Update: dropping CDR for attack speed after further testing.
Item choices are fairly locked in here.
Using Goldwrap + Boom of the Hoarder gives you a ton of toughness in rifts. You could use a different belt if you aren't using Boom of the Hoarder. The Witching Hour or String of Ears would likely be the top choices depending on your needs.
Amulet is the other very wide-open slot, but do note Hellfire is best so you get any a 5th passive. Guardian's Path or any of the 4 would be good options.
You can go Sage's boots instead of gloves or helm, but do maintain the 4pc Raiment set bonus.
Basically, you lose Lightning damage in the helm slot and Unity or Convention of Elements in the ring slot to execute this build. Certainly less damage than what you would Greater Rift with, but the least sacrifice of any Death's Breath's farming build I've found across all classes thus far.
Focus on getting as much Attack Speed as you can without sacrificing too much survivability. CDR isn't absolutely essential when using Eye of Peshkov
Get Max Spirit stats on all pieces possible (Weapons in this case since we aren't using a spirit stone).

This build is optimized for 800+ paragon. If you aren't there yet, you can adjust your paragon according to your gear.
Max Spirit is very important so grab that once your move speed is capped.
Build Guide
This the Static Charge Monk Generator build I've been using to farm Death's Breaths with.
Of all the builds I've tested between Barbarian (IK and Raekor + HotA variants), Witch Doctor (Helltooth and Pet variants) and Monk, this is the most effective way to farm Death's Breath's I've found.
Especially in a T10 group or solo setting. Note that T10 is not always the most efficient way to farm Death's Breath currently, but if you have the gear
and/or the team you can get as many as 900 Death's Breaths per hour.
Basic Gameplay
- Dash to trigger Spender portion of Focus and Restraint
- Punch with Fists of Thunder to distribute Static Charges to mobs quickly and trigger generator for Focus and Restraint. Do this every 6 seconds.
- Punch with Fists of Fury for the high proc coefficient to trigger Static Charges
- Keep Breath of Heaven and Epiphany up
- Don't use Transgression (save your spirit), just enjoy the passive attack speed!
- Repeat as needed to keep Static Charge up (6 seconds) and Focus and Restraint up
For single targets, you can skip step 3 and just use First of Thunder.
For Farming Death's Breaths
- Consider dropping Spirit Guards for Nemesis Bracers
- Skip trash mobs and target elites packs for maximum DBs/hour
- In T10 group with a heal monk and 2 more DPS to maximize killing power and survivabilty while farming DBs
a few suggestions to consider, haven't tried these yet though ..but I think ingeom could take this build to another level
flying dragon to ingeom: shenlongs spirit drain can be rough for dashing in speed torments. fd uptime might be poor anyway if things die too quick
spirit guards to nemisis bracers: for dbs and ngeom uptime. gold wrap keeps you alive so spirit guards don't help
hellfire would be better than eoe since goldwrap
ingeom will make epiphany uptime better...but what is epiphany for if you have gold wrap? I'd suggest blinding flash:replenishing light and cube law of seph to instantly get to max spirit/dmg/proc shenlong when you hit a new group. can probably spam blind to help generation with loss of fd
possible that cyclone strike implosion might be needed for speed grouping, so maybe try that instead of mantra
Thanks for your feedback!
The build doesn't work very well without Flying Dragon, as it is attack speed based. It's also not really cooldown based. Uptime of defensive abilities isn't really needed as they are there for those few "oh shit" moments that take place.
I really don't think you need much Epiphany uptime or Serenity uptime even for this build to work well in T10.
I've been using Goldwrap less and less as my gear improves and T10 becomes trivial to free up a gem slot. Using with Witching Hour or String of ears depending upon solo vs group and quality of group.
I swap Nemesis bracers on for pylons. Spirit Guards are very strong for this build, but again--not absolutely necessary. Lacuni's are best in
slot for this build if you're just going after damage.
Cyclone Strike is not bad, but then you don't need 4 pc Raiment set either, so that's a completely optional path one could take.
Since I'm usually running with a support monk when I'm grouping in speed farms, I personally don't need cyclone strike. And since I'm mostly just assassinating elites when I'm playing solo and more or less ignoring trash, I don't need to group the mobs up anyone. It's all bout gettin' those DBs
