Full 6 piece set for the Shadow's Mantle, with a Diamond in the Helm, Emeralds in the Torso and Legs for full offense, or Amethysts or Diamonds in the Legs for better defense. Area Damage bonus is key to the build and should be prioritized over other secondary affixes, though any bonus Cold damage is exceptionally helpful.

For Amulets it is another case for using the Traveler's Pledge for optimized damage resistance while mobile and increased outgoing damage while stationary, Hellfire Amulet being another good choice for a more offensive/defensive passive skill and Ess of Johan helping with enemy grouping and adding even more Slow effect stacking to the build. For Rings, Elusive Ring stacks on the damage reduction from Shadow Power is a good defensive choice, especially synergizing with having to use the skill to trigger the Night Bane rune to Slow enemies further and thus activating the ring itself. A more offensive option is Pandemonium Loop, allowing the Fearing of enemies on hit and on death they explode for 800% weapon damage as Physical, which for this build is a very viable option given how the playstyle for the build encourages enemy grouping and slowing them to the extent that even Feared they aren't able to run away from being grouped effectively.

Legendary Gems here focus on attack support, Bane of the Trapped to further increase damage to Slowed/Chilled/Frozen enemies and Gogok of Swiftness to facilitate faster attacks and dodging as well as improved cooldowns. Invigorating Gemstone is the defensive/healing choice here to improve healing from all sources upon attacking enemies, and the rank 25 bonus making the Demon Hunter immune to Crowd Control is highly valuable to allow the Demon Hunter proper mobility and uninterrupted attacking.

Nemesis Bracers for speed running Rifts.

For the Belts, Sash of Knives is the foremost option for overall improved DPS upon attacking enemies, with variables for both attack and defense available as affixes for the belt. Cord of the Sherma is another source of Slowing enemies as well as Blinding them in a 35 yard radius on attack, though for sheer attack statistics Witching Hour is of course a viable option.

Paragon of 1000 and above is required for pushing past T11/GR60 range, with a priority on Dexterity for damage and Armor and then Vitality at roughly a 10 to 5 spending ratio once Maximum Hatred and Movement Speed are maxed out.

Cooldown Reduction is key for frequent use of Vengeance, followed Attack Speed for Gogok and then Critical Chance and Damage.

Life Regeneration is important here for use with Invigorating Gemstone, Resist All and Armor for defense and then overall Life total.

Area Damage is again key to this build, Life on Hit as another healing source to boost and Resource Cost Reduction to boost use of Impale and Spike Traps. Gold Find is not applicable.

Build Guide

This build has been tested in 2.6.0 on PS4 and PC up through 2.6.1.

The build works to branch off the strengths of Shadow's Mantle as a defensive set towards a more offensive lean, based off the foundation of the Impale focused build for it but with Cold elemental damage and skills to Slow and Chill enemies for grouping to hit with multiple Impale daggers via Holy Point Shot and high Area Damage to make the DPS values higher against mobs rather than just single enemies.

The Cubed items are to facilitate the strengths of the skills rather than add others to supplement them, Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac to boost time up on Vengeance and use of Fan of Knives, Visage of Gunes to add 50% damage reduction to Vengeance while active, and Dawn for Vengeance cooldown reduction.

The attack range of the skill focuses on being able to hit enemies in large groupings, but still be able to sweep up stragglers even at further distances. Impale with Overpenetration and the Holy Point Shot quiver allows the Demon Hunter to skewer through whole swarms of enemies with a single use at close and longer ranges at massive damage with the 6 piece set bonus, while offset by the close range AoE use of Fan of Knives, which with the Bladed Armor rune also adds more armor upon use. Use of Marked for Death with the Mortal Enemy rune is vital, as combined with the effects of Karlei's Point it is responsible for return generation of Hatred when using Impale and generating Hatred using Fan of Knives.

Shadow Power is even more valuable than usual with the 4 piece bonus adding all runes to the skill and most of the effects lasting forever upon initial usage. However the skill can still be activated on demand to use the Night Bane rune for additional Slowing of enemies, and this works to proc the Elusive Ring's damage reduction if used. Vengeance with the From the Shadows rune is an overall DPS boost and grants further Chilling and Freeze effects and damage upon every attack. Vault is used solely as a movement/strategic placement skill, so the Acrobatics rune to remove the Discipline cost is ideal.

The passives work to facilitate the outgoing damage of the build and improving defense and healing, Numbing Traps for reducing enemy damage and making damage reduction effects even more effective, Ambush for overall boost of initial damage dealing, Cull the Weak for an additional 20% damage bonus to all Slowed and Chilled enemies and Leech for further healing with Invigorating Gemstone.
