Ring of Royal Grandeur

The Wastes Set Dungeon is probably the most difficult Barbarian Set Dungeon to complete, due to the objective of not taking any physical damage, while trying to gather up enough mobs to cast Rend. I have optimised this build for Fury Generation and speed to avoid getting hit by using Sprint, Warcry (with Chilaniks Chain) and Battle Rage with the Ferocity (speed) rune. You also want to wear Illusory Boots so that you can walk through mobs as you won't be Whirlwinding while you do the Rend objective. You want to dismiss your follower as well to prevent them from attracting mobs away from you.
Notes:
Due to the fact that mobs spawn randomly in Set Dungeons, it can make this Set Dungeon very frustrating. My best tip for this Set Dungeon is to try and get at least 3 or 4 of your 5 Rends required within the first open area of the map, otherwise run back to the entrance to avoid having to Town Portal which can save time.
USE GROUND STOMP! A long-time viewer advised me to use Ground Stomp with the Wrenching Smash rune and it helped a great deal in bunching up the mobs for Rend.
Armaddons cannot be pulled in and have a large hitbox so you generally don't want to rend around this mobtype. Similarly, the elites cast walls which can prevent mobs from being pulled in with Ground Stomp, so I generally try to kill Armaddons and the Elites with Whirlwind.
An alternative setup would be to use Sprint with the Gangway rune and/or using the Pride of Cassius belt and using Ignore Pain - Bravado rune which also knocks enemies away. This can help you avoid taking damage from mobs, but I found it also made it harder to group mobs with Ground Stomp for the rend.

Build Guide
Welcome to my Set Dungeons Build Guides!
You can find general Set Dungeon information and Set Dungeon guides for the other classes at my Set Dungeon Thread.
This build focuses on the Wastes Set for the Barbarian.
Requirements for Mastery
- Kill all monsters.
- Rend 10 different enemies at once, 5 times.
- Do not take any physical damage for the duration of the dungeon.
Location: Act 5, Pandemonium Fortress Level 1. From the waypoint, walk backwards and up a few sets of stairs and you should reach the portal entrance.
It seems like my twitch recording of this set dungeon lost a minute or two, so I've added some failed attempts at the start of the video to show how you should be approaching this.
Feel free to comment below, you can also ask questions or catch me at: http://www.twitch.tv/CrayonsMinD
nice set up! im using this and have much more success than my prior build.
Why rorg in cube?? you have full wastes on...
I put Ring of Royal Grandeur as an option in all of my builds. I guess for the wastes set it isn't as important, but using something like Leoric's Crown or Illusory Boots is still useful. Damage isn't an issue so you can mix and match rings that you wear/in cube depending on what rings you have available.
Why not put lut soks in your cube and use the stun from triple leaps to avoid getting hit? Leap in stomp rend leap out. Would have to probably replace battle rage or sprint with leap but I could see that working.
That's probably a solid idea, I'd love to hear from someone who's attempted it this way. The only issue I can see is that you need the monsters to have spawned in such a way that there's 10 monsters in a small radius, since once they're stunned they aren't going to move any closer to you for the Ground Stomp, so the enemies need to be within the 24 yard radius already. I've seen worse random monster spawns though so I'd say it's definitely a solid alternative!
Thanks for your input! Many people have recommended the Sprint - Gangway Rune now so I've updated the skill in the build guide.
I am never running the Wastes Set Dungeon ever again unless I absolutely have to, so for anyone attempting this with the new Sprint rune, let me know how you go with it!
Actually how many attempts you failed (approx) until you did it? This one is far most fun for me
I spent about 2 hours on this Set Dungeon, so I would guess it to be around 30-40 attempts? Note my video is a clear without Sprint - Gangway rune though, so it could've very well have been easier using that particular rune. The video also cut out randomly (not sure if it was Twitch/my computer) but it hasn't happened since so I'm not sure what happened!
5x so far failed on trap... When I face armadons between swinging traps I fail. And traps animation is mess. When it goes by you need to wait almost a second before you attempt to pass or its "ghost" will ruin your run.
Yeah I think that will depend on your ping to the server (the little green/yellow/red bar to the left of your Resource globe), I noticed when I was having strange lag spikes, the delay on things like the swinging axe traps would be worse than normal. I definitely waited (and wasted) a fair amount of time waiting on those things to be safe!
Finally did it, some 5h invested... Thanks for build, its very good for this dungeon.
I would not use the Sprint with the Gangway rune cause it killed the smaller minions with 2-3 hits.
I used Kremls Belt for and the 40% Sprint rune for max. speed.
Did it on my 2nd try without Gangway, before that I had like 10 trys with gangway but couldn´t get enough mobs together.
Reducing dmg and you could get trouble with the time.
Just be patient, do the rend objective first, then ww the rest
good setup ive been messing around this dungeon for like 30 minutes now , pretty sure this build will work just need lil practice and luck of the mob spawns honestly lucks the biggest factor in most of these dungeons i think!
I was pretty tired when i did this but I got it on my second try... I found this to be insanely easy. I had to change the Gangway rune to Marathon because I would end up killing the small mobs like I did on my first try (though I failed it because i got hit by melee.) Just gotta keep moving and stun the Elites is all i've gotta say.
I also used the poison gem at rank 25 because i didnt feel like grabbing my Bane and honestly it worked out really well half the time I didnt have to go back to kill something it would die by the dot.
What about using Krelm's Buff Belt as a speed bonus? Since the dungeon requires not taking damage, the speed bonus will always be up.
It's certainly a viable alternative to use the Krelm's Buff Belt if you can't find a Chilanik's Chain, but Chilanik's should give a higher movement speed boost that should be up constantly.
idiotic dungeon
I gotta say i love this set up and am looking to gear it now. Also the commentary at the end is so real, i get those dungeons with a single mob that i have to chase down haha Nice job man i have used almost all of your guides for my dungeons!
What is the hellfire skill you are supposed to use?
Thanks
Since the rend's are the tough part, has anyone tried Lamentation to apply two rends after a ground stomp? Two rends would also make sure the mobs die without worrying about having to go back to them.Tested this, and if the mob has rend applied to it, another rend applied doesn't give you a count.
I have been struggling with the time because it takes so much time to get your rend's down. I have completed both primary objectives but am struggling with the mastery of killing all the mobs. I will edit after I have tried Lamentation.
I used
left click: Whirlwind-Volcanic Ereuption
Right click: Rend-Ravage
#1 Ground Stomp-Wrenching Smash
#2 Sprint-Marathon
#3 Wrath Of The Berserker-Insanity
#4 Furious Charge-Dreadnought
If you use sprint while using whirlwind, you move faster while whirlwind'ing. I changed to the fire rune because the mini-twisters were killing the mobs from "static electricity", if you would. I used Wrath of the Berserker for damage buff, Dreadnought rune because instead of 1 charge, you can have up to 3 and with this setup, you really didn't need the cold rune to freeze them with. Sole the setup from the following video.
