Build Guide
***This build guide assumes you already have some knowledge around Static Charge Monk, and the need to proc hits for damage***
Note: This is an alternative build to those that are being created almost daily. I'm a supporter of the Proc Wizard movement. This version is my contribution to what I hope starts a new meta in Speeds and even maybe the high end GRs.
This version focuses less on AT:Static Discharge, which i found causes alot of lag in the high 70 GRs. I'm seeking an alternative skill that can provide damage as well as have a short duration so that it can be shut down to stop lag and help the group regain control of the game.
I replace the main proc method to Wave of Force: Heat Wave, which with enough APoC and Crit Chance can still be streamed at full throttle and proc your Obsidian Ring CDR reductions to the point where you can spam a continuous cycle of Frost Nova, Black Hole and Slow Time. Blizzard - Lightning Storm is only to be used sparingly to keep up the Elemental Exposure buff and should only be used when it will not cause the group to lag out.
Going with APoC / Crit Chance means you sacrifice Stormshield and have to go with an Orb offhand. Hence, I work in Force Armor, Unstable Anomally and the Firebird cheat death for maximum survivability in the higher GRs.
I ran successful tests in GR 75 earlier today and I'm excited about continuing to push this into higher GRs tonight and next week.
credits: tons of clanmates chipping in on this, but as mentioned by other Muz is awesome at theorycrafting this stuff.
OH wow damn! We gotta talk on this. What is proc on heatwave? I think that's the ultimate deciding factor to see if it' procs SC enough. I think theres A LOT of skills we can spam to get all of our cooldown reset.
it has to proc SC enough, register enough crits in density, and also not lag of course. lots to test.
Does this build have a variant that works with xp gear? there will not likely be any speed meta for a build without borns, leorics crown and a hellfire ring
That's a great point. Yes. Currently for speeds, i do the following:
For more XP:
- Swap to chest/shoulders to Borns
- Swap the Oculus ring to Hellfire
- Change Cindercoat to Leorics Crown in the cube
For more speed:
- Swap boots to Firewalkers
- Swap offhand to TalRashas Orb to pick up an extra mainstat. {FB wastes a spot on Fire%)
- Swap Maximus to AEther Walker in the cube
- Swap Energy Armor - Force Armor to Teleport-Safe Passage
That becomes my standard "XP/Speeds" setup for 70-75 runs. At 75, you start to get beatup without ForceArmor and a 2nd proc from FB.
removed
Why Pig Sticker? For the extra stats? Looks like an interesting build nonetheless!
I have ran as sc and healer with this build in group and find it nice to not have laggy ground effects. Definitely gives lots of defensive to the group when you pulling blues and yellows together.
pig sticker also has a higher AS since it's a dagger + extra stat as you mentioned, so it's prob one of the better items in the slot
I see, fair enough! Cheers for the answer
Thanks for the post of Proc Support via Heat Wave. This reminds me how back in the day "some group of people required that Heat Wave spam required "Force Move" it didn't really. It is the same as the "Stutter-Step/Staggering" by left click in the direction. However, ONLY due to prominent use of Illusionary Boots it has become more evident as to why "those people" discussed "Force Moving".
I truly love that people like you are bringing back parts or elements of the old Wizardry ways. APoC was always a big factor in generating enough. I loved it. I also think that the new belt: Shame of Delsere (if it's not changed) will enable us to play Wizard like the Crusader by using a Primary Skill, for example Spectral Blade mimicking Crusader's Slash.. or maybe something even better when the time comes.
If we change Ocules Ring to Broken Promises?
Without CC in the equipaments, it is possible to increase the CDR and/or Cost Reduction more yet.
