I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I've been away from the forums for a while and I can't find it right now.
Which number is actually used for the "weapon damage" skills use? Can I see this number somewhere? Is it dps or damage (i.e. will wielding a 2h axe with the same dps as a dagger result in more damage on Earthquake?)
Is there a way to know for sure whether attack speed matters for a skill? My intuitive guess would be that "click to attack" skills all depend on speed, while "one shot" skills depend on damage. But then how am I supposed to know hydra uses speed as well?
I posted a similar thread in the barbarian forum. I think 'channeled abilities' like rapid fire/whirlwind use the DPS but 'click abilities' use the damage and attack speed for their cast times. But idk how earthquake works since its neither channeled nor has a cast time ?

actually, the "weap dmg" is always the dmg you see on your wep + bonus from your main stat(Str,Dex,Int) + modifiers (passives, + max/min etc), based on that, you have a chance to crit, and the dmg bonus will apply, and attack speed will change how often you can use the spell.
but i'm not sure how it works on chanelled spells, if it ticks faster or have no effect at all.
i think it makes the spell tick faster.
An easy way to check your weapon damage is to remove one of your mouse skills to reveal your melee attack. (shift+click and drag) this will show your base weapon damage.
now take that number and multiply it by your primary stat (str, dex, int) and you will get your weapon damage.
they should make an easy way to track this. like holding over your damage to see weapon damage+primary stat instead of the IAS crit and crit damage calcualtion
