Bane of the trapped process itself @25 or halo procs it. I'm guessing chantodo stacks snapshot into archon. Black hole being 20 is a hell of a dmg bonus if so. Pain enhancer is throughput I'm guessing. Crappy dot is better than no dot.

You need all 3 rings though, Obsidian ring is a must for resetting cooldowns, Halo is what keeps you alive outside of Archon (in combination with the bracers) and compass rose is a massive dps/survivability bonus. All the 'survivability' parts of this spec are mostly to keep you alive between archons, and are very much needed.

As for the gems @halfdown2, thats not much of an argument. Sure some damage is better than no damage but using a different gem which gives more damage would be even better, i.e. Gogok that the firebirds variant uses which is essentially the same build, or even bane of the powerful which I have been playing around with which is basically a permanent 20% damage increase and 35% vs elites, and the damage reduction is also nice.

I'm not so sure that the black hole buff is snapshotted, but in either case even 10 seconds of 20% damage when you have overlapping stacks is a pretty big deal so thats a fair point. However my original question regarding not using the cold rune for archon still stands, you're giving up a fairly large amount of damage by not utilising the % damage on your archon abilities, especially with the black hole buff. I can only assume it is an oversight as the spec seems quite copy+pasted from firebirds, with much of the description identical.

From my understanding archon abilities take elemental damage based on your highest element%. My animations are most definitely cold with only cold% on my bracers.

I know for a fact chants will take highest element. Not 100% sure about archon. If you are running the cold rune then yes all of your attacks will be cold.

i post from a tablet and I'm lazy so didn't go into depth. Since you can snapshot pain enhancer with a potion still (to my knowledge) it may be another reason. I agree with powerful being super nice specifically for dmg reduction. My biggest problem is stray arrows grubbing me. I did change frost nova to deflection and it has cured my suckyness for now.

I can't get past GR69 getting one shot sometimes or others seem overwhelmed by the elites. Could you give some pointers on my gear other than the obvious enchant the ancients with cube, ignore the enchant on weapon I am noob and put wrong gem on it xD

I chose this build build over Firebird since i have more ancients but cant seem to survive, is my gear ok for what I am doing or should i be doing better?

The Vyr & FB Archon's are both such glass cannon builds, it almost doesn't matter how good you or your items/stats are, anything from GR60 and higher leaves you vulnerable to be 1-shotted by any enemy. There are literally GR55's you'll fail and GR85's you'll clear with 3min to spare, having the same gear.

The trick is to keep teleporting around, avoid all elemental effects, run past any group or elite that attacks from distance, and fish for a combination of killable slow zombie type white trash and a killable rift guardian who wont kite around or teleport on your head. The Wizard builds for pushing GR's solo are purely fishing builds. If you want logical higher GR pushing builds that progress based on your gear and how good you are, you'll need to pick a different character to play with.

No upgrades for Season 8 ? I am trying Bane of the Powerful just because it was my second legendary gem drop after Trapped on the first. Stricken was 3rd isn't that hilariously lucky ? Still don't have all the gear listed here but working on it slowly. Not exactly playing all day/night , just want to solo (mostly) to the stash tab.
