I switched to try wind + explosive blast and its really quite nice ofcourse with the limitation of being unable to handle ranged waller mobs very effectively. I think spectral blades is really important to have though both for the insane amount of life on hit and the effect it has on arcane dynamo which i mentioned earlier and which actually increases my total damage by maybe as much as 50% since you can have a 75% extra damage explosive blast every time.
I've gone up to 12k armor and 1250allresists with 20k hp and 20% crit and I handle act3 very well, being able to sit in arcane sentries or molten for several seconds if I have a reasonable amount of monsters around me to get hits on.
Here's my updated stats, increasing my hp from 20k to 40k would make this almost unkillable.
Teleport is important if you're relatively squishy, and unimportant if you're rather tanky.
If you have good DPS, just wand down the ranged mobs. If you don't, but are rather tanky, just skip them and find something that will stand in the whirlwinds.
Short Fuse is strong when you're high DPS and it finishes things off when you hit the button; it's weak and you're better off with Chain when you're low DPS and will be chipping away for a few seconds.
Wicked Wind is honestly the only skill that is indispensable, as it's the utterly broken engine at the heart of it all; the rest can and should be swapped in or out depending on what you're doing and what your gear looks like.
I finally managed to clear act 2 after getting myself a new weapon, problem is. When I tried act 3, I was getting pounded like hell.
Know what the issue is though kinda, to low crit, AP on crit and resistances yet. And should probably get a bit more LoH as well.
Not having enough crit is really bad I found out (no shit), As I am starved of AP, and can't keep diamond skin up as well as keeping the mobs frozen in place
Keep changing my build all the time, when I use a signature spell (have used spectral blades and shock pulse with various runes, in addition to wicked wind. But then I end up with more AP then I can spend, and while not using any signature spell then I got to little AP again.. sigh.
At least now I should have no problem farming act 2, getting tired of act 1...
I was using 31% for some time, then got to 35%, and thats when I rly started locking down mobs(including elites) with frost nova, 35% seems right, but it was still a little low to lockdown those ranged mobs with "fast" affix, very annoying, so I guess 40% it is, if u dont want to get too crazy, also 15 ap on crit or more for a nice flow of ww/eb.
In my opinion spamming frost nova takes up too much cast time, a perfect situation would be one where you can kill rares without having to use nova so much.
Also getting high end upgrades for this build is impossible TT

sorry but I disagree, perfect situation is simply perma freeze anything.

Considering that FN has no mana cost and helps to keep elites in your WWs, I tend to disagree as well. Not to mention the +20% damage from Cold Blooded.

Not sure what to say to help...can you share all pertinent stats?
I just facetank almost everything so mobs running around isn't a big deal, and not everyone uses cold blooded either. The point i'm trying to make is that nova being unlike instant cast diamond skin is really annoying.
What would be the minimum crit hit chance % that makes this build viable? Would 20% do?
from personal experience, if u rly wanna lock things down u need 35% crit and like 15 ap on crit, sure less works too, but in act 3 you will get owned if u dont semi perma freeze things on a regular, unless you are "the tank".
I've been farming act3 with 20% crit and 5ap on crit, if you use spectral blades along with WW its fine, star pact with hydra works too. You need more crit if you die easily but the point of the build is that you don't.
Want to try this build. Like idea and such tank very much. Maxyim, may be you will create link to most "standart" build in your 1st post of this topic when you begin Spec-section???
It is comfortable for reader to click fast and see it(before read all your text). I know that build can be changed(little), but it will be nice for user to click "change rune" and read hints when he read your instructions. Especially if they don't know class and abilities very good, or play in different language(and don't remember english names).
Just an idea. May be you will like it.
I found 30% crit a nice place to be at as i started out at 20 but found i needed like 20 mobs on me all the time but with 30 even if im taking a solo mob like an elite with invuln minions I crit enough to stay full AP. I dont even bother with crit damage because I use MF on all my gear and with 32K DPS it doesnt really matter. I was at 700 resists which was pretty over kill for Act 1 so dropped them down to 500 each and lost 6k health but jumped from 22K DPS to 31K DPS and got my MF up 20 more points. I thought about going even lower on my resists, like down to 300 for more MF but Id have to start replacing all my gear. And sometimes on those damn shielding mobs with desecrate, jailer, molten its nice to have resists.
Also I dont use a shield. Id rather have 10 more AP return on crit from a 350 damage source. Maybe if I was farming Act 3 I might use a shield.
Ohh and I would always use spectral blade with deep cuts as your right click. Teleport or the dome might be nice but you wont ever kill treasure goblins unless you have blades. They just dont like tornadoes it seems and unless you corner them they always gate. Also with spectral blades even if he trains me through mobs I can freeze them and just keep slicing away at the goblin. If you group alot then use the dome for attack speed or 20% damage but if you solo blades are a must cause I have gotten 5 rares off a goblin and another time got 2 level 63s and a legendary. Letting them get away is BAD.

I did OK in act 2 with 16% to start. That said, this is one of the most important stats to increase quickly; the fewer targets you have, the harder it is to tank at lower crit rates (meaning that packs are harder in general).
That said, if you can get at least 8% from shield, 6% from gloves, 3% from bracer and 8% from blue LoH/crit rings, you have 30% already; I think that this is a reasonable goal to shoot for.

I think that I actually prefer forcing people to read through the logic. That said, good point about different languages. I will put a link in.
I'm having difficulty finding the best combination of stats on rings that isn't in the 7digit range. I've been trying to fit in loh or crit on rings but it ends up being too expensive when keeping allresists and armor present. Does anyone know how i can weigh these against each other and what values to aim for. I'm asking this based on rings only, regardless of what my total stats are.
I get almost all gear(buy some new crap:)) to try this build. I plan to start with "Bucher runs". Than A2. Just to test it.
Need only wand with LoH+APonCrit and with not very low damage(at least 770dps and some little dps-buff, to change my current main weapon 935dps+170int+11AS). Stats:
21k dps(will be low after new weapon) - 28k hp
~1000AR - 8000Armor with Prismatic.(700-4650 unbuffed)
Crit chance=28.5% Crit dmg=73% AP on Crit = 7
LoH=320 (wait for new weapon. also can get more with amulet and rings update)
Have 2 questions: 1) If i will get 10AP/crit(buy new helm) and 800-1000LoH(rings+amu) i can clear A1, A2? A3? (so i can start try without main weapon change. don't want to buy 600-700dps crap) 2) I often play with friend-barb. So for team-play with my current stats i need to change PrismaticArmor(AR buff) for Pinpoint Barier(+5%crit)? Or may be i can change some gear to have 1000AR with Prismatic and Shout but will get more DPS???

for act 1 u dont even need loh... what Id advise u to do is try to squeeze some more crit chance % and ap on crit if possible as those are the pillars of the build, u know to make the chain explosions and perma freeze flow. After that you look for things like more defense/res, LoH, and after those things more damage.
I replaced frost nova with improved archon, less rsi, more fun and runs are faster ^^
Nova - is one of the most important key of the build
If you ok without it, so you can change another abilities to buff your archon and post in another thread. :)))
Btw i already get "starting gear" to try this build.Very fun to play.
How to kill invulnerable packs?? For now - the most hard elites to kill.
