Rotation is fairly simple. When first approaching enemies use bone armor and then begin attacking with grim scythe minimum of three swings to stack curses. Use bone armor when ever the CD is up to max out your stacks and deal damage. Use corpse Lance to tear higher hp enemies down quicker and as you have corpses on the ground. Use blood rush to get out of trouble or skip trash. Land of the dead and Army of the dead are usually reserved for elites or a death prevention method if getting overrun by mobs.

Build Guide
Hey folks this is an update to my Pale Rider build taking into account the hotfix changes that have just taken place. Now with Miranei having a 15% chance on hit I am returning this build to its origins and working to continue to add more primals to the build and improve its push ceiling. I will be updating this build as I further refine it and also will be following up with a build guide video. In the mean time feel free to join me for the live stream Mon-Thrus 9:30pm to 10:30pm start time till 2am.
The first Necromancer build on Diablo Fans! Awesome!
Update on this build it cleared up to GR79 last night with less then 700 para at the time. So with some further para lvls and refinement I think this build could push into the top rankings. As of last night I stood at rank 28 on the leader boards.
Does Leger's increase Grim Scythe even if it doesn't replenish any Essence? There aren't really any spenders so it seems odd to use it unless it doesn't matter.
It is mainly there for the stats. I'm hunting up a shield to put in its place soon likely Lidless Wall.
It may not be the most flashy, but it is definitely a solid build. Also how is there not a lot visual about it, bone tornado, corpse lance, and mirane there is a ton happening visually on screen.
Hello, thanks for the vid, looks like a solid build. As I'm new to necro llike some others, could you please talk about skill rotation? I couldn't quite tell from your vid, what was first. Thanks!
Sure! Rotation is fairly simple. When first approaching enemies use bone armor and then begin attacking with grim scythe. Use bone armor when ever the CD is up to max out your stacks and deal damage. Use corpse Lance to tear higher hp enemies down quicker and as you have corpses on the ground. Use blood rush to get out of trouble or skip trash. Land of the dead is usually reserved for elites or a death prevention method if getting overrun by mobs. Frailty is a passive with the rune being used so no worries about it there.
This is a great build. I am currently using it to relatively safely run mid-60s. Had to make a couple minor swaps for hardcore, but overall same build. It has a great rotation. Good work and thanks for posting it!
Been playing this build today and having huge issues when there are no corpses around. What can i do? Scythe deals no damage so can't really just spam that. Rift guardians are near impossible because of this.
Use your land of the dead and you get free corpse lances regardless of corpses. Other then that mirane gem and bone armor casts will add to dmg output. Selecting when to use Land of dead is key. Only use if about to die on elites and bosses. So you have to keep an eye on the rift meter and consider if you can CD land of the dead prior to getting the boss.
Only problem I have with this build is that there is nothing to reduce my essence enough to get the benefit of the offhand (grim scyth deals more damage for each point of essence it restores) . Different offhand / skill suggestions?
Completely agree here. We need to use essence to make use for this offhand. Question is, what can be swapped out for an essence spender?
Primarily the off hand is there for the stats. So in truth you can replace it with what ever you see fit. At the time of creation this was the best piece I had available to me stat wise. You do not want a spend otherwise you do not benefit from having Aquila in the cube.
i've switched to Corroded in the the cube and using Shadowhook (got ancient so it was easy choice). Basically Rhykkers build. According to him it's better to use the 2H for more damage (since the offhand is worthless in this set anyway).
An update to this build will be posted on Sunday as I wrap up my refinement and test out a last couple things I wanna try with the build. The feedback given even if critical has been appreciated. Please look forward to the update.
Say Hello to the reborn Pale Rider build folks at the Frost Venom Necromancer! Please give me your thoughts and join in on the conversation during the nightly Theorycraft stream!
How is this new build performing in Greater Rifts? I'm a casual player but I'm curious.
Thanks!
