This is a build using the LoN set. Currently (11/14) this set isn't nerfed, so its still an 800% increased damage buff per ancient piece.

The core pieces of this build are the shoulders, chest, pants, bracers and belt, and obviously the rings.

I use blind faith for the helm, but the Eye of the Storm is good.

Mara's is ideal here with dex, crit, crit and socket, or lightning damage, crit, crit, socket.

Hands you can really use whatever you have best rolled, but ideal stats on this are dex, attack speed, crit, crit.

Boots you also can use whatever you have handy, but ice climbers, illusory boots, or crudest boots would probably be ideal.

for Weapons, anything really that does lightning damage, would be good. I'm currently using a shenlong fist, and a sever since those were the best that have dropped so far. Ideal would be thunderfury, and a fulminator probably.

CUBED ITEMS:

Flying Dragon - Necessary for this build to work at optimal rate. It seems that the FD procs a lot more on PTR at the moment for some reason, but hey i'm not complaining.

St. Andrew's Gage - This Item provides a great deal of survivability to this build. so much that I've changed out some of the defensive spells for more damage.

Unity - Combined with the Chest piece, you're getting a LOT of damage redux which is crucial for surviving grifts.

Paragon Priorities

Core

Movement Speed
Primary Stat
Vitality
Maximum Resource

Offense

Attack Speed
Critical Hit Chance
Critical Hit Damage
Cooldown Reduction

Defense

Resist All
Life
Armor
Life Regeneration

Utility

Life on Hit
Area Damage
Resource Cost Reduction
Gold Find

CORE : Unlike the 2.3 Static Charge build, we don't need max resource because we're not using the full shenlong's set, so cap move speed and dump the rest into dex.

OFFENSE : Attack speed is crucial. we want to hit our 5 APS very consistently so we need all of it. then its crit and crit afterwards. CDR is actually more important in this build than the 2.3 build, since we don't have our RoTS set, our dashing strike is limited to its recharge, and epiphany is a big damage boost, but its not more important than the other 3 stats.

DEFENSE : Standard priority

UTILITY : Life on Hit and Area damage is important here.

Build Guide

This build is a take on the 2.3 Static Charge Monk that has been very popular on the live servers. In 2.4 currently, we get to utilize the Legacy of Nightmares set bonus to gain absurd damage.

NOTE: Currently At the Point of this writing, The Legacy of Nightmares set has not been nerfed (still 800%). Will test this out post nerf.

One thing about this build that you'll notice is different than the normal build is that it lacks many defensive spells that the 2.3 build uses. The reasoning for this is because we have some great new legendary powers to leverage so we can survive a lot easier. Example, The Aquila Cuirass provides us a constant 50% damage redux since we're always at max resource. Combined with that we have Unity in our cube, which provides further sustain. This may be able to be swapped for CoE for more damage, but i haven't tested this yet. And last we have St Andrew's Gage. This item gives us a decent sized shield when fighting elites, and with the LoN Damage Bonus, we actually can kill elite packs in high grifts in this meta with relative ease. These three items with the String of ears, and Spirit guards gives us a lot of survival.

SKILL CHANGES:

First thing to notice is that Mantra of Salvation is gone. Don't need the extra cool down so Mantra of Ret: Transgression comes in for more attack speed. If you're capping APS without the mantra's active, then you can switch the run to retaliation.

Next is that Ephiphany is no longer using Desert Shroud. I chose Inner Fire for more damage. The Fire balls that get shot are good for pulling more pack towards you to get a good amount of density together.

Last is the absence of Breath of Heaven. I feel the reason we were using this ability is because we needed some spirit gain from the run to keep our shenlongs buff up. Since we're not using shenlongs, i've swapped this out for Mystic Ally: Fire Ally for the damage.

So far with this build, I've cleared Grift 70 with decent time to spare. This build can go higher though. I'm missing 1 ancient piece and My weapons aren't Ideal, theyre just the best weapons i have at the moment. Also i have a str ring instead of a dex one. On top of that, My maras is well stated, but it doesn't have a socket, so i'm missing 1 legendary gem. With these optimizations made, this build can push very high. The damage is absurd as it is, and it can only get better.

As proof, I have a picture of my monk critting for 18 TRILLION damage. This happens relatively frequently, and i'm not sure what is causing it to crush that hard, but thats not even the highest crit i've seen. I've seen upwards of 50 trillion crits. i have noticed it happen more frequently on killing blows for enemies though so i'm not 100% sure.

Hopefully this build will continue to be viable when Blizz nerfs LoN, but i'll be testing and updating this tread when it happens
