Gems
- 1-Hand Weapon (Mainhand): Gem of Ease (Monster kills grant + experience)
- Helm: Flawless Royal Ruby (Increase Bonus Experience by 41%)
- Chest Armor: 3x Flawless Royal Diamond (+78 All Resistance to all Elements)
- Pants: 2x Flawless Royal Diamond (+78 All Resistance to all Elements)
Item Variations
- Swap Leoric's Signet with Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac. Up to 30% Bonus Experience are lost then, but ORotZ helps to maintain spirit via its legendary effect (Reduce the remaining cooldown of one of your skills by 1 seconds when you hit with a resource-spending attack), which may trigger Epiphany - Insight earlier. By doing this, up to 30% Bonus Experience are lost, therefore Leoric's Signet is considered BiS for a XP healer build.
Kanai's Cube Variations
- Swap The Crudest Boots with Leoric's Crown. This variation is much harder to optimize, since the value of the legendary affix on Leoric's Crown is determined by a RNG in contrast to The Crudest Boots.
Legendary Gems
Use Gem of Efficacious Toxin instead of Esoteric Alteration to buff the damage of the group. This is not recommended with Diablo III Patch 2.3, since Area Damage (AR) may cause lags during gameplay.
Hellfire Passive
Beacon of Ytar (BoY) is the Best in Slot passive for the Hellfire Amulet of Dexterity. If you do not have a Hellfire Amulet of Dexterity with BoY, replace either the passive skill Resolve or Unity with BoY.

Build Guide
teh_hahn - Best in Slot (BiS) Experience Healer Monk
This is a Work In Progress (WIP) build, additional information may be added later. Feel free to ask about the build in comments.
Since Diablo III Patch 2.3 bonus experience is shared with all members of the group.
The main ideas of the build are:
- Make all members of the group "unkillable" by regenerating as much Life per Second as possible.
- Maximize experience (XP) by stacking as much Bonus Experience and Monster kills grant +<xp> experience as possible.
This build is an enhanced version of the DatModz - 140B+ XP/Hour Healer Monk build. It uses Leoric's Crown instead of The Crudest Boots in the Kanai's Cube. Best in Slot (BiS) items together with their stats can be displayed in full detail on d3planner.com.
With perfect items one can reach 227% Bonus Experience (XP) and 69.94% Cooldown Reduction (CDR).
Bonus Experience
- 82% from Leoric's Crown (if used in Kanai's Cube)
- 20% from Born's Command set
- 50% from Cain's Destiny set
- 45% from Hellfire Ring
- 30% from Leoric's Signet ring
Total: 227%
Secondaries
Try to get the secondary affix Monster kills grant +260 experience on every item (exception: Nemesis Bracers and Stormshield).
Spirit Regeneration
- Active: Epiphany - Insight
- Passive: Chant of Resonance
For maximum life - yes, but dexterity equals armor, and I think the amount of life is sufficient. You are completely correct regarding Life per Hit, since it isn't that useful for the build. I've updated the build to reflect your suggestion. Thank you for the comment.
EDIT 2015-10-05: Leorics' Signet always rolls with both main stat and Critical Hit Chance (CHC), therefore it is not possible to use both Cooldown Reduction (CDR) and Vitality on it.
EDIT 2015-10-10: I replaced dexterity on the helmet with 15% Life, since more life helps avoiding insta kills more than dexterity, imo.
Can you explain why Ingeom? Aren't most groups skipping elites 65+ grifts or at least not killing them consistently enough for Ingeom to kick in or be useful?
Other suggestions:
Flying Dragon: For generator healing monk's who drop epiphany for more consistent spirit regen with zero downtime (unless you have perfect CDR gear for 95% epiphany uptime).
Blood Brother/Covens Criterion: For boosting your block by 20% or reducing the damage taken by 60% depending on your rolls on shield. This is purely defensive depending certain conditions your group is clearing.
Thunderfury: High proc chance to hit 5 targets with an additional 3 seconds of 30% slow and 30% reduced attack speed. Alternative defensive solution.
Vigilance: That you already mentioned, the standard for most healing monks (but low proc rate unless surrounded by a ton of enemies). When it works, great! Otherwise a lot of monks rightfully complain about how often it never procs.
Burning Axe of Sankis: 5 seconds of 50% damage reduction with a ICD of something like 4.5 seconds, basically adding 25% more damge reduction.
Personally I much prefer replacing epiphany with a generator, and in-geom with flying dragon for experience runs. That way you never have spirit issues.
@Zei: After playing the build a bit more, I also prefer a generator. I dropped Dashing Strike and replaced it with Crippling Wave. I also replaced In-Geom with Vigilance. Now this build really supports the group fully regarding experience and damage.
@Avs0000: Yes, In-Geom is not worth it above greater rift level 60, imo. I replaced it with Vigilance in the cube. Since your other suggestions are purely defensive (except Flying Dragon), they are more appropriate for higher greater rift levels using a full support build, imo. This build is meant as a BiS build for pure experience farming. I did some GR65 an hour ago in 6-7 minutes with an average group, using exactly the build described (but my items aren't perfectly rolled of course).
