Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac
The items listed are for solo play build only. In a group setting you would change rings to focus and restraint instead of convention and unity. You would also change justice for iron skin to proc the focus.
You want to maxmize holy covention every time its up. I know when it coming up because its always after fire. During the times that is isn't holy you want to spend time searching for more mobs or kiting for survivablity. Keep the falling sword buff up only when you need the damage reduction or to postion yourself better. Spamming hammers is by far the best source of damage. it is not worth spamming falling sword every cooldown. You also want to stutter step constantly because of hexing. Hexing by itself is a 1 mil sheet damage for me. Iron skin, and falling sword allow for you to be constantly moving.
You want a hellfire to roll any one of those four skills or Holy cause. Holy cause is the best skill to fill in with the hellfire amulet passive.
You mainly want to aim for high attack speed and cdr to maintain full uptime of your akarat's champion and other skills. Obsidian ring will reset your akarats and other abilities more often with a one-hander and high attack speed. If you want more survivability string of ears will help with that. If you have a better skycutter than johanna's then use it because it has + holy dmg and higher weapon dmg. My build is more focused on cooldown reduction then others. The reason for cdr on most items is because as you progress later you want permanent akarat's champion, and allows for permanent law of valor and iron skin uptime.
For gems taeguk would be the only alternative to those three, but I find bane of the trapped, stricken, and goguk to be the best for performance.
Late game You want to aim for 50+% crit chance, 500+% crit damage, 40%+ attack speed and life on hit on your weapon. 45%+ cooldown reduction, 20%+ holy dmg , 50%+ area damage.

You want movespeed to always be 25% so aim for that first, then strength. I find Attack speed to be the best source for offense because when you attack faster you reset your abilities faster, then CDR. Defensive you want to max your resist all first because it will generally not be that high by itself, then armor because it scales with akarat's cooldown. Utility you should aim for area damage first since that is the biggest increase of damage in this tree, then life on hit because it scales well with your fast attacks.
Build Guide
This is the build I used to get rank 1 with multiple time in season 4 and I currently have the best time at grift 64. This is my first guide, so let me know if you have any comments or concerns. I want to bring in the light to people who do not want to play a crusader, many people think they are not that good, or in the meta. Crusader's are one of the most fun classes to play(imo). The build and guide focuses on what I use to climb the leader boards and achieve higher greater rifts.
