Mandatory items

Weapons: Kanai's Cube is your friend for finding weapons. Find rare (yellow) 1 hand crossbows and 2 hand bows, then upgrade them! Any Yang's Recurve should be fine as it rolls with a high resource cost reduction.

*Edit*: I was asked a question about damage, if you have the core items your damage output should be plenty. You don't need an ancient Yang's Recurve, and I had around 55-60% fire damage from Magefist/Cindercoat/Bracers, just wait for your fire rotation on the Convention of Elements ring. I only had Multishot skill damage on my Quiver too, so you should have plenty of damage to attempt this, especially on non-hardcore attempts.

As for the cube, the Calamity is optional. Other good options would be: Cluckeye (extra disable), Envious Blade (Crits work well with Ambush passive), Thunderfury (extra slows for enemies not hit by Evasive Fire + Iceblink).

Dead Man's Legacy (quiver) and Cindercoat (armour) should be easily attainable via Kadala. Generally we want the Cindercoat as a worn piece for the Fire Damage Skills damage increase, but if it rolls terribly you could use it as a cube effect which would make the Hunter's Wrath belt mandatory.

The Focus/Restraint Combo will easily have the highest damage potential (even with average rolls), but if you're unable to find them or don't want to use them, you could go with a Stone of Jordan/Convention of Elements/Unity combo (need 2 Unities at least, one for your follower and one worn/cubed).

The Hellfire Amulet is pretty easy to attain now, as for the 5th passive, the top two would be: Steady Aim or Night Stalker, with the next three decent passives being: Archery, Single Out, Leech. Otherwise any old amulet will do, try to get Fire Damage, Crit Chance, Crit Damage, but the usual Dexterity can replace Fire Damage.

Other Equipment

Most of the other equipment is optional, Pride's Fall Helm (resource cost reduction), Pauldrons of the Skeleton King (possible extra life for Hardcore), Wraps of Clarity (extra defense), Magefist (extra Fire damage), The Witching Hour (extra attack speed and crit damage).

I'll make a special note for the Legs/Pants: You can apply what is known as the 'stutterstep' mechanic on Hexing Pants of Mr. Yan. The very simple explanation is that this item has a short delay before the debuff from standing still begins, so if you move your character straight after shooting you will still get the bonus damage and resource regen. I'm not the biggest fan of stutterstepping (actually I hate it, even though I subconsciously do it on multiple builds) so I didn't use it, I used Depth Diggers but any other Legs/Pants item will do otherwise.

You could even craft the Captain Crimson's Trimming set (belt, pants, boots) for a bit of extra defensive stats and Resource Cost Reduction. Sidenote: the crafted sets are not part of the list of sets which prevent you from completing the conquest.

Bane of the Trapper and Zei's are your standard damage increase gems, I like to use Iceblink with Evasive Fire Focus Rune for the guaranteed slow to proc the Bane of the Trapped gem and the Cull the Weak passive. Other 3rd gem options would be Bane of the Powerful or Taeguk, but honestly you should have more than enough damage for the conquest. In terms of proccing the damage buffs from the gem/passive I generally find using Sentry Polar Station to be too much micromanagement (without any cooldown reduction either), and gearing up a Templar with a Thunderfury + lots of attackspeed is also a timesink that isn't really necessary.

Movement Speed

Critical Hit Damage
Critical Hit Chance
Attack Speed
Cooldown Reduction

Resist All
Life Regeneration

Resource Cost Reduction
Life on Hit
Area Damage
Gold Find

Core: Same as normal Multishot Build, Movespeed to 25%, the rest into Primary Stat. With the amount of Resource Cost Reduction from the Yang's Recurve Bow, it doesn't really make sense to you extra points into more Hatred.

Offense: You're likely to have more Critical Chance than Critical Hit Damage, so I usually max this out first.

Defense: Resist All is usually the lowest so that is maxed first.

Utility: Resource Cost Reduction is the main aim, Life on Hit is useful, I'm unsure if Area Damage is working as intended for Multishot (appears to work).

Build Guide

Just a quick rundown of the build I used in Seasonal Hardcore to get the Superhuman Conquest, which is the Seasonal Hardcore version of The Thrill Conquest (Clear Greater Rift 40 without the main class set bonuses). While I did this very comfortably in Hardcore, everything can be used in the Softcore Thrill Conquest.

As this is a Hardcore Conquest, play it safe! If you're starting off and don't have many Greater Rift Keystones, check and time your progress on Torment 7, 8 then 9 standard Nephalem Rifts to see how your clear times are and if survivability is an issue. Once you're comfortable with T9 rifts, then you should be set for the Conquest.

There are only a few "mandatory" items, which I'll go into a bit of depth in the item build.

The main playstyle is similar to the standard Multishot Build, where you dump your hatred into Multishot during the Convention of Elements Ring Fire cycle, and in between that you use Evasive Fire (with the Hunter's Wrath belt) to recover hatred and shoot the odd Multishot if you have full hatred.

As Calamities can be a bit hard to come by (especially if you're devoting resources into finding Yang's Recurve), I'd suggest swapping out the Vengeance skill for something like Marked For Death: Contagion Rune if required to regain the extra damage from the debuff on enemies.
