Build Guide
I'm gonna say it right now, this is the best supWiz build out there (and does even anybody know/use it?)
It got everything the usual build got, plus the ability to stack more defense and spam teleport freely on demand, even faster due to wormhole. (gear needs to be close to perfect tho...)
Autocast Blackhole every ~2-2.5 seconds, in addition you can of course still cast it yourself if needed (very rarely the case)...alot more BHs are possible.
Autocast Energy Twisters during the internal BH cooldown (You never need to cast ETs yourself)
While stationary you cast sleetstorm to reset cooldowns and ensure 100% uptime of Cold Blooded + Iceblink
This resets the cooldowns of Slow Time which needs to be recasted sometimes and Frost Nova, which should be spammed during that time, to ensure the same effect as the usual used build with Halo.
Hergbrashs binding ensures that you never fall below 90% ressource even when adding some Black Hole casts between sleetstorm casts. It also helps starting on 100% arcane power when starting spamming teleport (never dropping aquila if geared properly)
Every kind of feedback is welcome. Tell me if I miss something compared to the build everyone uses... cus I really don't get it why everyone is casting ETs on their own. They are expensive ;P
good job on this 1. my setup is almost the same as yours .
4 the shield i use the coven's criterion , the block % goes well with the justus lantern.
and the transmog just looks kool with the primus crown.
4 the shoulders i go with the channeling shoulders and rrog and no zodiac ring .
i feel there is plenty of cdr and dont need it.
zodiac however seems mandatory. even with perfectly rolled max cdr everywhere + max gogok stacks you are still below 75% cdr. you would need more than that to keep the effect of frost nova - bone chill up. you only got little downtime on it w/o zodiac but I would prefer having it up all the time.
it's still the same.
sorry mate i dont like primus
How does this proc Conflagration? I see no fire damage...
look twice energy twister is fire. but who still plays with supp wiz? maybe its good for speeds instead of barbs? i dunno
What gems do you use for your chest and pants? Purple gems for Vitality?
The helmet is for sure diamond for CDR.
How is the survivability? Would esoteric be required over iceblink? I'm prob running GR 85-90+ if possible.
I always went for diamonds, but vitality also works just fine.
Still wondering, this build is kinda old, if you're running it with a full group you just use iceblink. the survivability is through the roof if geared properly. No need for esoteric.
I'm running usually duo or trio where I'm the only main zdps. The other 2 are pure dps, this season is DH.
Hmm not sure if I am doing something wrong, it seems very squishy even inside my slow time. The gems are not proper yet, I was just testing things around. But at T13 normal rift, I can't survive a facetank. Or that's not how it is supposed to be played?
FYI, I pretty much just slapped together the gears I have and made sure I get all CDR.

Nice dude, that's interesting what you're running.
However I understand that you are very squishy in the combo you mentioned. It was meant to be played with 4 man groups where you have perma ip+warcry (from barb) and mantra+ inner sanctuary + heal (from monk). That's alot of things to compensate for.
Also with the build you're using (checked your profile) you tried to avoid being squishy by implementing orb + explosive blast missing out of etched sigil. That for one will render your aquila curiass useless since you need to cast Energy Twisters yourself and you will not autospawn black holes anymore (which also helps surviving tremendeously - not only for you but also the whole group)
I would suggest to focus on getting some gear with cdr + ressource cost reduction and focus on the build right here keeping aquila up 100% and using ray of frost (sleet storm for that case probably for more consistent iceblink uptime) for perma casting black holes + energy twisters.
Using obsidian ring of the zodiac is not mandatory with etched sigil (there are already plenty of black holes with enough cdr) and you should have enough cdr to almost permanently keep the frost nova - bone chill buff up.
This will give you the possibility to use ring of royal grandeur which opens some more gearchoice options. First one that comes to my mind is getting another 25% damage reduction through mantle of channeling shoulders.
With your group combo you also probably not teleporting around so much - thus not dropping the aquila buff anyway there - so again with etched sigil you don't need the passive astral presence and can opt for some more defensive option (maybe unstable anomaly?)
Just some thoughts from my side. I hope I could give you some inspiration to keep your wiz alive. Good luck
Thanks for the detailed response. Yeah, I understand now this is more for 4 man and the Wiz playing as mobile support helping gather mobs, and provide offensive buffs and BH etc.
I tried this build, I find myself more squishy that's why I tried the OOID. I realized you can't really face tank and have to be quite mobile, moving in and out. Teleporting and spamming too much = no Aquila. Though I noticed that even with etched sigil, the proc for BH is quite few in between. As it is right now, not easy to survive GR 60.
I was wondering how or if there's a build that allows my Wiz as main support with 2 DH dps. I normally run Archon Wiz. DPS isn't an issue at 80 so, it would be nice to run some sort of support that can face tank a bit more at GR80+
Hm, GR60.
Even without my added suggestions to your case (which is even tankier) I can facetank t13 (which is GR60) easily with this build.
With maxed out CDR you get a free BH cast almost every 2.5 sec. Additionally you still can cast it yourself if needed.
For GR60 I wouldn't suggest safe passage on teleport and going wormhole (and only with very much RCR).
Having trouble surviving at GR60 is kinda crazy. I would imagine you have not any buffs up whatsoever.
Sure missing barb and monk is a problem like mentioned above but I thought we talking about the differences between GR85 and 105
I updated my gear a bit per your suggestions. I went into GR75. Yes it is quite tanky, but still not facetank in your mobs face and stand in all poisons, arcane, etc. Random BH can only trigger so fast. I find that I still have to move around. If I stand too long and facetank in all those affixes.
Not sure what's wrong. I have slow time on numlock. I'm always trying to channel. 98% of the time Aquila is up because my AP is always full. I have tanked using zmonk before so that's no issue there.
Thanks for your continued feedback
Sure it gets hard to survive the higher you go. But GR75 without any other support is a start. After all you're still a wizard and the only support.
Also missing the nice recovery (have life on hit on weapon?) usually the monk provides in a group.
It's no optimal setup and I imagine that it could get rough at the grift level you're mentioning. It's more about min/maxing there and I guess I would have trouble too equipping a lone zdps wizard for facetanking 80s
To ensure survivability once and for all (but sacrifising one of your important support tools) you could go halo of arlyse instead of zodiac and ancient parthan defenders instead of ranslors folly. Go ice armor / crystallize instead of energy twister.
To still proc conflagration you have to go arcane torrent / flame ward, which provides even more survivability for you. (iceblink/cold blooded is still procced due to frost nova)
You lose 15% additive dmg buff (from twisters) and the pull effect (still got some pull due to black holes though) but gain a ton of toughness.
