Blizzard has just released their fourth batch of screenshots (see here if you missed the third) for hitting the 625k 'Like' mark. Once again, we've got the high resolution versions at our disposal here on DiabloFans.
Click the images to bask in the glory of the high resolution versions that you likely won't see anywhere else!
The first image we have here is a rendered image of the Tristram Cathedral and looks beautiful... Though something I want to point out, back in Diablo I, there was a fence on the right side of the Cathedral just past the graveyard... It now looks like it's open and that trail leads to another city/town... I wonder where that could be heading to?
The second screenshot depicts the Witch Doctor firing his Poison Dart skill against some Walking Corpses and what looks to be an Unburied. You can also see a Zombie Dog heading up into the fray.
25,000 more likes to go until the 650k mark where we can get some more images, and 15 more milestones until we hit the 1 million 'Like' goal. Go visit facebook.com/Diablo and 'Like' the page to speed the war effort!
I know this isn't D1 but...Where's the blood trail?

If that is what it looks like in game....I will have to find those folks complaining about art and punch them in the mouth. :starwars: But seriously, those are fantastic!

If that made sense to you, Bravo! I think I even confused myself...
The cathedral looks amaaaaazing. I would assume its part of a cinematic as I don't think the player journeys into it until after it gets hit by that meteor/comet. Obviously I don't know for sure but I thought that was what brought everyone to Tristram. I hope we get more stuff like this in future Facebook rewards.
There was no Cathedral in D2 because Tristam was cut off from what would have been left of the cathedral.
But the Tristram we see in D3 is "New Tristram" if I remember correctly.
Edit: I really like the pot of stewing gizzards in the WD screenshot.

Holy smokes! Now I don't really care where that Cathedral picture came from but it looks AMAZING! Imagine that as a kind of loading screen like we had in D1. It looks incredible.
BTW, I tought that the Tristram Cathedral WAS there in D2. That burned down area in the northern corner of tristram, with just the walls and the impaled rogue to the right...that wasn't the remains of the Cathedral?

A soft answer turneth away wrath. Once wrath is looking the other way, shoot it in the head!
In Diablo II players visit only Tristram -- not the Cathedral which lies some distance away. The cathedral is still technically there, but it is blocked by the walls of Tristram. Similar to Adria's shack.
I thought there were just trees behind those walls.
Well thats mainly because so much of the concept art hasn't been shown. We only know very few of the artists as a result. I'm pretty sure this is the first piece of art we've seen done by this person, and even if we had more pieces from them the signature seems to say is maybe T. Kraig or maybe T. Haig, which doesn't give us much.
And as far as the cinematics, I've always enjoyed Blizzard's stuff in that regard. Not to mention we'll still probably get a really good look of the entrance and sides of the church from the isometric view in game. Kind of like the monastery in Act 1 of D2.
According to the world map, that city behind could be either Bramwell, Dumcraig or Kingsport
Its definitely New Tristram. None of those places look to be in walking (or sight) distance of Tristram.

I thought It was an illustration/concept art piece. Especially because it's signed.

Too bad it isn't a little bigger though. Granted, it's still my background on my desktop...lol
Too bad we'll never see that angle (or anything remotely close to it) in-game.

Which I'll maybe watch once. Maybe. Let's just hope the demon hunter promo isn't a taste of the kind of writing we can expect.
Anyhow, it is funny - a fantastic piece of art comes down the pike, with a clear signature, and none of the 'fans' have any idea who made it.
