Update - The beta patch 13 should hit the beta servers during the week end.
Official Blizzard Quote:
To ensure that all systems and changes included in Beta Patch 13 are working properly, we've decided to take some extra time to continue internal testing. As a result, we will not be releasing Beta Patch 13 today. We will, however, be working through the weekend and look forward to delivering the patch on either Saturday or Sunday.
Thank you for your patience! Should any changes to this schedule occur, we'll be sure to provide an update in this thread.
Beta Auction House Changes Incoming - Listing Fee Removed
Blizzard posted about upcoming changes to the Real Money Auction House, the most important one being the removal of the listing fee.
Official Blizzard Quote:
In the near future, we'll be implementing several changes to the posting limits and fees related to the beta version of the Diablo III auction house. Here’s a quick summary of what’s in store:
Listing fee is being removed.
Transaction fee is being increased to 1.25 Beta Bucks.
Minimum listing price is being raised to 1.50 Beta Bucks.
You will be limited to 10 active auctions per auction house.
With the removal of the listing fee, players will no longer need to worry about whether they’re going to run out of free listings for the week. In addition, introducing a limit on the number of active auctions means players won’t feel as though they should be trying to sell everything they find, potentially flooding the auction house with unwanted items. Under this new system, players will only pay an auction house fee if and when an item actually sells. This has the main advantage of allowing players to try to sell their items risk-free. In addition, because the transaction fee is already baked into the price when an item is listed (as part of the minimum listing price), it’s no longer possible to be in a situation where you don’t have enough Battle.net Balance to list an item, forcing you to have to charge up your Balance just to attempt a sale. We think this will be a much cleaner process for selling items and will ultimately lead to a better experience when using the currency-based auction house.
This new active-auction limit will also apply to the gold-based auction house. Because gold can be sold on the currency-based auction house, we need to ensure there are limitations on the gold auction house as well; otherwise, a player might be tempted to sell everything for gold and then sell that gold on the currency-based auction house, which isn’t supportive of the kind of thriving item-driven market we’re trying to foster. In addition, for the first time in the beta test, we're planning to have both the gold- and currency-based auction houses active at the same time when these changes go live. Of course, one of our main goals in making these changes to the beta is to test how they’ll work out, and we look forward to hearing your feedback once you have a chance to try them.
Sweet. I know I plan on trying to get money from D3 to pay for WoW or other Blizzard stuff so no listing price helps me a bit. Plus I'm not one who wants to spend money to sell stuff. Now there is an ETA on the patch yet?

I don't always burn. But when I do, I use hellfire.
The changes to the Beta Auction House that we're talking about here are not tied to Diablo III Beta patch 13. The two may not be going live at the same time.
What do you mean, then? You were inquiring about where the patch was (or a delay), so I linked the news post that was relevant. If you were looking for a blue post about the specific date/time, then there is no such post.
So if u put up an item for 1.50 u only win 0.25? That's a joke really...
If this translates to euro or dollars people will be scared by the high prices and won't buy anything. I was hoping to sell stuff for like 0.25 / 0.5 and then sell alot of it. I wouldn't consider with 0.25 or 0.50 but with prices over a 1 dollar or euro i would give it some more thought and maybe not even buy it.
I agree, someone selling gold, would need to sell it at 1.50 to make some amount of money on it. does having a fixed amount set the standards for what goes into the ah and what the minimal amount to buy any kind of item
Unless I misunderstand you can't list something for $1.50 and actually cash out. Isn't the paypal fee gonna be at least $0.30 per transaction? You could put the 25 cents on your blizzard balance, obviously, but it seems like they'd put the minimum listing cost at an amount that would guarantee enough money for cash out.
I think is an excellent compromise from the listing fees. It shows that Blizz isn't 'greedy for taking a cut on everything' and it also shows their desire to control the auction house. The one thing I feared when we heard there were no regions is that the sheer amount of players would have a lot of junk. By having the active auctions it prevents me from flooding the market. Even if it would have costed me a percentage of my listing, I could still make a killing by flooding the market, now I can't.
This means I will have to be actively on the game, no just flooding with 50 things and then vanish to a different account. I think the reason they made the change was to force the player to be actively sitting there and not putting it on auto pilot. Finally a change I welcome!!

Sometimes you don't always know where you stand... until you know that you won't run away.
I LOVE THIS! Its going to make both AH systems much leaner and controlled. There won't be pages, upon pages of crap. This also lets the market have a modicum of balance rather than thousands of listings of each item.
If you listen carefully - you might here the cries of anguish from RMAH farmers....
The removal of the listing fee is a really good thing, I don't see any reason not to approve that. I don't agree with the minimum listing price restriction, it shouldn't have any. I believe the transaction fee should be a % of the transaction cost. (10-15%) I'm totally fine with the limit of 10 active auctions per auction house on the RMAH but I don't really like the fact that they also restrict the gold AH in reason to that. I am not saying I don't agree with the reason why. I have never really agreed with the RMAH, I was still okay with it since I will most likely be able to sell some stuff I farmed for real money when playing in softcore. They should have just found a way to completely counter bots in the first place. I hope they won't tweak the AH anymore than that because of the RMAH.

Beta Bucks are just a substitute for real currency for purposes of the beta.

Well, nuts to that. I want it with the patch!
It could end up being $1.25 when Diablo III is released, but who's to say it couldn't change?
That too.
Patch 13 Before Weekend, Character Wipe Included

Anyways, doesn't seem like patch 13 will be today, getting late even on the west coast.
I kinda hope that price goes down a bit though, not even worth selling gear for leveling on the AH.
