*This build is BASED on Thorns, so you want as much THORNS DAMAGE as possible!,
-
Good Information about HOW THORNS WORKS:
- Link: https://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo3Crusaders/comments/41psfg/invoker_interactions/
-
There is multiple good setups for Weapon/Shield, I'd recommend:
a) T10: DB + LW or AA
Solo Push: PS + AA
c) Grift Speeds: DB + AA
d) Grift Push: PS + VS or AA
* Having correct stats is the most important thing! So if your LW is perfectly rolled and ur AA is junk, then use ur LW.
** LW = Lidless Wall (shield) --- BTW a tip for all, if you need a better Lidless Wall, then craft it on a barbarian. Your 8 times more likely to get a Lidless Wall on a barbarian from blood shards and upgrading rares to legendaries with Death Breaths than on a crusader.
** DB = DoomBringer (weapon)
** PS = Pig Sticker (weapon)
** AA = Akarats Awakening (shield)

SKILL ROTATION: Law/Prophet > Iron Skin (Phys CoE) > Consecration > Punish
-
Great Tips / Suggestions for the build:
1. Use Iron Skin and Consecration / Bombardment when you have +200 % Physical dmg from CoE.
2. In order for Belt of Trove to use "Barrels of Spikes" rune you must have Bombardment equipped.
3. Most important part of Belt of Trove, is to keep up the 50 % DMG Reduction from (4) set bonus.
4. ... (make comment if u got suggestions)
-
Needs to be Tested (feel free to help test):
A) Sanguinary vambracers if they work with (2) piece invokers
B') Hack, if it works multipliactive with strg and how much % dmg increase it is
C) Omnislash belt, see if it makes Punish deal AOE dmg. Maybe even procs Hack.
D) Slash, use rune Zeal. Reaching 3 attack per second, might work with Hack!
E) Voy'Toyias Spiker, See if it works multipli- or additive. Works with skills or not? Better than arats awakening?
F) Iron Skin, if you use it before Consecration, does it work for 4 seconds or all 10 seconds?
G) Snapshot, is Iron Skin / Thorns dynamic or static?
H) Blood Brother vs. The Mortal Drama, which one is the best?
I) Block cap? Do we go way above block cap with Blood Brother?
H) ... (make comment if u got suggestions)

Ofc it can be, In decent Paragonlvl isnt not that much of a biggie. And usually i end up with more Gift then needed
1) I find that Steed - Spiked Barding damage is unnoticeable.
2) I'd never give up IAS on a slot you can get it from with the base build items. Stacking dem 2P seems to be the main priority.
Test Question (I)
3) When you're getting all the block chance bonuses, you're going to land at %110. And according to D3Planner (haven't checked in-game) you won't get more damage reduction after (%55) that through Justice Lantern.
I was gambling a full inventory's worth of shields at a time. Took about 15 goes until I finally got an AA. I think the RNG gods had mercy on me and it as ancient - It's a super rare shield. I went through the same thing non-season and even on the PTR. Just keep at it - eventually you'll get one!
Thanks for this build and the tips. I'm using it.. easily doing GR55 with only two ancient items. Can probably push higher with a few more gem levels
H) Blood Brother vs. The Mortal Drama, which one is the best?
Has anyone answered this yet?
Doesn't it make the most sense to cube Heart of Iron because Aquila will always give it's full bonus anyhow and you can get the most +thorns? Or is it because of secondary roll on thorns on Heart?
Hey.
Amazing guide - thank you so much for putting this up, so much detail and the posts are excellent sources of information too.
Having done enough of my own research to figure out the majority of this build there are a few key areas which i cannot understand and i think some of you will agree could be tweaked to this build:
1. If attack speed is king why not run Akarat's Champion with Hasteful Rune? (LOH better than armor with this?)
- If attack speed is king why not Fanaticism, Or is there a loop hole in here somewhere because its "increased attack speed of punish (i would think not as 6pce is similar)
- Dropping Hold your ground (as the block cap is 75% / 100% -50% dmg reduction in conjunction with JL, with punish and other items you usually exceed this)
2. Physical damage from items (COE different table) is not as effective as it appears. If this is the case would we be better re-rolling the phys dmg on neck/bracers to say LOH
3. I can see why we drop bombardment as a damage source, this theory would apply to spiked barding - why not go endurance?
4. LOH the real life saver? you are hitting that much...and riding through the white mobs to snipe elites (justifies steed/endurance again)
Just a few tweaking thoughts that i would like some clarity on.
Thanks again!!
I did some of the same reasonings.
