I started using some Ice Armor after James1v12's demonstration. I decided I could try it as well and attempt to push my survival rate on MP10 to as close to 100% as possible (without Unstable Anomaly).
Skill build is standard Living Lightning-based Hybrid Archon: click here.
Just instead of Energy Armor, Ice Armor - Crystallize is used instead. For me, personally, the difference between max stacked Ice Armor vs. Prismatic Armor is only a fraction of a percentage point (both approximately 94% total damage reduction). However, Ice Armor also comes with the benefits of reducing incoming melee damage by 12% and also can chill/freeze melee attackers to work with Cold-Blooded rune.
Give it a try.
And excuse the wonky resolution for the video. I encoded it with the wrong settings and was too lazy to redo everything.
seems to work nicely thanks for the upload. It feels like me on mp7.... yeah i know what you mean about extra health affix mobs... seems the runs i do lately like to spawn me RD mobs with extra health very often. I will give this a go i always liked ice armour

May the heroes rise from the pit of despair and the bards sing of the day of death renewed to everlasting immortality....awaiting your return to the lands of Sanctuary may peace be with you on this day...your day of birth.
We were just talking about this on my Conjuration skills thread. =) We need more vids and threads like this to encourage people to try out less used skills. It helps give the ideas cred when a veteran, geared-like-mad wizard does it, too. :Thumbs Up:
I noticed you're using the Cold Blooded passive. Is that just for when you're out of Archon form (and using Frost Nova)? Or is it because you are using a Scoundrel with "cold dmg"?
You could also mention another pro of using Ice Armor (compared to Energy Armor). You don't get your arcane power reduced by 20 (which isn't a big deal in the Archon build you linked, but on other builds might be).

As Maffia pointed out before, Ice Armor does chill/freeze melee mobs. And I do have a Scoundrel with Buriza and high pierce/freeze and IAS. So most of the cold is from him.
I know Ice Armor has the effect but it only works on melee enemies/elites and it only lasts for a couple seconds (as well as requiring them to hit you first - hence not being active all the time).
But with the Scoundrel with a Buriza, all is fine I suspected you used him.
