Build Guide
2.5.0 T13 Crusader Death Glare Build for Speedfarm/Bounties
Intro
A fun build incorporating insane damage and high mobility on T13, optimized for Speedfarming/Bounties.
If you like hard hitting builds then this one is definitely for you! I am seeing 200-300Billion+ crits on a regular basis from Shield Glare on my seasonal 600 paragon char with no CoE and without using any augmented items.
Note: I have tested this with BoTP, Esoteric+Witching Hour, instead of Gogok, BoTH and GoldWrap and Crits were sometimes 500Billion+, so you can use this version when your gear is more optimized.
This build relies on a bonus from using Roland's Set, Norvald's Fervor, Bastion of Will , Drakon's lesson and Flail of the Ascended.
Gameplay
Attack
The power of this build comes from the different sets synergy.
In order to maximize your damage:
- Engage elites by dismounting Steed Charge for a 5 seconds 100% damage bonus.
- Pop your Akarat's Champion
- Hit an enemy with Punish to activate Focus Buff.
- Use Provoke for increased Block Chance, increasing Shield Bash Damage.
- Start attacking with Shield Bash, try position yourself ccarefully so your Shield Glare will hit all elites.
- When your Flail of Ascedned reaches 5 stack Use Shield Glare.
If the enemy is not dead within 5 seconds make sure to mount & dismount Steed
Charge again.
Defense
Toughness for this build comes from 3 sources:
- Roland's 5 Stack
- Goldwrap+BoTH
- Akarat's Champion - Prophe
When entering a rift/bounty make sure to kill a few trash mobs to have the first 2 sources up.
Items/Skills
Shield Bash - Pound
Shield Bash Pound AoE is it's Achilles heel, however here it is actually comes into our best interest as it synergies well with Drakon's Lesson damage buff when hitting less than 3 enemies.
Shield Glare - Zealous Glare
Flail of the Ascended deals damage up to your 5 last Shield Bash casts, making for a burst AoE with high damage that will instantly delete trash mobs and could sometimes 1 shot elites.
Akarat's Champion - Prophet
When entering a rift we are rather squishy, use Akarat's Champion before engaging enemies in order to jumpstart your toughness building through Roland's 5 stack and Goldwrap+BoTH.
Punish - Fury
Used in order to activate Focus buff, will also give damage buff through increased Blocking Chance (buffing Shield Bash) and increasing ChC.
Steed Charge - Drag and Quarter
Drag and Quarter functionality:
- Allows you to keep Gogok of Swiftness stack up while moving between packs.
- Provide you with an instant source for refreshing Roland;s 5 Stack when enemies are not around.
- Provide you with instant Gold for Goldwrap thoughness boost when enemies are not around.
Provoke - Hit me
Most of Shield Bash builds use Piro Marella shield, which is mediocre.
So instead of going at the problem from this direction, using high CDR (including Gogok & Zodiac ring) will give you high up time on Shield Glare and Provoke which will both generate high amounts of Wrath.
Provoke also gives increased Blocking Chance-->More Block % Chance-->Stronger Shield Bash-->Stronger Shield Glare AoE
Passives
Required:
Heavenly Strength
Towering Shield
Recommended (Choose 3):
Finery, Hold your Ground, Indestructible, Holy Cause
Gems:
Emerald in weapon.
Diamond in helm.
Ruby in armor.
Note: As I stated in the beginning of this guide, this video was taken within some limitations.
I'm guessing you could deal a lot more damage with fully optimized augmented gear, having more paragon wont hurt as well.
I hope you will enjoy it, had a real blast with this one!
Cheers!
Hey man can you take a look at my build because imma need alot of help on mine tho I'm not sure if I'm good but I gotta move to expert at level 63 or 64 because everything's easy for me and btw I'm on hardcore so I took into account not dieing please look if you have a chance it's called crusader recruit build lol
In lieu of Norvald's favor, have you considered cubing a Final witness, using a Piro Marella and the Flail of the Ascended? One shield glare can clear the whole screen. Just wondering.
Shield Glare has a nice AoE range, if you position yourself correctly there is no need for the clear screen effect of FW.
Seems capable, only after you collect gold and get your shield stacks up to 5. Those are the 2 most critical parts of the build. I tried this a sec ago on my crusader with spare gear i've saved, most of it is pretty good, and I died... A LOT. Be prepared for a HUGE gameplay change compared to other stereotypical crusader builds.
It is a bit more glass-cannon than other sader builds, however as I stated in my guide - Prophet will give you the initial toughness boost you need in order to survive, and if you still find yourself dying, make sure to take indestructible passive for the cheat death while not in Akarat's Champion.
Please follow my instructions regarding the use of Draw and Quarter for keeping your toughness up with less crowded areas.
Also, If you find the Goldwrap+BoTH route difficult , you can go with an alternative gear variation using String of Ears+Esoteric Alteration. Make sure to get LpW on your gear in that case, gl!
Looks good - In head you can either go for SB damage or VIT, up to you.
Don't forget to get AR on boots as well.
downvoting due the gay music in the video, also at youtube
yw. I would say that on your shield you probably want CDR over +SB% or VIT.
CDR is really important in this build.