1. Don't know about how Fanaticism and 6pc interact, but given that Fervor, Iron Maiden and Finery are a must, the left out passive would be Hold your ground. However, while block chance is capped at 75%, JL actually works up to 110% block chance - it takes nearly max rolled items, but the point is that even over 75%, block chance is a direct dmg reduction. The same works for cubed Blood Brother.
Prophet rune is used for survivability, and it's way better - a dead crusader doesn't do much damage
2. Still working on it. While not 100% effective it's still more damage; however i would go for more AS/CDR instead of LOH first.
3. Thinking the same. Even with all up i don't se a great damage increase from the horse - if the law wasn't that mandatory, i would swap horse for Bombardment and use Wings of Hope as movement tool (greatly reduced cd from AA is nice and works really well for lower levels).
4. Don't have tested it extensively, but overall looks to me a nice stat to have (again after AS and CDR).
Hey why did u change the build video?
it was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jvh0-lC7L1I (which is awesome)
now its https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP9ysvu40Ws (which is shit)
I would recommend you to get throns on your rings and amulet. Will be a small boost on your dmg.
Did anyone try this build with Laws of Valor with Answered Prayer Rune instead of Laws of Justice? Only wondering if the bonus AS from LoV would be better than AR
-
1. Definitely - I tend to agree, i did some more testing and once you hit the 60-65+ GRIFT stage you really need the increased damage reduction.
2. Same here. It is still more damage, it appears to be the damage we dont want.. to physical skills (bombardment/spiked balding etc) Depending on how your items roll it could almost be worth dropping the phys % - Would need to confirm however.
3. I think its just really dependent on how well balanced you are, you cant go swapping everything for damage as like you said before a dead crusader isn't much good to anyone.
4. Agreed. if you get a ancient pig sticker and a gift... put some 20k LOH on that bad boy! (as you said AS/CDR are priority)
So,blood brother gives me way too much block chance, could a hack in the cube instead of it and a PS / AA combo be any good for solo Grift ?
Hello everyone! Ive been following this guide since it came out on the googledocs and first of all I want to thank Drahque for this amazing content and information. Second thanks for the testers that are doing the math for us (you know who you are :3).
After hours of breaking my head against my desk and trying to figure out what items I should cube or what shield I should wear I decided to ask for help. I hardly push solo Grifts because I mostly play with my friend (Tornado-Arcane Wiz) so im mostly asking about that comp. What items should I be using or cubing for straight ST. I tend to have a barb or monk around as well so mobs are either blind or stun so they hardly proc my blocks. I´ll leave my armory with my current gear I use for pushing solo (I cube Blood Drinker but it didnt update).
Should I try Provoke - Shield for more ST burst? Cube BB for elite dmg? Halp!
My armory: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Lipio-1831/hero/71614398
PS: Apologies for the weird grammar and word choice, Peruvian player here! Also, If you can point out what Item I should replace (upgrade) ASAP would be helpful. I know my ring - neck and weap are kinda awful but idk what to focus on first!
Hello guys
I would appreciate any help or tips, cause though i managed to do last night with relative ease a 71 in 13mins, now im stuck on 72+ point.
I have tried and rerolled some stats to test numerous times but can't figure out what im missing here.I got also double and triple pieces of gear similar to mine so i can swap or reroll.
My profile is : http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Trellaras-2185/hero/71888015
Thank you in advance
P.S btw my profile is not updated,im on 610pr and just got an ancient AA without vit though but i considerated wise to roll thorns dmg
did a 71 today with this build...hoping to keep pushing higher...need to use the recipe to beef up my stats and basically get more ancient gear.
but i did the 71 with 3 min left and only died once
Well, actually i don't have much time to play and my progress is slow compared to other people, but i finally managed to get all the required items - many need definitely better rolls but at least now i can consistently farm GR55 easily (maybe up to 60) so i can get more stuff/xp/leveled gems.
Here's a link of my crus: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Coldkil-2265/hero/70944433
Hope to find the right rolls; i'm not a ladder guy, but i like the item hunt and as soon i can do GR70 i'm fine.
thank you for the tips mate
get i will get back to cdr on lantern but will like 20k loh be enough to survive after that?also ofc i cant roll this compass rose ^^ i would be ideal
i rolled it for socket, for bracers i was really wondering about that as fas as physical cause it seems quite debatable but if you are right i will certainly roll it and give a try
Btw did i do good for the ancient AA i got ?that i didnt roll vit on it and got instead 9288 thorns?
1 last thing, should i try and craft or reroll for another better compass rose?like with cdr as?
