I don't see why people have their panties in a wad over the RMT AH. People did the same thing in DII, only 3rd party sites were used instead. Why shouldn't Blizzard do this? I think it's a great idea actually because now Blizzard can monitor it, and people will not get ripped off.
Anyway, everything I've seen looks completely awesome. I don't really know how I feel about the skill system. I'll just have to play it and find out whether I like it or not.

I just spent the past hour reading EVERYTHING and I agree that the current Runesystem is probably best. While I see the advantages of the second, I like the current one the most.
As for the money-AH, I have no qualms. I doubt I'll use it much, if not at all, but, it's still nice to have and basically promises death to D2jsp and item websites. Thank YOU Diablo III. I hate Jsp.
I'm eagerly awaiting the beta!

I am categorically disappointed with what I've read here. Specifically, the 6-skill 3 trait limitation coupled with the fact that you get ALL SKILLS and they scale with level or gear. It's more auto-stat distribution ideas. What is this, a cell-phone flash game?
And don't even get me started on the real gold AH. The interview with Jay Wilson made the RGAH sound even WORSE than I could have possibly imagined it. He sounded so incredibly smug about it in his responses. I could tell from the way he answered that he is just a shrewd business man.
I'm not especially convinced this is a game I even want to play any more. I'm not mad, or disappointed.. Just surprised at these continual development choices which seem to be creating a game I don't want to play.
Your looking at it at a bad POV, you can make money from a game you love to play and will play for a while so why not get money out of it if you can?
Because that's why I have a fucking JOB. So I can make money, pay bills, and with what's left over, DO THINGS THAT DO NOT REQUIRE ME TO MAKE MONEY.
Game = Play
Job = Work
What's the difference? Money.

PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
I think people are really overreacting about the real money auction house. You don't HAVE to spend real money to do well in the game. The RMAH will potentially earn more money for Blizzard which means that Diablo 3 will have a means of supporting itself and paying for the cost of running the servers. Would you rather have this or paid subscription? Battle.net 2.0 is not a cheap system to operate. WoW has monthly subscription and SC2 has e-sports money.
Why would you get offended by the idea of someone who paid for their items being further than you? That same thing was rampant in Diablo 2. Besides, if you spend time farming and selling your wares on the RMAH, you can use the e-currency to buy the items you need.
People are ignoring the fact that you can't cash out the money in real life. D3 won't turn into a business because there is no business incentive. In fact the RMAH may be an effective tool in limiting the number of people who attempt to play the game solely for the purpose of farming stuff and selling it for real money.
Reading that D3 will have a Money-Based AH literally makes me sick to my stomach. Someone that starts the game 6 months late, but has $100 to blow, will suddenly be more geared than me (who will have started on day one). Or some lazy-fat kid is going to be better geared than me because he mommy will buy him everything. You might say "well you can buy items too" -- no! Fuck that, I refuse to by virtual items. I will also refuse to sell virtual items for real money. I will refuse to play with anyone that spends real money on items. Thanks Blizzard for this absolutely stupid new system. And wow, yeah, lets just let complete noobs buy a character. Fucking brilliant Blizzard (I hate you). You might have just turned me into a SWTOR fan... or maybe Guild Wars 2.

Nope, you don't understand. All the best items will be sold exclusively on the RMAH. Why? Because demand will be equal in both currencies (real money and in-game gold (IGG)). So it would be foolish not to make some scratch.
All the item farmers who would have been loading up the IGG AH will now all post their items on the RMAH. So everyone will be FORCED to use the RMAH for everything useful, and the IGG AH will quickly become a dump-heap.
Don't believe me? Wait a while. List me one SINGLE country in the world that uses more than one currency in their own economy. Then tell me how well that economy is working. You cannot maintain a bounded economy with multiple currencies and no control over exchange rate (you can buy/sell IGG with/for RM).
The bottom line is, 3rd party web sites were not the norm, they were corner case because D2 gold WAS USELESS DUE TO BAD DESIGN. Instead of making gold viable in D3, they have admitted defeat and ENCOURAGED people to carry on the RM mindset. Why? Because they figured out a way to profit from it, and what with WoW subscriptions plummeting, I'm sure kotick has jay wilson's nuts in a vice.

Proof? If you won't be able to cash out the money, than what's the point? It will be the same as buying some gold.

Comparing an in-game currency system with a real-world economy is a fucking ludic fallacy.
Also, look at the entire continent of Europe. Most every country accepts their own currency and Euros, and most places also accept American dollars.

Hmm there are actually conflicting bits of information here. In the recap video they say you can't cash out, but in the FAQ it says you can cash out. Now I'm just confused.
EDIT: And to all the people whining about being surpassed by people who spend real money. Is your e-peen big enough yet?
I play video games to have fun and get away from reality(to roleplay, that's why it's called an rpg), the thought that people can buy items off of sites always irked me and made me want to play single player. Real money makes me think of reality, and it saddens me the company itself is now using money to be an integral part of trading. It's ironic how they've been trying to push for improved multiplayer and getting people to play it, yet this is something that repulses me away from playing with others. It's like the guy above posted, you go to work to make money, not play some video game.
This will most likely make me play hardcore and still continue down my mostly singleplayer path.
The other new things weren't even exciting enough that this new info has underwhelmed me more than any past information announcement. I stayed up until midnight for this <_<

I'm quite happy with the Auction House. This way I can make some money out of the game I'll be playing for years in a quite safe and legal way.
The amount of information given was (finally) huge too!
Yes, in essence, the real money AH does not differ significantly from 3rd-party trading sites like D2JSP conceptually. It will just be infinitely safer and the destination of the cash is better known.
I raged for 15 minutes myself when I learned about this. But then I started to think about D2JSP and how the economy there worked and was stable mostly due to the real money stopping any gigantic inflation.
Knowing full well just how rampant real world trading was in Diablo 2 all I can say is that this is great.
As I think the game will be relatively unhackable you won't have to worry about duped items, and there won't be exorbitant prices on items that the site claims aren't duped, everything being sold you know you're getting for real. Plus you can sell your items on the real money AH, you will get money with which you can put back into the game.
The fact is Diablo 2 had real world trading, and lots of it. So they put the system in and made it safe, and legit, and AH's in general are a great idea for Diablo 2 as it was very hard to sell items in D2 that weren't amazing (but still somewhat valuable) and you always had to worry that what you were getting was duped.
Mostly I support this based on these things:
No duped items
People would pay for items anyway
People would pay for gold anyway to buy things on the AH, making it no different from spending real money on the game
Auction houses for this game are awesome
People would sell and buy characters/accounts anyway, happens all the time in wow, less so in D2 due to ease of leveling up a character and who wants to pay for what is not a huge time investment
Realistically, who can remember having it easy in the D2 economy? It wasn't easy. Everyone with lots of extremely valuable stuff either botted or bought it off people who botted, it was a botting problem
I am rather assuming there will be no bots in the game
It is not a full-on microtransaction system, Blizzard is not putting any items artificially into the game, everything on the AH will have been dropped and found by players
On a side note: I wonder if you can sell gold on the gold-orientated AH?

I'm a bit worried about runes, maybe my poor grasp of language did'n let me understand it properly but the explanation got me confused and worried.
Also, they changed (again) skills and traits.
Seems like they can't make up their minds and keep changing stuff.
I hope for the better and look forward to beta reportages to get a better idea.
You have to choose your items and which skills to pick( a few other too probably, but these are the main 2). They decides to take away skill distribution and number crunching so you don't have to work as hard. A kind of disturbing trend i've been noticing in most gaming today.
