. Below are some quick highlights from the article about the new features coming in 1.0.5. Make sure to check out the full article over on IGN.
"The goal of the system is to allow players set a monster power level, and the higher they set the level the bigger the bonuses they'll get to magic find, experience and loot drops -- but the harder the game will be."
Monster Power will work in all difficulties, including Normal.
"At level 60 players can find various objects to put together a device that will allow them to fight more powerful bosses hidden throughout the game,"
PvP will be ready when it's ready. They want to make it the best they can. "the original hope was this year, but they're focused on making its quality up to their standards."

Interesting. So we can set 'monster power' even on Normal. Depending on how much it actually affects legendary drop rate, farming Leroic's Signets might not be a bad idea after 1.0.5
Also kind of intrigued by the uber bosses and what kind of items we can expect from them.

Oh pitiful shadow lost in the darkness,
Bringing torment and pain to others.
Your damned soul wallowing in your sin.
Perhaps... it is time to die.
Wow PvP was playable in 2010 at expo's and was scheduled for "shortly after release"
Now their lieing and saying they originally said the end of the year???
And to add insult to injury are saying it wont be here till 2013?
Horrible public relations....I wonder why when it was playable in 2010 with full arenas with the schedule of launch(later being pushed back to "just after launch", they have failed this badly???
Hope lots were fired over the failure to meet deadlines.
What about after 1.0.5, though? Will we just see continual streams of small patches changing game systems? According to Wilson the team is "focused on making PVP really great, something appropriate for Diablo III," but they don't want to get so caught up in doing smaller improvement patches that they can't do things like, "say, not working on expansion content or the next bigger goals."
mmm...let' see if they learned from their previous mistakes, shut their mugs up, keep their heads down and give us something good.
I'm not a fan of the "share all with the community 4 year in advance, raise the expectations, scratch the game few months before expected release, scrap togheter something that resemble a game, patch it later till you have a good game" approach.
Have to say in my opinion they did a good job with patches and the game is actually fun to play.

Jay Wilson went to IGN!!???? OMG he is SOOOOOOO Electronic Arts.
Just saw a friend that is a very good player failing Diablo fight on inferno OVER AND OVER because it's a jaywilsoned encounter. Stupidly increased math, that doesn't account for the artifacts that brake fight mechanics.
His only option was to keep trying until LUCK allowed him to fight without any of those broken mechanics happening.

PvP was avalaible in 2010 at expo's blizzard attended. They also stated during beta they were ment to have PvP at release but that it would be pushed back till shortly after release.
Then YOU FAILED TO READ:
""the original hope was this year, but they're focused on making its quality up to their standards."
Which is in the top line of the article were posting about and obviously implys that they dont have the resources to get it out this year, even though they had finished one of the systems and made it playable in 2010 and promised it to customers before release that it would be avalible shortly after.
I guess having the best selling video game of all time still doesn't give you enough money to be able to meet internal or even publically annouced deadlines even with 3 years of pre-development/their obviously small amount of staff
Its a bloody tough multi-billion dollar industry I tells ya.../sigh

Its because they are trying to figure out how to let people with 200k damage and only 500k ehp fight eachother with out it being really really really stupid (1 shot fest)

As we're counting down the days until we're ready to announce a release date for Diablo III, we've come to realize that the PvP game and systems aren't yet living up to our standards. Today, we wanted to let you know that we've made the difficult decision to hold back the PvP Arena system and release it in a patch following the game's launch. After a lot of consideration and discussion, we ultimately felt that delaying the whole game purely for PvP would just be punishing to everyone who's waiting to enjoy the campaign and core solo/co-op content, all of which is just about complete.
While we work on making sure PvP lives up to its full potential, we hope you'll find some consolation in the fact that soon, you'll be having a blast leveling characters, finding items, learning the classes, and perfecting builds…and that when the Arenas do arrive, you’ll be all the better prepared for battle.
When the PvP patch is ultimately ready, it will add multiple Arena maps with themed locations and layouts, PvP-centric achievements, and a matchmaking system that will help you and your team get into fairly matched games quickly and easily. We'll also be adding a personal progression system that will reward you for successfully bashing in the other team's skulls.
We know a lot of you are looking forward to PvP, and we’ll be focusing our post-launch efforts on making sure the Arenas are as brutal, bloody, fast-paced, and awesome as we know they can be. In the meantime, we're in the process of putting the finishing touches on what we think is a truly epic campaign and co-op experience for launch.
We'll have a lot more info to share on the PvP system in the future, and we look forward to the moment we can get the game into your hands.
SHow me in here where it says "shortly after release"?
Too bad about the pvp news for people that were interested in that (I'm not though, I think pvp will be boring and unbalanced).
I wonder if the magic find will allow us to stack over the MF cap. Otherwise it will be a bit contradicting to the system they're going after. Once you acquire good enough gear to do the higher difficulty levels you'll naturally have a higher paragon level (and probably some MF on your gear) so the reward won't be so great.
However, if it lets us break the cap (and possibly more item drops)... that should be a decent reward.
I wonder what is being done to the monsters to increase difficulty though. If it's just increased HP, that won't make the game harder. I hope it's at least increased damage and hp. If they increase the damage though, they're going to run into the same problems they originally ran into with Inferno. Ranged classes getting 1 shot and melee classes complaining that they're forced to take all their defensive skills. It will be pretty funny if this new system brings all those issues back.
Praise the gods. If these legendaries weren't BoA the AH would devalue them so fast that you'd be able to get them for a few hundred thousand, maybe even less, in a few days' time.

"Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the small death that brings total obliteration."
I may still think that the game needs even more to be able to have more longevity but I'm really happy to see that the devs are trying their best to improve this game. Looking foward to 1.0.5 and hoping they keep putting more content, I can wait for PvP but please don't leave us with something like 6 months without anything while we wait for it.
Considering what products we have received when it has been up to their standard - I fail to see any objectivity to your skepticism.
They always claim it was up to their standards when they do get critical acclaim and never when it gets bad reception.
Only using hindsight to gauge your "standards" is the anti-thesis of assuring. Also you are clearly forgetting which team is working on this game. Not SC, not WoW. But rather the fail team. The team that actually had standards for Diablo has their game releasing in two days.
